I presume that's how it's intended to be so it's not seen as needing to be fixed. An option to switch off spatial effects would be nice though.

Formula Renault engine is so loud it sound almost distorted while Formula C is quiet, both engines are behind you so I'm not sure if it's only spatial effect in play.

I agree, it can be all a bit odd at times.
