First off, sorry to Pag for our incident. I saw a hole at Rainey and went for it, as I was on fresh tires. I think I had my bumper up to your rear tires, but meh. Got squeezed into the inside wall and we both got damaged. Overly ambitious move on my part.

But other than that, that was incredible. Had to drive the car for the entire 2nd stint with both front wheels damaged. That took effort. Especially with steeltoesloth riding your ass trying to get by you. I don't know how I managed it.

Had to pit early as the toe being knocked out on both wheels caused the front to wear a lot. The long stint almost cost me at the end. Car was really snappy for the last 3/4 laps. And I hit red in fuel coming out of the last turn.

happy with 2nd :)

mule, i was really trying to pressure you into making a mistake, unfortunately you're just to clean of a driver, once you pit I lost you. Good race though!

GJ Steve 👍

my race:
Messy start, got banged around a bunch... lost a bunch of places... started to get settled in and then dropped a tire off the road @ rainy on lap 8.
Spin + damage... fell to last place... decided to just pit.
Drove all by myself on an 18 lap stint; I must have just been trying too hard all week because after my race-ending off I was relaxed and just cruising around trying to save tires and ended up doing 2 28.9's on full fuel.
Pace managed to bring me back up after the second stop; I went well before everyone else since I was off-schedule and ended up picking up all the way to P6. Did the last 17 lap stint all alone again with a few more 28's including a 28.5 on 1/2 tank.

*shrug* ... file it in the already overflowing folder of "broken races at Laguna Seca" ... Think i've had one "good" drive here; ever.

1st wheel race in the books. Made up 6 to 7 positions so not a bad session. Still much work to do! Good times fellas' 👍

Twisted you had it easy there , quite a big lead

It wasnt easy but everything went to plan.
I was happy to hold my position (3rd) and wait for a mistake or try the undercut at the 1st pitstop.
Mule went too deep into turn 1 on lap 4 or 5 allowing me into 2nd, so I tucked in behind Dragonwhisky waiting for the pitstops. I managed to get a better run on him out of turn 5, got the inside and took the lead at turn 6 on about lap8.

From there I pushed a little and started to pull away, pitted on time at lap 15 and again at 29. I found some real pace with a best lap of 1:28.802.

If I could of planned the race, this is how it went.
Very pleased :)

yep, broke too late in Dragon's draft two laps in a row, and the 2nd time cost me. Never saw you again.

The first time, I didn't go for the gap that you left and instead waited for you to get hold of your car, when it happened on the next lap, I nipped through.

I must add that whenever I came to lap someone, every single driver pulled of the racing line at the first opportunity, eased off and allowed me through.

Thank you 👍

Nice race guys!

Started 5th. Kept in draft of the guys in front of me. 3 guys in front went off track / got damage. Finished 2nd.

Did a 1 stopper, was pretty successful. Though it did get a bit tricky a few times, and I was running mid 1'31 s near the end of my stints.

Thought you must have been on a 1 stop when I saw how late you were coming out of the pits.
GJ, I tested it but my car was on ice skates for the last 3 of the 21. (as you saw... I was on 18 lap tires when you went around me  )
Pretty sure 2 stop was still the fastest way to go.

Same here. Had a bit of difficulty with one guy, but it was at a bad part.of the track, and he was trying to catch the guy ahead if him, so. No worries.

I dunno about a 2 stop being faster. Maybe out there in the Sagittarian Sector, otherwise known as D1, where they can run 29s with crap tires, but, I think, with deciding to fall back on my 3 stop strat, barring the time it took me to get squared away after a T6 wall shot, conveniently occurring in the lap where my 3 stop strat first pit was going to go anyway, I think I would've had a better shot at a podium with the 3 stop.

Was in third prior to scraping old paint off the wall in Rahal, I heard they planned to repaint that bit, so figured I'd help out, got back under way in 8th, switched my strat from 2 to 3 stop and hit the pit. Back out still in 8th and drove my proverbial a$$ off for the rest of the race. Pit twice more, and managed to claw my way back to 4th.

Overall it was a fun race. Random, or not, acts of gentlemanly racing everywhere on the track. Happy to have actually led a few laps at the beginning.

 to team mate and congrats to the other podium finishers.

Nice podium Mule, last time we race together plans didn't work out in your favor so I'm glad to see your real potential! 👍

Could've been lag?

Super sorry to hear that.

I took myself out underbraking into T1, then I just lost it all in Degner and got engine damage. I got the soul sucked out of me :(
So I just pulled over and parked.

Then, about 10 minutes later, I GET DC'ED!

I'm almost glad I stopped myself rather than staying out front and being dropped.
I'm much less upset now that Ive had time to calculate, and quite happy that, as of right now, for the first time in a very long time, there is nothing I "have" to do in GT5. :)

I'll be around and perhaps making an apology or two, but enjoying the hiatus way too much too quickly to mean I don't need it. 👍

As soon as it starts feeling like a job is when I take hiatus. Only the right way to go, np with that. You may come back slower though :P

I can run 28's with any car in the field.

S2K's perform all but identically as far as I have been able to tell. :)
Corkscrew is the biggest loser of time.

Mind posting the setup you used to get a 28 in the lexus?

I think we will put that down to a racing incident but i was very surprised how good the driving was i had some good battles with Sers and towards the later end of the race i did seem to spend a lot of time pulling over to let the leaders bye. But i really enjoyed the race not sure if im looking forward to Monnaco with its 26 corners and even harder to overtake but we shall see.

If/when I come back to racing GT5, I'll be shooting for the stars.

You don't pull out of Tony's draft and start driving away from him early in a race without it changing your mindset. :)
Even if it's so distracting you end up reading splits and drive into the sand.

Already posted in my garage, link in my sig. 👍

Worth noting, I haven't updated links to the OP yet, so it's on one of the last 2 pages.

The Lexus is probably the most difficult to drive though, you'll be fighting tire wear and oversteer for most of the time. Really a good car to improve one's skills with.

≡Track Notes ≡

Track boundaries for all races in GATE 2 are universally defined as follows:
The white lines along the edge of the track are considered to be the track boundaries. These lines continue onto the rumble strips at each corner. At no point should there be no more than two wheels over those lines/rumble strips. two tires must remain in contact with the track at all times. The preceding defines the "track." hard surfaces beyond white lines and curbing/rumble strips such as concrete, "greencrete", or turf and other run off is not considered to be track. White lines, curbing/rumble strips are track and even if you only have two tires on their very edges (to be reviewed and confirmed by as steward) it will be considered clean.

6jBFD7w.png

≡Track Specific ≡

Pit Entry: Only thing to keep in mind is to not enter too fast. The game will penalise you or even hold you in the pits with no release. DO NOT use any barriers or walls as guide or to gain time/speed.

Pit Exit: Make sure to respect the white pit exit lines. You can cross them, but only if you're 100% sure that the track is clear.
As always, if an incident occurs as a result from a driver crossing the line (Either the one on track, or the one exiting the pits), it is the driver that crossed the line who is at fault

≡Running Wide ≡

There's a few spots to be extra careful at.
  1. Turn 10, the Nouvelle chicane, keep 2 wheels on the rumble strips.
  2. Walls and barriers must not be used to gain time or speed.
≡Fuel ≡

The in-game fuel calculator doesn't function correctly. You must do a test run of approx half distance and calculate your own fuel usage. If you follow the guidelines set by the game, you will run out of fuel

Would like just a tiny clarification about chicane - two LEFT SIDE wheels or RIGHT SIDE wheels must remain in contact with rumble...?
