DC'd... Lap 3 I think.. Totally bummed out.

I've made every meeting this race series and that had to happen on the very last race. So freeking pi$$ed off.

I understand crashing when I'm pushing. But crashing when I'm not? It's great fun because I actually pit three times in 4 laps :D

Try 3 times in 3 laps....

Right, perfect!!

I want to be the first to congratulate everyone on this great racing season.

It's been neatly organised, everyone was clean, and the races were generally good fun. I can't wait to race again with all of you!!

On a personal note, I can't say I'm terribly disappointed by the final result, but on a race-by-race basis, the second half has been very bad. I think my problem was mostly in my head; self-pressure and all that. Still, I think I've learnt a lot, both in my driving skills and pressure management skills. After all, this is only the second racing series I finished, and the first I've ever driven with powerful cars that are RWD, so I believe I still got a lot to learn. Hopefully, by the time JGTS S2 starts, my experience will be greater and I will be able to enjoy better results and even more entertaining races!

👍

I will be the second then :D

I entered the series at mid season and the primor objective was to achieve some experience and to be clean. This was my first online championship in GT5 and I enjoyed it a lot and of course I leraned some more. I hope to race with you guys soon :dopey:

As GV had said the races were the cleanest i have done and the funniest too. I really want to be in JGTS season 2 and I wish to be faster than this fiorst season.

Se you on the track soon guys!!!:gtpflag:

Well that's that. Well done today Dennis. 👍

Well done everyone, just Pure greatness all series long.

Ok race for me, considering i had a huge crash on the beggining of the first lap. Lost about 2 minutes bringing the car to the pits.

Owens i have no idea what happened, i'm sorry mate. I was in safe distance from you and suddenly i got teleported to your back like 100mph faster then the actual speed i was. Thats why we took huge damage i think. WiiFreak was lagging a lot in my screen and i saw him crashing with us, maybe that has something to do with this incident.

Thank you all for a great series! Awesome job by Dennis and Eddie on the organization.

Any ideas when are we doing season 2?

Hope i can do better in the next one, too much rusty, inconsistency, crashing, dropped and missed races for me this season.

A great series has come to end :(

Great job throughout the season by Dennis, Eddie and Tim. A big thanks for all your hard work

A big 👍 to Tony too for a commanding victory overall and to Dennis for winning the season ending race in Japan today!

Today was a little disappointing for me, as I really should have taken the victory comfortably, however 3 mistakes put me in the heat of battle with no rubber on the final lap. Couldn't really have asked for a better finale, with 3 of the guys in the hunt for 2nd in the championship split by 0.5s starting the final lap today after 1.5hrs of racing :D. Sadly, I didn't get the result I'd hoped for, but a great race nonetheless!!

Congratulations to everyone who took part in a fantastic series and I look forward to racing with you guys in more PURE events soon!

Ok, so on to my Race report, and eventually my season report..

Hope my english is good enough for you guys to read this wall of text.. :scared:

Let's start with the race..

Quali was ok. I ran 57.3's in practice, and in my test quali just before my real atempt. So was not entirely happy with the 57.8.. But it ensured me a spot in D1 (this was before we decided to go in 1 room) at least I thought.

Strategy: My strategy was to go for a 3 stopper, even though I knew a 2 stopper is doable.. At least in a GT-R (I did a 2 stopper back in WSGTC 1, and the race was exactly the same distance as this last one).
But I also knew that I would have trouble with my tires towards the end of the stints if I had ran an optimal "11 / 22 / 33" strategy. So decided to stay out as long as possible on my 1st stint. I knew I was going to have fast drivers ahead of my, where I could use the draft to keep up, save tires and short shifting.

Formation lap and start was flawless, and I sat on Tim's rear bumper thru the first lap. I got a good run on him out of Spoon, so decided to pass him since Nige and Rees had worked up a pretty good lead at this early stage..

Rees was driving a heavy car, so I knew it would be a matter of time before I cought him due to his tire wear. I just watched the distance to Nige at this point. It grew bigger from lap to lap, but not by that much, so decided to stay with my plan. After all, I knew I was going to get those seconds back in the end of the race due to my long first stint.
I'm not sure, but I also hoped that Nige was going to think that I was on a 2 stopper, just to put a log on the fire so to speak.

So while the optimal strategy would be to race 10 / 11 / 11 / 11 laps, I did 12 / 11 / 10 / 10.
The surcuimstances I was facing could help me to stretch my first stint so that I would not need to run on worn tires in the end of the race, and thru that gain a lot of time in the later part of the race when my opponents was struggeling.

So, on to the race again.. When I got out from the pits on lap 14, I managed to just enter T1 ahead of Eddie, and that was a key factor I think. Cause he was on worn tires, and I did not want to get caought behind him for a couple of laps before my tires was warmed up properly. So instead of beeing caought behind him, I could now push from lap 1. 👍

By lap 15, I was alone, and was starting to prepare for my come back. I had lost quite some time to Nige due to my long 1st stint, and now was the time for me to start gaining time back, or at least towards the end of the 2nd stint.
I had a lot of clean air to race in at this moment, so just kept on running consistant lap times. 57-58's from lap 2-3, then high 58's from lap 4-5.. lap 6 was in the 59's.. lap 7 as well.. Then my times started to end up above the 2 min mark. But I kept it consistant as I said, and I could see indications towards the end of the 2nd stint that I was on the right track.

I had no idea about Dom's strategy. At this time, it was obvious that me, Nige and Dom was the ones who would fight for the win.. I was in 4th on lap 17, and passed Dom when I started lap 18.. Was he on a 4 stopper? I had no idea.
On lap 18 / 44, I ran in 3rd, and eventually cougt up to Jeff, who had a terrible start (He "lag-crashed" with Minion07), and lapped him out of Spoon, and I was now running in clean air, about 5 seconds behind Rees who was running in 2nd at the time. Unfortenutly, he spun out in 130R, and I was now running in 2nd, and my gap up to Nige was 16 sec.
But as I said earlier, towards the end of my 2nd stint, I was hoping to start gaining some time back, due to my strategy..
So going out on lap 19: Gap: 16 sec..
Going out on lap 20: Gap: 14 sec..
Going out on lap 21: Gap: 6!! sec.. I was like "WTF!!, he must hae had an off or something".. And I knew that this made his last stint even longer than he had planned.. So at this point, I was sertain I was going to catch him towards the end of the race..
I was now running in 1st, about 10 seconds ahead of Tim, and 18ish seconds ahead of Dom.. I was pretty sure I was clear of Tim, cause I had seen him pit at a few times, so knew he was on a similar strategy as me.. But this guy Dom.. What was he doing? I had no idea..
Since we can't see exactly how far behind us other drivers are, we have to compare visual distances from time to time, but this is really hard when a driver is far behind.. But since Suzuka is a track where you can see other cars on totally different places on the track, I knew that Dom was gaining on me at he end of my 2nd stint.. And since my 2nd stint was 11 laps, I knew he would gain a lot.. I just wanted to get out on my 3rd stint now, to race 110%, and not in need to save tires and short shift..
By the end of lap 23, the gap down to Dom was 9,5 seconds.. And he was cosing in fast..
I knew at this point that if he was close enough, he'd pit right after me and hang on in my fraft.. So at the end of lap 24, I went in to the pits for the 2nd time.. And guess what.. Dom was only 7 seconds behind me now.. He kept on racing.. While I was in the pits, obviosly, Dom passed me, and Nige as well.. So now, I was out on my 3rd stint.. This was the real deal.. It was time for me to gain some serious time.. So I was now pushing 110%.. Dom and NIge was ahead of me, but I knew I had the upper hand on Nige, and also knew Dom would be in the run fr the win as well.. So I passed Dom as I was going out on lap 27 while he was in the pits. It seemed like I gained a lot of time on him by pitting a few laps earlier.. Perhaps his strategy was a tad off in the beginning. Hence my confusion about it..

Going out on lap 28: Gap up to Nige: 17 seconds, and Dom was 13 seconds behind me..
Going out on lap 29: Gap to Nige: 15 sec, and Dom was 12 sec behind me..
Going out on lap 30: Gap to Nige: 13 sec, and Dom was 10 sec behind me.. Things are tightening up...
I knew that Nige was going to do 12 laps for his last stind.. So I knew I was going to gain a lot of time towards the last 3-4 laps of the race.. I was also a tad concerned about Dom at this point..
Going out on lap 31: Gap to Nige: 10 sec, and Dom was 8 seconds behind me..
Going out on lap 32: Gap to Nige: 7 sec, and Dom was 7 sec behind me..

So at this point, I knew Nige was on his way to pit, and the gap was 7 seconds, and even less once he reached the pits.. Around 4 seconds by the end of lap 32 when he eventually pitted..

That kind of time gain was perfect, cause I just knew at this point that I'm going to catch him.. All I needed to do now was to keep it together, and not let Dom get to close before it was time for me to pit at lap 34.. But going out on lap 33, Dom was only 6 seconds behind.. :scared:
Goin out on lap 34.. Gap to Dom was 3!! sec..

I was thinking that he will pit at the same time as me, and just stay in my draft.. Cause he must've also felt that we had the upper hand on Nige at this point..

And so he did. I managed to pull a good gap down to Dom in the beginning of the 4th and final stint, but lappig a GT-R in the twisty sector 1 made Dom catch up to me again, and from here on, I was just trying to stay consistant to keep on gaining time on Nige who obviously had passedme while me and Dom was in the pits on lap 34..

So going out on lap 35, the Gap up to Nige was 12 sec.. Which felt great.. Because I knew I was going to gain on him a lot from here on.. Dom was 1 sec behind me at this point..

Dom was just cruising behind me, cause he knew that we was going to catch Nige..
Going out on lap 38, the gap up to Nige was 11 seconds..
Going out on lap 39: Gap was down to 6 seconds.. I noticed he made a mistake, going out in the sand in Degner 1.. No damage, but he lost 4 seconds..
Going out on lap 40: Gap: 5 sec.. Dom still on my tail.. GLUED to my tail..
Going out on lap 41: Gap: 4 sec..

From now on, I knew Nige was struggeling hard, while me and Dom only stayed consistant to close the gap.. Our tires was in much better shape than Nige's..

Going out on lap 42 (3 laps left), we was in a 3 car group.. 2 sec behing Nige.. ok..
I wanted to sit back and wait for Nige's wheels to be completely worn before I made a move, but Dom wanted to attack sooner.. So he tryed to pass me going out on lap 43.. But did not get the run he wanted on me.. Thru the 1st sector, he was really up my rear, and breaked late going into the hairpin, and the pass was complete.. I was struggeling to just wait for Nige's tires to wear out totally.. But now, I had to pass Dom as well.. And we was just heading out on the last lap..

I thought that the battle between Dom and Nige was good for me, cause I could sit back and await any mistake.. And going in to Spoon on the final lap, I could see that something was going to happen.. Dom and Nige breaks very late, causing Dom to hit Nige, and both are going very wide in Spoon.. So I'm able to sneak past on the inside..
CHARGING TOWARDS THE FINISH LINE!! WOOHOOOOO!!!

I have to say, one of my best races ever was complete.. The strategy, the consistancy, the clean and really good driving.. I'm super happy. I could not have asked for a better end of the season!! The battle between me, Dom and Nige was on from lap 1.. In some parts of the race from a distance.. But the nerve was always present.. Just awesome!!

All in all, my objective was to finish behind the aliens.. Since tony was the only one who stayed the entire championship, 2nd was my goal.. And I did it.. Super happy with that!! 👍 👍

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

And on to the season as a whole:
The majority of you guys have lived up to the expectations! Our goal with this championship was to gather a group of drivers that we knew we could trust to stay the entire championship.. The season started out awesome at Suzuka in late November. Great race, and the 3 aliens snatched the top 3 spots ofc..

We then raced at Spa, and we had some connection issues.. Dom had to drop the race.. El Aliens got DC'd.. MULE had major troubles as well.. I think Rees also had a bad race here.. Then on to Nur GP/F where me and Aderrrm got DC'd.. So the connection issues kept on giving us hard times..
We then reched round 4, the last round before christmas and new years.. It went fine as far as I remember.. It was also a race to be dominted by the YELLOWHAT SUPRAS and NSX's.. Big round of applaudes to Paginas for a superb race in his GT-R here! This is really one of his best tracks, no doubt.. He's like a robot here..

After new years, we have a lot of drop outs (Disapointing ones imo), so we tweaked the tables, and made some structural changes.. 12 car grids etc.. This was pretty lucky actually, cause exactly at this time was when the "BUG" was noticed.. Ok, it was noticed before, but the big troubles had not been seen up until now..

So Monaco, Monza, Spa, Nurburgring, Indianapolis and Suzuka all went pretty good connection-wise.. And the last race, we tryed 16 cars, and it went really well!!

Me and Eddie want to thank all of you who raced here thruout the entire championship. Aweosme racing, awesome experiance! 👍

Next season will start in the end of March as it looks.. Or perhaps in the middle of April.
Cars will not be SGT's for season 2.. Let's just say that the cars will be heavier, have more power, and less DF.. In other words, the skill it requires to drive the cars will increase.. But with this season in mind, I have no doubt that we'll have an awesome season 2.
We'll also start up a series with LMP's.. It might sound crazy for now, but me and Eddie are 110% sure it will be awesome.. 👍

Stay tuned!!

Cheers

oh!! i see, i could be interesting to drive another cars but I have to say that I luv Super GT's so I prefer personally Super GT :dopey:

Minion I have to chuckle about that wreck.

Yesterday was my birthday and I kept it hush. Why? Knowing the top guys. I so could see each one bumping my rear as birthday spanking as they passed me. So to avoid any extra attention or silly stuff. I kept hushed. Well I truly would of rather they bumped my rear 37 times vs the one big one I got from you. LOL

I thought it was a funny irony. Great season. Looking forward to what's in store for us.

Like many Super GT's are my favorite cars on here for racing. However you mentioned the other group that makes me stand up, LMPs!!!!

I'm not sure about those heavier, more powerful cars (now I'm saying this, but I'll probably end up joining? Heh), but I'm all up for LMPs!!

To give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about..

Ford GT40 Test Car Spec I
Ford GT40 Test Car Spec II
Corvette Z06 RM
Corvette ZR1 RM
Corvette C5R
Viper Team Oreca
Pagani Zonda R
Audi A4 DTM Touring Car
Audi R8 LMS
Honda RAYBRIG NSX
Nissan GT-R R32 TC
Nissan GT-R R35 TC
Lamborghini Diablo GT-1
BMW McLaren Race Car.

Around 600 bhp.. DF around 30/55... Weight around 1250 kg.. These cars are beasts!!

I'm actually more interested in the LMP's.
Of course both look awesome. Fairly soon I'll make a mini-finale report.

I'm a DS3 driver, you know guys... And we are limited :( . More power = very bad tyrewear.

So, I vote for the "FIA GT's" ;)

@Dennis

Congrats teammate on your win.. and congrats on 2nd place for the season. Oh, and congrats on the team championship!!:)

Really a great writeup Dennis. I really enjoyed reading it. Your english is very, very good.👍

Congrats to Tony for his overall victory. I am very glad he stayed even though his competition (Adam and Brock) left early in the season. Really impressive stuff driving with all that extra ballast.

I should have asked him for some ballast tips going into that final race:idea: Putting all that ballast in the rear made the car quite "exciting" as the fuel load diminished.

Sounds like the race was pretty epic for all the guys in the front battling for second place in the championship. I wish I could have been a part of it, I just had far too many mistakes. I was able to sneak some points for fastest lap though:sly: I damaged my car with 3 laps remaining, so it gave me a chance to grab some fresh rubber and try to set a fast time.

A really fun season thanks to all the drivers here. I had so many fun battles this year with Nige, Dom, Tim, Dennis, and even a few with ballasted Tony. Even if there weren't as many battles with many of the others, I really enjoyed sharing the course with you guys. Every time I got near a fellow racer, they were always competitive while still remaining completely fair.

It was too bad that Eddie and Jamen couldn't have made all the races, because I would have really enjoyed battling some with those two. We just didn't seem to match up much this season during the races. Either you guys were too fast for me, to consistent for me, or it was a track that had the NSX advantage. I look forward to some more battles in the future.

It was fun to get to drive with some fresh faces too. GV27 had a great start to the season. Had some rough patches.. but it was great to see the commitment in joining all the races. I also commend the commitment of Litchi, Muzz, and Ansem. Out of the three of them, only one race was missed.👍

Speaking of commitment... Big ups to you Jeff. You made every race, with a not so easy to handle car. To me, you seemed to gain a lot of speed throughout the season. I think after a season in the NSX you will notice big improvements when driving other cars. Fun racing with you!

Of course.. there were so many others I didn't write about. Even over a full season, I didn't get to compete with a lot of you.. Just certain tracks suited eachother differently and we didn't race together much. Wii and Pag come to mind.

And of course.. Thank you to Eddie, Dennis, Dom, and Tim. Eddie and Dennis for putting together such a well managed, fun, competitive series!!👍 Thanks to Dom for a lot of the testing for these cars(for here and WSGTC)👍 And, of course, big thanks to Tim for the great website and stat compilations.👍 A lot of work from all of you.. that is very much appreciated

- - - - - -

As for the next series.. I am looking forward to it. I am very fond of the the idea of running faster cars with less grip.👍 That is my favorite type of driving. I also can't wait to get into some LMP racing!!

Yeah, Litchi and every one.

The two series are going to be run at the same time.

Expect individual interest threads to be put up soon.

Great write ups every one, I'll throw in my two cents later on.

Also, expect a PM from Alex (GV27) and I soon asking about specifics in your experience with JGTS so far.

And to be clear, there won't be a new season of JGTS till probably late summer. Hopefully by then some updates will allow us to expand the series formula.

Thanks Rees!!! We won the team championship!! WOOHOOO!!!

I totally agree with your post.. A lot of awesome efforts thruout the season.. Ansem and Litchi was 2 awesome french racers to get to know.. Muzz from down under as well!! 👍 Really sad Muzz and Ansem got DC'd in the last race.. Really feel for you guys.

It's kind of funny, but I, same as you Rees, felt that I did not race close to all drivers that much.. Especially not against the guys in other car types.. Pag and Wii def comes in to mind for me as well.. Eddie as well.. GT-R drivers... but it was not always the difference between the cars.. In many occasions it had to do with poor racecraft from my side.. And ofc unlucky surcuimstances.. cause I had a few battles with Dom..

Amd gratz to your amazing lap!!

@ Eddie:
I think we can start planning the next SGT season now. Let's say it will start in the beginning of August or similar.. Cause what we are going to do now, will probably take April, May and June.. Then, as last year, we'll not host any championships in July, cause people are on holidays and trips.. Participation will be low.. So I def want to schedule the next SGT season to beginning of August.
And as Eddie said, maybee something pops up thru DLC or patches that will make things a lot better.. Let's hope so! 👍

I would suggest we start our next series (LMPs and those heavier GTs) after WSGTC is over, if possible. That would be mid-april. Of course, planning and pre-season races can and should happen before that... anyway, just my feelings!

I'm certainly hoping for a SuperGT DLC pack at some point between now and next august. This could mean the arrival of the HSV, for instance. We'll have to wait and see.

By the way, since write ups are in order, I guess I'll just go for it as well.

I will take the chronological order, to make sure I explain things as they came to me.

Obviously everything started with Suzuka. A tough pre-season for me, but the car I received was very promising. Maybe less twitchy than some others, and with time, I even raced with 60 rear aero, or even 55, once! It all came down to helping the car rotation. Of course, this doesn't mean I became a great driver, but even I can see the way I evolved here.

So going back to Suzuka; new championship, new car, new rivals to race with. And, of course, my first race that wasn't an Integra, or a single model race, for that matter. I quickly learnt that certain cars would behave better at certain tracks, which was something very important throughout the season. While the first feature race was complicated, it taught me how to drive close to all the other drivers, and to deal with worn tyres with such beasts. The first sprint race gave me a nice satisfaction, too.

Lesson 1; Learning the basics of a GT500 car.

Next was Spa, and I was absolutely thrilled. Every time I've been to Spa so far, something good happened; so I could say it's my best track. Qualifying was decent, and the race was one of the best feature races of the season for me, with just one particular mistake that I remember. However, by that point I was on my own and it didn't change my result. The sprint race gave me the first podium of the season, which in the end became a victory. I have to say that, to this day, and regardless of the results, I do not consider I've won a race. Of course I'm happy about those points and statistics, but I still have to experience that feeling of crossing the finish line while on the first place, and I won't consider I've won a race until I do so.

Lesson 2; If your pace is good, it doesn't matter so much that the car doesn't suit the track.

Even with what I learnt at Spa, the problem I had at Nürburgring GP/F was the opposite. The car should work nicely, but I was rubbish. It was not so much of a mistake nightmare but more of a pace thing.

Lesson 3; Everyone has tracks they're not so fast at, you just have to be patient and do the best you can.

I arrived to Le Mans with a firm conviction that I was on for a great race. My car was not the best car here, but even if the NSX and YMS Supra were faster, I was very confident on my speed. My qualifying was rather good, in my eyes, and I could have gotten a podium if it wasn't for two unfortunate crashes. While I know those weren't my fault (as opposed to many mistakes I made later on during the season), those were just racing incidents.

Lesson 4; In racing, crashes can happen. It's all about standing back up and keep going.

I cringed at the thought of Monaco. I feared the track like nothing before. It was like combining my skills of the Nürburgring GP/F and the risk of racing between the walls. Yet surprisingly, Monaco became my second best race of the season, with a very good seventh place and a pace that kept improving (The fastest lap during the feature race was done with a damaged front suspension!). During the second race, I was aiming for a victory, at one specific point, but Dom's pace was very fast, and after I made a mistake, he took advantage of it, and obviously stormed away. In the end, a magnificent third place which meant a great end to the first half of the series.

Lesson 5; Psychology is important, if you believe you can have a good race, there's a good chance of you having it. Similarly, if you think you can't do it, there's a good chance you won't, as I learnt later on in the season.

Monza is clearly a turning point of my season. I was facing the toughest track for my car, and after a long week of training, I was able to clock some times that would have gotten me into D1. However, it was not to be; and after two mistakes on the two qualifying laps, I ended up on D2 for the first and single time this season, by less than one tenth. The race was a nightmare. Being disappointed about being in D2, and convinced that the race would be one of my dropped rounds only made it worse, and I kept making one mistake after another. The new twitchy camera did not help, and it only made things a tiny bit harder than they already were.

Lesson 6; A point is a point; even if you can only get to a certain position, put your heart into it.

Spa, as I've always said, has a kind of magic to me. And it didn't disappoint... during the qualifying. A third place here was definitely one of the highlights of the season, being just less than 4 tenths off the pole time. The race was another story. Spa was the track where I used 55 rear aero... which was my doom. We were unsure about which time would be raced. And I should have changed the setup of my car for the sake of safety. If I had ran 60 or even 65, I would have lost, at worst, two tenths per lap. While it didn't make sense for me to do it in a dry race, I should have known better and I should have put 65, just in case it was to rain. And boy, did it rain! Actually, when I see the first 7/8 laps of my race, those are absolutely stunning, if I do say so. With intermediate tyres and wet track I was keeping up with the leaders, with an absolutely awful aero. Of course, once the water became too much, this was impossible to do. As a testament to what could have been, my best lap with 100% water was nearly 10 seconds slower than my best lap with 100% water during the practices I did... with a rear aero value of 65. What could have been... But it wasn't. I crashed a thousand times in what I rate to be the worst race I've ever run. In the end, it was all a matter of pride. I didn't allow myself to give up, even if there were so many moments where I wanted to do it. Particularly, being far away from everyone and seeing the race was still a good 50 or 55 minutes away from finishing.

Lesson 7; Water's dangerous. Do not fear it, but respect it. Always bear in mind to set up the car accordingly.

After two horrible weeks, Nürburgring Nordschleife was fated to be the one race that would change everything... but it just wasn't! I convinced myself that I should just race without mistakes, and since the Nordschleife is so hard, a decent result would just happen, naturally. But on the second corner of the race itself, a big crash happened in front of me, I got scared, and lost the car. The result was a badly damaged car that I had to drive for several minutes to the pitlane, destroying any chance of a good race. To top it, on the very next lap another crash happened, since I was distraught because of the first crash, and the race almost literally ended for me, there. It was just a matter of finishing, from then on.

Lesson 8; They don't call it "Green Hell" just because. When you crash, you should not cry over spilled milk. Pick yourself back up and keep racing, since anything can still happen.

Indianapolis wasn't looking too good, but I trained just as hard as always, and prepared myself mentally for it. I did some sort of self-psychological course. It did work, and while my qualifying was not good, as I made a mistake, the race was decent. I did not avoid troubles fully, and I stupidly hit the tyres on the first corner after pitting, and had to drive a full stint with a lightly damaged car, in order to avoid an extra pit stop. Later on, while fighting with WiiFreak, I got a little hot and damaged my car against his own, although it did not change his or my race. Being my car damaged again, I started to fall behind and we maintained our positions. I feel I could have been 5th, was it not for my mistake against the tyres, but 6th position here was a very encouraging result after the worst month of my short racing career. The sprint race, however, had a nasty surprise for me. I was in the front, with a good strategy that, as Eddie and Ansem proved, was a winning strategy. Unfortunately, the fight around the lead got too hot and I got taken out of the track, which effectively ruined what would have been my best race since the first time we raced at Spa. Again, I found myself with bittersweet feelings. The weekend had not been bad but I knew it could have been better.

Lesson 9; Expect the unexpected. Good results bring more good results (I had a great race two days before on WSGTC, which helped mentally).

Last race of the season, back to where all began. I had high hopes on this race, and I was right to have them. My fastest laps may not have been so fast, but I was able to see my pace was good in general. Unfortunately, I was victim to some bizarre stuff. I went into the pits after Dom, wanting to mimick his pit stop strategy, but I lost the car while trying to catch up to him on the following lap with still cold tyres (not that cold, but hey). In the end, his strategy was quite good, and I may have been able to get a good result. But I had to pit a couple of extra times due to the same mistake of always. I had also lost a quite probable victory two days before on WSGTC, and this may have influenced me a bit. Still, a very important point was to "man up" and make no more mistakes after lap 10. This way, I was able to keep 9th place. I could have gotten extremely annoyed at my mistakes, just as it had happened earlier in the season, but I decided to improve that particular aspect of my driving. And I'm happy to say it worked, kind of.

Lesson 10; Every lap is good experience and something to learn from; even if your race is doomed, keep racing the fastest and safest possible way, there's still plenty to learn like that.

As you see, I kind of took a lesson from every race. There's other general things that I learnt in general, and I consider this season helped me mature as a driver, so much. If you had told me, 5 months ago, that I would score two podiums on WSGTC, I would have called you crazy. Yet I believe those races show just how much PURE JGTS has taught me. And because of that, it's a championship I'll remember fondly. It shaped me as a driver, and taught me countless things. Now I just have to learn how to apply them, and continue getting faster, hopefully.

Now, I would like to thank everyone here. You've been great racing partners and rivals, and it would not have been the same without you all. However, I would like to thank some people in particular, for specific reasons. First of all, Ansem, who has been a wonderful team mate. He was faster than me many times and ignited in me the motivation to keep pushing harder. Also, he helped me with some tunes during the first race at Suzuka. Also, thanks to SG15 for joining us. It was one of my ambitions to have a friend who I know personally to race with me in GT5. Although we've only raced together on two tracks, it's always great to know he's there as well. Thank you to Eddie, Will and Dom, who gave me some great tips and good advice on how to improve. I'm trying to learn from that, and I believe some results are showing already. And, finally, thanks in general to those that "notice" me around here. I tend not to think too highly of myself, so it's always good when somebody tells you that you're doing something right. It helps to keep on the flame of motivation alive, even if racing's my passion, so even when the results are hellish, I can't imagine stopping for real. I would miss it too much.

I think that's basically it. Sorry for the nice brick of text!

TL;DR: I learnt a lot even when the results were not nice. When I look back, this series was really fun.

Awesome read Alex! 👍

I completely agree that you can learn a lot by just keep on racing... No matter what hepens, just keep on going. It will defenetly gain you a good amunt of points in the end. And on top of the points, experiance as well..

It seems to me that all of us have improved our driving skills.. I can only look at my self, and when I compare something like driving behind someone in Sector 1 at Suzuka, in dirty air.. Race 1 and ace 10 are miles apart when it comes to confidence.. I had a lot of laps in dirty air this last race, and I felt really confident all the time. Awesome stuff!!

I'm super happy you decided to join PURE JGTS, an you are a true ambassador of fair driving and sportmanship!! 👍

Awesome race series guys!!!

At the start I was very nervous and I think it showed with some 1st lap mistakes during the pre-season. I think my biggest fear was ruining someone elses race rather than my own. This series was the first time I'd seriously raced on hard tyres so it was a steep learning curve for me. As things went on I gained in confidence and found myself running entire races damage free. That was my goal. Not to be the fastest because that would be impossible but to be consistant, keep it on the track and pick off anyone I could. I've improved a lot and I think now am running maybe 1 - 2 seconds a lap faster, depending on the track. I was so disapointed to DC in the final race but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Anyway thanks to everyone for clean and respectful driving, not much more any of us can ask for over and above that. Thanks to William for putting my name forward and big thanks to those who did any organising, big or small. Also thanks to William and Dom for helping me setup my car. This is great sportsmanship and I really appreciate that quality.

I'm looking forward to the next Pure Series. LMP and GT1 sounds like fun. I kinda like driving the Diablo having raced it in a GT1 series on my home forum. Very hard car to drive but not impossible. I do have major concerns for those using the DS3 though. This will be very very tough for them. I'll be racing LMS and GT1 on my home forum over the next few months as we have a series starting soon. I'll also be doing GTfusion for the first time. (See you there GTPlay). It will all be good practice for the next Pure event.

Muzz

Thanks Dennis. It's been really great meeting and racing with all you guys. There's some great drivers here and I don't just mean speed wise. Also some very doged and determined drivers who stick with it even though things have been going bad for them. I respect this attitude and hope to see all for the next event.

Whoa guys!!!

I'm goig to cry! How emotive feelings to from everyone ("gallina de piel" right GV?) you guys are simply awesome.

First of all I want to say my greetings to Dom and Will for helped with my setups, Alex also helped my so thak you mate 👍

I enter this series at mid season in Monaco fighting for a car with Adventurus, without no setup I was certainly very nervous and finally the orgaisation alowed me to drive the XANAVI Nismo GT-R so thank you again.

Being an oficial driver of the JGTS iI had t adapt me to this GT500 beasts ad I have to say that i didn't achieve it. my best race was at Monza beatig Warde ad GV27 on the feature race here i wasn't on the pace but i did only one mistake. On the rest of races I got damage and mistakes so the first lesson that I have to remember is that if you are not on the pace don't push harder than you can control.

I learned a lot of you guys and as GV27 said I am very glad to race in a championship with a friend, thanks to Den for giving my this chance!! Finally what to say abaout my team mate, he is awesome he is fast and a great person, thanks Dre to be my partner in this adventure.

The second leason I learned is that I have to improve my setups I have to listen better my car and then I can be able to do better setups.

About the hipotetic DLC's it would be awesome that we could have a new circuit, which is the "circuit de catalunya" the F1 spanish GP you know :sly:and of course new GT500 cars who are the Honda HSV-010 and the Lexus LFA

Thanks for all guys! long life to PURE races :D

Thanks for the kind words, Den 👍 . I'm really glad I was offered to come here in the first place. I wonder what you guys saw in me :dopey:

Indeed! Racing at my home track would be something special. I don't think it will happen any time soon, but... With PD, you never know.

No more race / season reports?

Guess it's time to close this one down then.. I'll wait another 24 hours before I do..
It's emotional!! :(
