Off topic: I sent a PM to Wardez asking for some help on my PC lagging on my GTR Evo on my TV. Just found out it is too weak to handle it. When I increased the resolution on the monitor framerate went bad. Really bad. Stupid laptop, wanted to start PC sim racing and now I need to buy another one. :( F:censored:

Ofc YOU (Pole sitter) like it..
We both know that won't stay pole...
But of course, I'm pleased with my time, from running 58.2's on my first attempts.:)
Agree. Nice work sir.
Nice Viper sir.

Why do you think I don't have any of them?
Wardez has me  interested in them, but I'll have to wait until I can buy a whole new PC to start those types.:(

It was bought just for the everyday use, not really expensive. I believe around $400, but thought it maybe would run GTR Evo. I was wrong. Better start saving up some money, and buy something decent if I want to actually play something.

GTR Evolution is my Nordschleife simulator. đź‘Ť
Although my desktop spreads it across 3 monitors :P

I cant play it with my G25 on my 32" TV because of my stupid, slow laptop :(. That game just sounds so gorgeous, that Aston Martin DB9 is just magical!

Gonna be on late night tonight CSL? Don't feel obligated or anything, just wondering. I really to nail out some problem corners.

Depends how late, I can stay up till around 6-7am, or I think 3-4am there.

Incoming đź‘Ť

Wardez checking in for qualifying, I'll be available for the next two hours in CSL's room.

After all my testing, I've only achieved a 1:58.4, and it's looking extremely hard to replicate it. This is going to be one long season...

Don't be bummed... I drove the castrol in two practice races. It's the best car in the field on tire wear. I was able to do 20 laps at Laguna Seca without dropping more than 1s off-pace. You're going to be able to 1-stop every race... which is quite a nice thing to have in your pocket. Also what it lacks in pure speed it makes up for in consistency.

I can give you my setup, IIRC I made some changes from the 'recommended' that helped out.

I think I'm too hard on the front tyres, so I may not be able to 1-stop every race. At least, I'm not sure about it... I know it's the best car on tyre wear, which I think will help me precisely because I may be too hard on the tyres...

I would love to try your setup, if you're willing to share it with me. Much appreciated. I've been trying a few things, but it won't hurt to try something else. It may suit my driving style more, or who knows.

And to be honest, I still have to try a long run and see how consistent I am and how many laps my tyres last. So maybe I'll have a nice surprise!

GV: I think that if you're wearing out the fronts that hard in the CASTROL you might want to tweak your driving style to a more flowing-style one.

I've noticed that by turning in early, and kind of flow thru the corner do wonders for your tire wear, and it will also gain you time.

Don't put too much pressure on the car.. let it floooooww..
If that makes any sence.. :scared:

"Be like water my friend"

Also lower the rear of that supra so it will rotate....lower decell on LSD and .00 rear toe. :)

Neat car, the turbo spool makes me happy.

Well I'm not sure if I'm wearing them out THAT hard, but at least I can say I kill the front tyres more than I do the rear tyres, and as far as my experience tells me, that shouldn't happen with a rear wheel drive car.

I will try to turn in early, and see what happens. To be honest sometimes I feel I'm overdriving the car, so I think I can try putting less pressure on it, and let it flow as you say! :P I just hope I won't be slower then, haha. (Don't worry, it does make sense to me đź‘Ť )

I'll also try Watson's setup, if he does send it to me. Different setups mean different information.

Right now, off to try lowering the rear of the Supra and will try the "early turn in+flowing driving" style, and see where that leads me.

Thanks guys, I know I'm being a pain in the butt, but you can't begin to imagine just how much I want to improve.

LSD: 8 / 45 / 8
CAM: 2.0 / 1.5
TOE: 0.00 / -0.10
RH: +10 / +5
SR: 17,8 / 14.8
EXT: 7 / 7
COM: 7 / 7
ARB: 5 / 5
BB: 3 / 4

That's where I would start with the Castrol Supra.
You can really set the springs to your liking on stiffness, just keep the front about that proportion stiffer then the rear to start.
I can't confirm any difference in lap times so far at Suzuka from stiff or soft suspension, or low or high ride height.
High ride height is easier to control, so I'm running high. "shrug"

also good to note that you can run higher and softer if you have the chassis reinforcement installed.

Just wondering, does anyone know if installing Chassis Rigity has a negative effect on the GT-R? It seems like I'm flying at times yet I'm still in the 58's

I never buy chassis reinforcement. :yuck:

I have tried low/soft low/hard high/soft high/hard and medium/medium and there's no solid differences in lap times. Not sure there's even a difference in tire wear, but you need to drive each setup differently to maximize it's potential.

I prefer stiff setups myself, but in any case, the higher ride height is easier to manage and is turning just as good of laps as low ride height.

I've left biffy in charge of room, I'm really not feeling for gt5 at the moment, I'll see how I feel tomorrow as I have an lmp race which is far less serious than this haha.

plus I'm not really sure about the race time anymore seems a bit early for a Sunday as I normally eat around then but I know there are some big series that run on Sunday evening...

anyway I'll keep you posted

also when's cut off point for quail?

Saturday Midnight Pacific Standard time. Or 9 hours before connect time.

Turn-in feels a lot more responsive if the front is low and tight. I like my cars 'pointy' so anything that takes away corner entry understeer is where I go first. Chassis reinforcement is one of those things that I think every race car should really just come with... but it seems with it you can run softer springs before the initial turn-in starts to get muddy.
