From a terrible start the D1 raced played out decently imo.

As for what happened, it appeared (I haven't watched the replay) Tony just braked a few feet too late, I tried to stay outside and we bumped and both wound up in huge slides. I didn't receive damage from Tony, but once my car blundered straight back on track in front of traffic I got hit from the rear pretty hard and had some right rear damage.

Congrats Skeng on pulling off the 1-stopper, and Anthony for a solid 2nd. 👍
If it helps, I get frame-rate issues you mentioned every time I race a full grid. :/ I Think my lap times showed it today.

What an exciting race. Took a little to finally get it started. Led out till stopped. Opted to try the one stop asy tires were wearing nicely. Played out decent but Johan's speed prevailed and I got past in last few laps. Was able to hold of Mich for a second place finish. Awesome incident free race. Thank you all!

It sucks that i had to win under the circumstances but ill take it .

Great race for me , followed anthony til about lap 13 then i got past him . Decided to do a 1 stop and it worked , started losing time in the last laps but i knew i could make it .

See you all at Suzuka .

Good points for us !!!

Qualyfing is my issue , im more for the race pace than the hot lap .

All you need to do is turn a single race pace lap out of 2. You did it 42 times in a row today. :sly:

Well, that stunk.

Start was okay, with something apparently happening between Tim and Jason at T1. The former fell back, allowing me to follow Jason into T3. Then, something in front happened, kicking up tons of dust, and also having cars spilled all over the track. I backed off the gas, which gave me some breathing room, to make some evasive maneuvers. Unfortunately, Jason suddenly slowed a bunch, and had no time to react. Got damage on one of the front wheels, although it didn't really affect me other than my wheel occasionally shaking. I got around him a few laps later, and I quickly pulled away. Eventually, I saw Dom eating dirt at T3-4, giving me a free spot. Only then I noticed that Tony was at the rear. In all the chaos, I didn't realize he got the worst of whatever happened. Also, I noticed Tim in my rearview, who was keeping pace with me. Finally, I saw the split times with the leader actually getting smaller. At that point, I thought a win was actually possible.

Then I caught up to cicua. My lap times tanked the moment I had to deal with dirty air, so I hit pit road at around Lap 14. Big surprise came up, as the game told me I only needed 22 gallons. That's not right, I thought. My calculations told me I needed 35-40, so like the dummy I was, I added all of it in. Huge mistake. Not only did Tim pass me on pit road, so did Dom. Back in dirty air, I was struggling to find consistency, as I could never get a good enough run to make a pass attempt.

On Lap 25, I decided I needed to hit pit road in the next two laps, and hope I can pass him with a really good outlap. That's when the racing gods decided to spite me, and everyone eventually disappeared from my screen.

I kept going anyways, hitting pit road the lap after, and my brain fart was on full display. 0 liters of fuel needed.

Car was awesome after that, as I hit multiple low 48s with ease. Got to Lap 40 before I decided to call it, and came back to watch the finish.

With some better luck, I should've finished at least 4th. Then again, luck is something I'm not having with this series. :irked:

20 points from 2nd to 9th!
I'll be damned if Suzuka isn't the greatest race to date.

Weider OTOTO shaking up the team standings a bit too. :mischievous:

A win is a win and there are no easy or free ones in this field. Awesome Skeng !!!!!

(Hope its a good sign for us also doing some D2 racing)

I had some great close racing in D2, first a bit with Pag before he got the GTR break pedal problem (its a known issue with the GTRs as I had one too at Nurnburg) then a lot more with Michmich at some part going side-by-side for several corners. Those moments are great.

Didn't have a clue about pit strategy. With Jeff up up front by 3-4 sec on the first stint and I was not able get any closer I decided just to gamble on a 2-stopper which I think turned out to be a good one. Lucky not to get stuck in any traffic on fresh tires and I managed to catch Jeff in the end thanks to better tires.

Had fun.
Connection was bad, I saw myself as first place all the time so i didnt now on which place I was actually. My lap times was horrible(around 1.50) but mannage to keep a pace with few little mistakes.First stint I was all alone, and just trying to save my tires. After pitstop cars was all around me.Also was worried about fuel, took few liter less and try to save some of it in draft. In last few laps maxking and cicua was behind me, but when they started to changing positions I was little bit relaxed.Mannage to keep them behind and finshed fifth(I think).Didnt overtake not a single car except those who crashed or let me in front:indiff:
All in all happy to get some points for my team

After reading in here it seems that it was more than 3 people that had damage. It got a bit messy there with dom and tony so i guess we could have restarted in d1.

Edit: my phone is now charged :) and i will be doing some laps at suzuka. Feel free to join in.

Was happy to get a 48 in q so I was in the big show as I've never had a bad race at Motegi I had some high hopes; even with Dom running ridiculously fast pace in practice I hoped to get near the podium over the long haul. Motegi is all about mistake management. Any bobble costs buckets of time.

No josh so I got a free upgrade from 9 to 8 right behind Jason for the 5/7th time. Was worried we were down a man but max came in right as I was checking the HSVs so we got checks over with and green flag only 5m past the hour.

Bit of an odd up and down pace on the roll-out, so it made for an odd start when we got to the line but I took off right after Jason and we were off cleanly. I'd done quite a few practice races so I was comfortable with the T1 approach even though we were in such a pack I couldn't see any sort of corner markers. Jason went easy into t1 and I was going to take the low double-apex through T1-2 next to him but we had a bit of a miss-communication and he shut the door too late for me to do anything but brake and eat the collision. Just a racing incident... 50/50. I was afraid he was going to go off and I was already slowing up to evade the collision so I stayed off it to let the Z back through. That however allowed outlaw and max to be opportunists and drop me 2 spots...

So I settled in behind max, rich, RT going down toward t2-3 while getting used to my light LF damage when there was a dust up in front. Got through the chaos and ended up behind Rich and Jason where I stayed for several laps just soaking up the draft. Rich eventually got by Jason, I followed a lap later and we started to pull out trying to close in on Simon.

Unfortunately for the damage the first stint was pretty off-pace. I never saw a 48 for the whole run but using Rich's draft was good enough to minimize the damage. Toward the end of the run everyone had peeled off into the pits early behind me and Rich was starting to walk away as the car got pretty bad with the wonky front and worn rears so I decided to dive in a lap early (I'd planned 15/29) and followed rich in on 14.

The pit crew said I needed 22 so I took the free 12 and came out in front of Dom. He had already warmed up his tires and was faster than me anyway so letting him get around and following him seemed the best option. But the first time back around to t3-4 I made a mistake and lost the draft. Game-over, he walked away and I had Rich up my bum.

We clicked off a good pace as I tried like hell to catch the HSV. That didn't work too well and I came in on the scheduled 29 after a longer 2nd stint. The crew recommended 10, so I took the free 12 again to be safe and was on my way for the light-fuel blast to the checker.

I came back out in p7 with max behind me and RT in front. I pushed like hell and was in the 48's on the first out-lap trying to get the draft on the z before max could get mine. That worked like a champ and I hit some nice low 48's as I caught the wind a few laps into the stint. Got around him and started chasing down another z.

Caught him and was in p5 with Dom on the horizon fighting a petronas. I found out it was Simon as I went by in T3-4 due to a big cloud of tire smoke from a drifty miss-step. After that I was clear and on my own in 4th where I kept pushing hard but made too many mistakes to join the podium fight even though the gap kept shrinking as the leader was being a 1-stop hero.

Good race guys, nice to see the finale next week will really mean something with the tight points races. 👍

Im glad we didnt restart :)

I can understand that ;) great race!

I didnt say anything because everyone kept on going like nothing happened i thought i was the only one. Even if it would not have matter anyway for me.

I had a good time all things considering.
The start was odd. After that I should have tired a my plan B 1 stop but decided to 2 stop at the last minute.
Then I forgot I was on the 2 stop run and pit at halfway... Dooming myself.
Good win SkengD 👍

I got out of second pit stop and almost collided with my teammate but let him go, he had pitted one lap before and my tyres were ice cold. Instead I got Dom on my bumper for a battle for 4th, fought hard to keep him behind but cold tyres and that evil looking HSV in the mirror got me nervous, and eventually I made that one mistake. The leaders had only been a couple seconds away, but this dropped me instantly to 8th. And this was around lap 32, says something about how close this race was.

I spent the rest of the race hunting down Maxking and Petros, got past Maxking after a good battle and ended right on Petros' bumper, but ran out of laps to make the pass.

Second stint was pretty, in most of the 20's laps Team Petronas was leading the field 1-2, me gaining ever so slowly on Anthony. Of course some 1-stoppers were bound to overtake on our second stop, but hey, you can dream. :)

It was an exciting pit exit and exciting race, 3 more laps and would be a war between Skeng - CSL and me. Bad tire wear, this conditioned my race and my pace. Anyway, good race!!

That's nothing. Yellowhat scored nothing at all this weekend. :banghead:

yeah... that's brutal. 2nd time even; your ps3 hates you and it seems Wardez and Twist make every race but the ones the other can't. :(

Just disappointed; even a mid-d2 finish on top of mine would have put us in a position to fight for 3rd next week. :indiff:
Eh well... I'm still going to give it all I've got. Though me and Suzuka aren't really super best friends.

btw, tony only needs P7 to repeat as JGTS Champion... hopefully the internets lets the race play out.

Dr_Watson
my team mate didn't make the grid. :(

His interwebs wouldn't let him; saw him resetting, found out for sure later.

Speaking of which, those intertubes didn't do Itoko's points many favours, either :grumpy: ( but that's nothing compared to being on the receiving end, which has only once hit me on a race day (and not in a series). Rich, I don't even... )

I'll have to double my espresso count before Suzuka, and warmup better. Not that I could have expected a much better result, but first stint was rubbish, and I capped it by taking ~16 litres of fuel I didn't need - good use of 8-9 seconds, there :dunce:. Still, had fun in the last stint!

Edit: 6'1, alright for a point guard, but street ball didn't work after son arrived.

Just an FYI, even though I've DNF'ed in every race except for one, I'm going to give Suzuka a try. It's a favorite track of mine, even though my pace around it is painfully slow. How I'm going to actually finish this time, I have no clue.

Oh, and T1...

...not quite looking forward to it. :nervous:
