That's a very good point.
If you know the room is heavily bugged, there's no sense even worrying about who hit who.

I don't know who hit who, so maybe there is an issue there, but when you know the room is effed to hell, you can't even tell what really happened on anyone's screen but your own.

Congrats RT on the win...

I think I'll have to quit the series as I can see this being too much trouble to enter and complete races. Honestly I wouldn't have signed up if I knew this beforehand but it looks to be too tight. I can't dedecate fridays, saturdays, early sundays, late sundays so what's left?:yuck:

Turning some laps on Fuji now, hitting 1:31.542 on RM's.

I fully expect that to be shattered by someone other than me.
Won't be me. I threw so many setups at my car and I had a 1:32.6 as a PB and I'm still killing the tires. Seems like changing my driving style is the only option.

That or change the view of the car. I haven't tested that theory yet.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Don't worry bout practice times. Concentrate on a clean race and tire conservation and you'll be in contention for a win. I took 1 too many stops and lost out today. I may not have been blazingly quick, but I had too much camber, tire wear cost me lots of time. I set the car up for Nurb, not GV. Oh well, onto Fuji.

Yeah, I looked at the replay some more, and I can't find any evidence for any intentional hits, so Don't worry about it.

As for divisions, I want to wait and see how many people qualify by the deadline before I make that call. Apparently 11/12 seems to be the maximum for a stable room, but if only 14/15/16 people show up, we may be forced to go with everyone in 1 room.

I am afraid it Just Wont Work (tm). Seems nobody is able to run a room larger than 12 these times. Personally I would rather race properly in a small grid than have this nightmare bug again. Racing is just not fun with it.

Too bad the timing is way off. Running 2-3 rooms with 10 people would be OK if you could combine the rooms based on total time.

Then instead of fighting I could let someone by just to catch his draft and get a better total time, and if positions do not matter, then why not?

I would prefer divisions.

Ideally, we'll get about 20-24 people, and split them up into 2 divisions based on quali times. I'll send some PM's out and make a roll call post to see where we stand.

This new patch we're supposed to be getting later this month better fix this.

I do agree with cicua, much better a clean room of 10 even, then worrying about who might get bugged and who won't.
I'll take 2 rooms of 10 in the current scenario over a room of 16 100 times out of 100.

Who says positions wouldn't matter? All positions matter.

If everything worked the way it was supposed to, that method could work.

I've always wanted to try that method, I see no real reason for it to fail, as long as it's grid start.(and the fields aren't so big we get the "bug")
Doesn't work for rolling starts though.

Yeah, but the problem is that even with minimal lag, the timing ends up way off. So, unfortunately it won't work.

I've heard that it could, but unless the bug is present, I'm not sure how it would.
Has it ever been tested? To my knowledge, the timing is fine in rooms without the bug, the timing is actually one of the first indicators I saw that the bug truly exists.

I tried it a couple times with the Season 2 Miatas, and the times were about ~20 seconds apart.

When we had 3 divisions of FMSC cars weren't the total times pretty similar between races? I think there were some weeks where the division winners were around 1s of each other.

Yeah when Aderrrm Spun or slowed down :P. (Like Nurb when he "posed" coming out of pitlane as said by Wardez lol). If we got 20 id be more than happy to do two rooms of 10 even if I was 11th :sly:.

I went through all my old stuff and couldn't find much. May have deleted it all, or put it on my external hard drive which is packed away after my move. I don't recall them being that close.

It might be possible with shorter races, but for races 45+ minutes, it tends to spread out.

Yeah when Aderrrm Spun or slowed down :P.

He wasn't racing with us then.

Hmm, so how did Sunday's race @ GVS go with tire strategy? Did every one start on hards? I was planning on starting with hards, running two laps, then doing a couple stints on mediums till the end.

don't we only have 1 set of mediums?

Rules say you have to use both compounds at least once.

I went 8 laps on Mediums, 10 laps on hards, then the last 7 laps on Mediums.

Intrepreting the rules... Can we mix them? Say one stint at RH/RM and another at RM/RH? (and perhaps plain RM/RM for the rest)

That was pretty much my strategy too. Need to start on mediums to avoid getting lost behind from the start.

That's a question for MULE. I personally couldn't stand driving a car with that setup.

Watching the replay, it doesn't matter what the tire strategy is. Turbo is going to wipe the floor with this tire model. It's just not fair!

I think a med-hard-med is the way to go here only because the tire wear's better with less fuel so it's better to save the good stuff for last.
