It's not so much the mods I suppose, but the fact that this was done to a brand new 2020 Lexus RCF by a dealership is what makes this questionable. From the dealership I used to work at, they would do a customization contest between all the dealers and the Lexus one decided to choose their one and only RCF on the lot. I don't see this selling anytime soon.... They even had a kid who used to work at Best Buy install the underglow... And the wheels were painted black.

A dealership? Why the hell would a dealership do this? It's an aftermarket mod...

For this one, look closely at the tires.

It's hard to see on mobile. Clicking to enlarge (as is what usually happens when clicking an image on these pages on a mobile device) means being redirected instead of enlarging. I don't want to be redirected. Examining the hyperlinked image shows that it redirects to Reddit. I really don't want to be redirected to Reddit. Please stop hyperlinking images. If you really want to provide a source for an image, and I can appreciate that, really, you can provide it just above or just below. If the URL is longer than you'd like, you can hyperlink text ("source", for example) just above or just below. Don't bother responding to this; your action or inaction will be response enough.

Possibly to draw attention (and maybe even customers) to said dealership.

I fell for the same hyperlink.

It says, ‘SEND NUDES’ on the tyres.

I can zoom in on the device easily enough, but my first instinct isn't to do so as it's so often simply a matter of clicking to enlarge. And frankly I'm still not used to that actually being Turbo, with whose hyperlinked images I was familiar enough to reflexively not click.

It's the same reason Ford, Chevy and Dodge dealers take in EXTRA BRO lifted trucks (or Mustang/Camaro/Challengers with pitch black windows and wheels wide enough that the car would be undriveable) and then park them by the road with a price that isn't listed unless you actually speak to someone. It gets you in the dealer and gets you out of your car.

Then after 9 months or whatever they change it back (or at least tone it down) and actually try to sell it; or just dump it on auction.

The franchise has a competition amongst themselves with customizing a car in their inventory to sell. The Toyota dealer would lift a 4Runner, Honda dealer would wrap a Civic, etc. Somehow the Lexus dealer thought it'd be a good idea to enter a RCF into the competition....

the body shop I work at does a lot of "dealer custom" jobs for our local Audi/Rover/Jag/Porsche dealership.... MOST of the time we just do things like black out trim and wheels, but occaisionally we'll do something we veiw as "Stupid" often because a salesman is dealing with some rich kid who agrees to buy the car IF said stupidity is taken care of....
biggest eye sore of this nature we've done was a brand new rover, Forrest green (or something close to it) now has a full set of matte Lime Green plastic claddings... and banana yellow brake calipers...

(Sorry no pics this post was made to answer the WHY a dealer would do stupid things... I got sidetracked)

Oh how I’d love to see the look on the Owner’s face when they used that ‘tow hook’ & all it did was remove the grille

Tears of laughter would be rolling down my cheeks.
Looks like it'll be removing the radiator, not the grill  Although, it's probably not fastened enough to even do that.
