Indeed - since iPlayer isn't a broadcast.
A property requires a licence if you have a TV hooked up to an aerial or cable/satellite feed, or a PC used for watching live TV. It doesn't if you have a TV for a VCR/DVD/BD/HDDVD player or games console, or a PC used for watching after-the-fact programming like iPlayer and 4OD.

Apart from the advert free TV channels if it wasn't for the TV licence fee we wouldn't have BBC news, Cbeebies (I have a 2 year old son, you'll understand if you've had to watch other childrens TV channels), BBC.co.uk, BBC Nature (Planet Earth, Life etc), BBC World Service, BBC Radio (but not Radio 1 because I'm old now
