When you get your username changed, can someone then change their username to what you previously had, or is it locked off in case you want to switch it back the next year?

Once you change your name, there is no restriction on anyone (new or old member) taking your old one.

I live on GTP during work, does that count?
Still waiting for you to tell me you get paid for that....

*By GTP. Unless GTP pays for your salary at the school so you are slacking at the other thing.

Do mods have set times that they need to be moderating? Like a roster? Or does everyone just get on whenever they feel like it?
If so, are there ever times when no mods are present?

I can't answer you question but I know if there was a lack of staff available to keep the forums in check there are certainly plenty of dedicated members who would do as much as they can to keep disputes to a minimum and regulate any issues as best they can within their means.

*Puts "I've seen these questions before" hat on*
Apart from Jordan is there anyone that work on GTPlanet for living?
No.

No, but I beleive the geographical distribution of mods is one of the factors Jordan uses when handing out fresh capes.
Im sure there are times of day where there are occasionally no mods active, but the alert system would change that if poop hit the fan.

When you guys see an argument about to erupt, do you spring into action and try to stop it, or do you wait for someone to dig a big hole they can't get out of?

Example: A person comes into a drag racing team thread (heh) and says that they have screenshots of a team member harassing them, will you wait for them to post swear-y screenshots or stop them before they can?

Depends. How much do we hate the person and how much do we want to see them go? :D

Seriously, though, if we see it early enough, we'll stop it up front. But we can't be everywhere at once.

Do all moderators have the ability to write news articles?

Just the ones that write news articles.

I always took a wait-and-see approach. Sometimes tensions would build up and spill over into a free-for-all, but other times it would all come to nought. I learned pretty quickly as to what to look for, so even if an argument did break out, it could be fairly minor.

Ugh. I always hated going into those threads.

Has Jordan ever had a different profile picture?

All the staff are specifically trained to be able to moderate in our sleep.

See above, so never (except when we are eating doughnuts).
Distracting you with doughnuts can be both hazardous to your health and the site then.
