I'm going to go out in my driveway and give my new setup a try. But I win't have a lot of tweek time cause I only have one battery and it only lasts 5 minutes

I want to get into the race scene but I need a better car first. My car will only go about 15-17 miles per hour. I need a faster car and a bigger engine.

I have a pretty decent engine. HPI .15 SS. My car, before I broke the axel, ran at about 35 MPH or something like that. Maybe even faster. Accually I think was faster than that.

Oh wait, you have a electric engine?

Yes there is. I work in a model shop than runs racing for electrics in a fairly small town and we get around 50-60 people turn up for a race meeting. Nitro is fun, I have played with a mate's Kyosho Inferno MP7.5 before that can do a genuine 90mph but the cleaning always puts me off. Plus electrics are quicker round a track :D

No, it's .21cu (3.5 cc I think) but is 2 stroke and race tuned. 7.5 is just the model number. A new truck from Thunder Tiger has just come out with a .70cu lump with a .90cu upgrade avaliable. That, like the Inferno is 8th scale.

Well I read a magazine review of the car with the .70 in and the said that it would pull wheelies accelerating at any speed execpt flat out. It's a bit silly and costs £475 for chassis and engine only (about £600 with everything) but massive fun according to those who've bought one!

Well I just tried my car out. WOW talk about a difference camber makes. Talk about grip. I took a turn at full throttle and it didn't spin. I squeled the tires but they stayed down. I can really get out there and go now. I cleaned out the engine as well and it started running better. I really like the car now its really running fine. Thanks for all the help on the set up.

Now I got some money and I need some batteries. What kind would be the best. I hate my battery! Its a 1700 and only last like 5 minutes.

streetracer780, you should get one of those quick chargers. I have one, and it could charge a battery in like 20 minutes. The good thing is, you can use it in the car and in a regular electrical outlet.

What charger do you have Streetracer? Is it peak detect? Is it Nickel Metal Hydride compatable? Depending on the answers to these, I would get either a 2400mah NiCd or 3000mah NiMh. The 2400 will give more voltage so more power (punch), but the 3000 will run for longer. Some chargers are only good for NiCd while if you don't have a peak detect charger, you are not getting a full charge anyway. As for run time, 5 minutes with a 14 on 1700 is pretty good.

I have so charger I got at Radio Shack for 50 bucks. I will support NiMH cause I have one for my other car. I just really need more run time. I'm going to the hobby shop tommarrow.

For $50 I would expect it to be peak detect. Spent some of the day playing with my 22nd car, a TC3 Rally. It currently has in it a motor made from bits and pieces I had kicking about in my room. It was running really slow, but I pulled it out of the car and played with it on the motor tester at work. It goes like stink now! Unfortunatly the ESC I am using I bought second hand for only £15 because it had no brakes. The TC3 is so efficient, that the car keeps rolling quite a way when you come off the power, makes running quickly in small spaces quite a challenge!

No, it's perfectly safe! Was running it in a local car park about 10 minutes ago and it was fine. As a rough guess, I'd say it was doing about 30mph on a 17 turn with a 26 pinion. Stopping was challenging although thanks to the car being very oversteery, you could simply swing the car round and slide to a stop, usually:D

What sort of car parks do you run your cars in? I mean, are they NCPs? Or supermarkets? And do you get permission before you do it? How about local interest? How do you deal with onlookers?

Sorry for all the questions, it's just that I'm thinking about venturing out of my estate and into the local Safeway car park, and was wondering what to expect.

I usually use a big car park popular with gary boys fairly late, none of them mind a 1/10th scale missle flying about and many of them are pretty interested. Nitro could be more of a problem because of noise but I'm sure an out of town supermarket carpark could be used when the shop is closed. I race about twice a week anyway, I just like making my cars go stupidly fast occasionally (too fast for racing) so I go to a car park.

I ran my Nitro around lunch time last week in front of my house and this old lady came out and started yelling at me. I guess she was sleeping.

Lol, well, in one of the clubs which I race with, we've had complaints about the noise of the electric cars! What nitro have you got piglet?
