R390, 787B, or GT-ONE in F1 Championship

(Killer disadvantaged race, but fun :) )

To the people who've won this:

1) Which car did you use?
2) Did you use any turbo upgrade? Without it, there's no turbo lag to slow the car down in the 0-100 mph range. But with it, you get a lot of power after 100 mph.
3) What pitting strategy did you use? Super slicks ? Medium? Soft :odd: (you never know...)

Thanks!

Sorry, my subject may have been unclear, but I was asking the people who've won the F1 championship with the R390 LM, GT-ONE, or 787B...

well i find it hard to believe that they would have won this series with these cars if they raced the whole series as 1) the 787B is the fastest accelerating out of those 3 and would lose immediately to the F1 cars, and 2) they all are no where near as good at turning as the F1 cars and to keep up during corners you would need to have slicks and would be sliding to get more speed therefore ruining your tires very quickly and not helping at all.

Basically, i dont think that this is all that possible and i wont believe someone who says they have... unless its mr p or max e.

Nah, not possible.

Even if you were max e or mr.p its not possible.

If max e or p was to post here and say they did it... I would require a replay.

Only then would I accept the statment... otherwise, it is a sure fire way to ruin your rep as a person who races and post honest times.

Sorry, but do some enduros if you dont have an f1, there is no way to beat them without an f1.

Good luck.

I haven't been too successful, but I have won the Seattle and Midfield races. (Midfield is actually pretty easy to win due to its long straightaway) Seattle was a blast - I lost the first time I attempted it, but after going back, I won by <10 seconds. The test course is obvious. No championship yet. That was in a R390 LM with stage 4 turbo and super slick tires a long time ago.

It's not impossible. It just requires very very good runs. Although I think there's no way to win at Cote... Seriously, try it. You don't need to be 1st in all the races to win the championship. I'm not your greatest GT3 racer and I'm sure others can definitely win at places like Apricot Hill. I haven't got the time to try again, but I will as soon as I can. I'll probably try tuning the car in my next attempt because I left the same settings on it throughout last time.

I beg to differ. I sure haven't done it, but the Formula GT series can be beaten with a 787B at the least, if not the other two "fab slabs". sn00pie has done it in the 787B, among others.

Thanks neon. I forgot to mention I lost Grand Valley by 3 seconds... It's not as impossible as it seems and if you haven't tried it, you should.

Yeah,.. I'm more than confident it can happen,.... been wanting to try myself,.... only tracks I've heared there are issues with is LSR and Seattle,... but I'm sure it's easily(for some) doable, with those three and you can toss ZZ2 into the mix also, though it wouldnt have a prayer at LSR and Seattle.

Definately possible. I brought this up over at Gamefaqs awhile back and a few of us tried a couple of the races. My great TSO20 times are like average F1 times, so you'd just have to make sure to consistently run great laps! I can usually take 2nd or 3rd, maybe a 1st, but I've only tried this a couple of times. Remember, you don't have to win every race with 1st place to win the series, just place like 2nd or 3rd all the time, then it depends on the competition- if the points are spread out among all the other cars or just mostly on one car. In FGT, I think the 94/s runs the fastest of all the F1's so it might put the sqeeze on you for points.

I'm certain that you can win the championship, but sweeping the series would be a bit tough for most people.

I'm not a fantastic driver (been shown that on many occasions), but I've managed a win in the R390 on Midfield. Noting RER's thoughts on Seattle, and it being my least favored (read: Hated) track, I'd have to run a strategy to take advantage of the R390's power elsewhere.

The Strategy I developed was the one I used on my first running of the F1 championship (using an F094/s).

Race Seattle, Laguna Seca, and Cote before starting the series. Win Midfield, Qualify on the Pole at Seattle, Win GV, Super Speedway, Rome, Test Curse, Apricot Hill, and R246. This lands you all golds across the Board.

Not impossible, and certainly do-able. In fact, it's been on my "to do" list for a while.

I read a writeup a few months ago,

Someone went very in depth about pit strategy, and paying attention to who was getting where in qualifying. He managed to find some weird pattern, and ended up winning it with the maxed out c12S

bobkart won the race at Midfield II with a Denso Sard Supra.

It ISN'T impossible - simple as that. You just have to be good enough (and smart enough).

It was this exact thread that led me to run the F1 series in the Nissan R390 LM back in July... too many people saying "impossible" and "can't be done". Sounded like a good challenge.

It IS possible. Not a walk in the park, but I did win every race.

The only race I did with out the F1's was the Test Course. I did that with the Escudo (suprise suprise) Mainly since I had a garunteed win and I didn't want to listen to the F1's at full revs for such a long time.

Maybe it's not impossible then.
