Hopefully I'll enjoy it !

Yes, once you get past the AI it's quite an enjoyable drive.

I usually pass one car at the first bend then set-up wide for the first hairpin. After the AI plow into there I pass a couple more there and before/into the first tunnel leaving just one car that I pass between tunnel 2 and 3.

Hope that helps. 👍

THANX BigJamesGTI!!!

Good Advice from tuff240!!! 👍 Will have to try your approach. I found an "AI" Combo w/slightly less "Un-Natural" tendencies & ran a 8'37 w/2 Laps in the 1'40s. (2 small "Kisses" from the "AI"! :grumpy: ) Just can't seem to get a good first lap lookin' in the mirror the whole way around!!! ...UB57 :D

Thanks Tuff - Hopefully it will.

I ran GV for a few weeks in the 001 but dont suppose that'll help me as we are off backwards !!

I quite like GV backwards

I just ran the Arcade car, to see what it was like, and ran a 1'44.1 quickest lap in an 8'54 race. The Arcade car on 588hp, running T5s... :D

I'm really surprised someone hasn't posted a faster time yet.
I don't know GV/GV 2 very well and I'm usually not very good at multiple lap events.

I'm guessing a sub 8'30 should be fairly easy for the better drivers.

I'm not a "better driver", but I've got one.

Have to work on finding a kindly AI field next. I just had the 787B, TS020 AND R390 LM. A field with just the R390 is easiest, as you can take him braking into the 90-degree right just after T2. It's getting there that's the problem.

Best out-lap: 1'47.9
Best race lap: 1'40.2
Best hot lap: 1'39.7

Don't recall. It wasn't clean - 3 AI touches, two offs and a wall-tap - so I skipped it... High 8'29 I think.

I'll go back for some more later. I've got some Old Guys to race :D

Just to let you guys know where I stand...

Best in race times:
1'46.0 first lap
1'39.2 best lap

No word on free run times, but we're in multi lap racing so there's no need to worry about it really. ;)

Catch you guys after I get a good race down. 👍

Later.

FWIW, my strategy for getting past the bricks is to take the inside on the first turn (left sweeper) with the left two wheels in the dirt. Then stay very tight to the inside into the first part of the hairpin. The AI slam into the wall, and if you get it right, You can get past all of the cars before the first tunnel. Most of the time, I get past one car in the first turn, two more in the chicane, and out-brake the last two into the second tunnel. The field I'm running against is led by a TSO20.

Ok had a quick hour then and my 1st clean race is saved! The AI are quite a handful aint they!

anyway ... seen 1.46.2 as best lap 1 and 1.39.0 as best fast lap

My only clean save so far has ..

1.47.5xx
1.39.7xx
1.39.7xx
1.40.1xx
1.40.2xx
8.27.3xx

I will get some proper race time in at the weekend :)

I expect someone to have knocked 7 - 10 secs off my time by then 👍 ;)

Laters and Good Luck

$hit! ... nothing worse than deciding to go to bed just as the birds are waking up 👎 noisy little $hits! ... where's my air rifle? :sly:

You know Ron, this would have been a better test with the car at Max hp. It seems that all the Board Challenge races have rediculous amounts of hp and no driver aids allowed. Just a thought.

In some cases, true. 👍

In others, false. ;)
My race last year was race #9, the Z concept @ SSR5 reverse with exactly 350hp. 5 laps, super soft tires, absolutely perfectly 100% clean.

For me it was a great learning experience, although right now I am still a bit short of board comp experience.
Hopefully I will be able to run again this year and if that is the case, I hope to put up a much better run.

Actually, I am almost sure that I ran against slowpoke last year. :dopey:
He came in 3rd I think, and I came in 7th.

I would hope to do better this time around. :mischievous:
(looks around for slowpoke :nervous: :scared: )

Well...
I haven't been able to run this any more, been at school in slidell and new orleans all day. The frustrations it caused were also the reason I went running when I got home. :deadtired:

So no time yet, but with my body's condition at the moment, I can't say for sure if a race will be in my schedule tonight. :grumpy:

I will still be around though, so talk to you all later. :D
Until next time,

I know where he was this past week end. In my house I-linking with eggmann and GB24hours.:P He is still as fast as ever though I did manage 9 wins to slowpoke's 13

So should I assume that you, eggmann and poke would all be running for your original board; which was it? GT by numbers?

Sorry, you told me before when we were discussing something else, but I have a bad memory. :dunce:

Well if you all do run together, good luck and all that jazz. ;)
I'm sure you will are put in great runs. 👍

Now, regarding the gtp and this qualifier race.

I hope to get in laps tonight.
Before I was doubtful of my ability to run, but the exhaustion (sp?) has left my body and there might be a chance for me yet. :D

Back next time I get some laps in,
Till then,

wtf????? I have it on good advice from Arwin that this comp is happening :ill:

Obviously Bob hasn't been informed! :indiff:

If I have been led on a bum steer I apologise to all the guys who have run this and I will slip away into oblivion :guilty: Sorry! :ouch:

Sorry guys I'm half cooked tonight :dopey: get back to you when i'm sober 👍

No apologie necessary for me, I'm enjoying running it. 👍

I ran this morning and didnt manage to get a complete time !

Lets take an example

You head the field after the first lap. You go through the first couple of sweepers beautifully, then you approach the left right hairpin and the Toyo slams into the back of you, you manage to control it - not bash the wall and not go into the grass.

Is your run allowed, if yes then fair enough as there is absolutely nothing you can do about the AI running into the back of you.

If no then its daft and there are far more dedicated racers out there than me.

By the end of the 1st lap you should be far enough out in front for it to not be a problem. Practise in free run until you can do AT LEAST a 1'42 flat. Then you should have no problems pulling away from the AI.

I'll have another bash at it when I can get on the TV and the PS2.

So ther answer to my question would more than likely be a yes, if they hit me in the rear end then its a void time, and the reason ? Im just not quick enough yet !!!

LOL. Well sort of. I think if the organizer of a race new the entire race would be run dicing with the AI, they would generally give you a one touch rule or something. But in this race, I can easily keep in front of the AI and I'm no where near as fast as some of the guys that race here.

In short, yes, you are screwed until you get faster. :P

Pink_the_Floyd
:odd: :odd: :odd: :odd: :odd: :odd: :odd: Is this a new WRS Comp or what is the meaning of this :odd: :odd:

This is a pre-qualifying race for the GTPlanet team for the theoretically-upcoming 9 Boards Challenge 4.

I doubt it.

Actually, unless the next board to host the challenge changes the rules, in any race 5 laps or less there would be absolutely no tolerance: 100% clean, no exceptions.

In the case of 10 laps, I think the rules would be looked at, but not necessarily changed.

Clean all the way for this sort of thing.

Also, I am worried that the challenge is not going to happen.

I searched the net and got nothing for bc4.
Maybe we (all those checking this thread) could get the next comp going.
It would be a great time for another comp, especially considering that it may be the last board challenge before gt4 is out.

So yeah, what do you guys think?

Oh, btw,
I think they would just change the race instead of trying to work out contact rules.

GT3times has the honor of hosting the next Board Challenge. Arwin and Supra4 are doing the modding. Stay tuned for more details.
