Race Intermediate vs Sports Soft Tyres

Is there a difference in the wet and dry or just wet?

Both make the PP the same, with the Intermediate obviously costing a lot more. But my question is - if you have both, should you run Intermediate when it's wet and sports soft when it's dry, or just leave the intermediates on in the dry?

I'm not experienced enough to test easily without knowing what is just placebo effect, was hoping someone else had compared yet.
 
I dunno, been wondering myself. Seems about the same to me personally. It doesn't seem like one stands out more than the other on dry pavement. But I do like intermediates more in the rain.

I realized this yesterday. Racing intermediates and sport softs costs exactly same PP rating. On Dry asphalt I didnt feel much difference they both very close. I didnt do lap times testing tho. When it starts to rain, Intermediates starts shine the difference is quite noticeable.
 
Yeah it seems like they are the exact same in the dry, and I assume intermediates better in the wet, but sports softs are still ok enough in the wet with some cars, far better than racing slicks.

All 3 sports, and the intermediate can deal with water.
Intermediate a little better though.

Basically, unless I know for a fact there won't be rain the intermediate is better. Because it's wider. Although the difference is very tiny barely noticeable on dry roads.
In races with tire wear, sport softs seem to wear down about the same rate as intermediates as well. HOWEVER, sport hard tires are decent in the rain and wear a lot slower. Keep that in mind.

As far as rain goes, it's all about grooves. If the tire doesn't have grooves and its wet it's going to suck.
I've Basically gotten used to tuning all my 600pp and higher cars with race intermediates. Makes them more versatile with which races I can bring them into.
(Unless Its for a Daytona or high speed track, then I use racing hard and pray it doesn't rain lol)
