Hi guys,

Good to see so many familiar names still around! What track / cars are you racing this tuesday? I will try to purchase as many as I can.

Later!

Greetings Bergel, nice to see you around again. This week we're using the Lambo LP400, the Toyota S-FR Racing Concept, and the Scooby WRX STi from 2014. The settings are in the opening entry, and at the bottom of page 10. All the action will be on Maggiore East.

Okay chaps, tomorrow's racing will take the shape of a mini championship.

We'll have a rolling start, and the grid will be slowest first. However, the one who sets the fastest time will receive 8 points for his efforts, second fastest 7 points, and so on.

Points for the races (ten laps) will be 10 for first, 9 for second etc.

In addition, anyone who uses two of the cars in the races will get a 3 point bonus, anyone who uses all three will get a 6 point bonus.

At the start all cars will have 65 litres of fuel. Not enough even for Famine to get to the end ;)

I will reset the track after each race to wipe out previous fastest laps.

It is entirely possible that I won't be able to keep on top of the scoring through the evening, but I will update the thread on Wednesday to announce the winner (presuming that it's not bleeding obvious, which it may well be :))… congratulations Sparkz :):) (No pressure.)

Cheers, Zo.

I’m sorry Zo but I’m going to miss the racing tomorrow as I’ve got childcare duties.

Hope you have a great time. I was looking forward to it and had actually practised as well!!

Good to see some old friends back on GTS!

I’m not 100% if I can make it tomorrow :(.

That's bad news Sparkz, but it does throw the thing wide open. It could be a very close fight.

I’m sorry Zo but I’m going to miss the racing tomorrow as I’ve got childcare duties.

I always find that a couple of good lengths of Duck tape (the grey stuff, not the others, they just don't grip the same) and a decent sized cardboard box do the trick Suts. But if you don't have any tape, you'll be missed.

On the subject of tonight's meeting, I'll have the room up for around 8pm, and will reset the track at 8:30pm, so that your qualifying times will be set between 8:30 and 8:40, when the race starts.

Cheers, Zo.

She’s too big, she’s in the middle of 11+ exams and the wife’s away at a conference for 4 days so I need to do some proper parenting!:eek::odd:whatever that is?!?

Apparently the Communities "service" is "currently undergoing maintenance", so voice chat may be unlikely tonight...

Douh, I completely forgot I was running on the free 3 (2?) days of Plus Subscription. Probably gonna buy a year sub on Friday. Have a fun race all!

Race 1 Highlights

Barely in the race, Venari still decides to have a "Dorifto" moment because, why not.

BB taking second place from Dann.
20180612225801.jpg

Oh no.
20180612225825.jpg

Not good.
20180612225835.jpg

Bit ambitious from Famine.
20180612225842.jpg

Me taking evasive action.
20180612225848.jpg

This is hilarious.
20180612225853.jpg

Lovely shot.

Any closer, that Lambo will make a good snow plough.

As usual, good races all, thanks for setting this up @Zolon32. Have a good week all.

P.S @Zolon32 the final positions for race 1 is as follows:
1. Venari
2. You
3. Dann
4. Me
5. Famine
6. Simba
7. BB
8. Goofy

Bit ambitious from Famine.
Aside from trying to coast the Subaru for 6 laps, I don't remember doing anything that could be described as ambitious!

Every time I followed @daan through that left-right in the Lambo, I got a huge run on him and just got too close to see the right-hander properly, getting spat out to the left every time. I think I worked it out by the fourth attempt

Note: My upside down liveried Impreza was a tribute to Colin McRae, whose Impreza usually was upside down at least once every rally.
That's why I crashed the first time - I couldn't work out why the plate said "ueep"...

P.S @Zolon32 the final positions for race 1 is as follows:
1. Venari
2. You
3. Dann
4. Me
5. Famine
6. Simba
7. BB
8. Goofy

Thanks Sparkz. I don't suppose anyone could tell me the starting line-up for the first race could they? I need that for the final points tally.

Cheers, Zo.

Also, did everyone except BB use all three cars?

The starting line up for race 1 was as follows:
1: Venari
2: Dann
3: BB
4: Famine
5: Goofy
6: Simba
7: You
8: Me

Goofy used the SFR twice (just checked all replays). Everyone else used all three.

Before I go on to the scores, I thought I'd tell...

THE STORY OF BB AND SIMBA.

BB IS PEDALLING HIS BIG FAT SUBARU HARD, AND SIMBA'S SQUEEZING ALL HE CAN FROM HIS CRUMMY TYRES. AFTER EIGHT LAPS OF RACING THEY CAN BARELY BE SEPERATED.
tdm1.jpg

HALF WAY THROUGH THE LAP AND BB HAS PULLED A SMALL GAP.
tdm2.jpg

AND HOLDS ON TO IT AS THEY ENTER THE FINAL LAP...
tdm3.jpg

BUT SIMBA COMES OVER ALL HEROIC ON THE BRAKES
tdm4.jpg

AND GETS UP THE INSIDE IN TURN TWO
tdm5.jpg

BB'S TRACTION KEEPS HIS NOSE AHEAD, BUT SIMBA HASN'T GIVEN UP AS THEY SCRABBLE THROUGH TURN FOUR
tdm6.jpg

HALFWAY THROUGH THE LAP AND SIMBA'S ALL OVER HIM
tdm7.jpg

BB GETS DEFENSIVE ON THE APPROACH TO THE FINAL CORNER OF THE RACE
tdm8.jpg

SIMBA GOES WIDE, TO GET ON THE THROTTLE EARLY
tdm9.jpg

BB'S DOING 89MPH, SIMBA IS ALREADY AT 93.
tdm11.jpg

BB HAS ACCELERATED TO 111MPH, SIMBA IS DOING 116
tdm12.jpg

115 AND 120!!! WILL SIMBA GET HIM?
tdm13.jpg

NO...
tdm14.jpg

AND FURTHERMORE, FAMINE CROSSED THE LINE JUST A THIRD OF A SECOND EARLIER, DOING 48MPH...
tdm15.jpg

THAT'S RACING!

And so, on to the results.

After race one it looked like this:

Zo, 16

Sparkz 15

Simba/Venari 11

Daan/Famine 10

Goofy 8

BB 7

After race two it was like this:

Sparkz 36

Zo 32

Simba 27

Venari 25

Famine 24

Daan 23

BB 17

Goofy 16

And finally:

Sparkz 54

Zo 52

Simba 40

Venari 39

Daan 38

Famine 34

BB 27

Goofy 22.

Congratulations to Sparkz, and to Mark for being the trailblazer for pit-free victories in the Countach.

And now, on to our TORTOISE AND HARE racing on Tuesday 19th June.

We will be using the XBow, absolutely stock, 100% power and weight.

The track will be Dragon's Gardens, thirteen laps.

The grid positions will be a bit random, selected as follows...

We'll all do one lap following track-setting. The final two figures of your lap time will determine your grid position, the lowest number being in pole, second lowest 2nd, etc. ie, if a racer does a lap time of 1:15.401, he would be ahead of someone who did a 1:14.542. Someone with 1:15.833 would be between them.

The first half of the grid (rounded up in the event of an odd number of competitors) will start on S/H tyres. The rest will start on S/S tyres.

It will be up to the S/S guys to pick their way cleanly past the S/H fellas, and get as big a gap on them as they can, because...

Everyone pits at the end of the seventh lap, not before, and not after (there will be plenty of fuel, and the tyre wear will be negligible).

The S/H guys put on S/S, and the S/S guys put on S/H. Let the hunt begin!

Yes, the S/S fellas have one extra lap, but they start behind the S/H drivers in the grid order, it's an interesting variable.

For the second race, it's exactly the same as the first, but the opposite, if you see what I mean. Opposite grid positions, opposite tyres. And maybe, just maybe, a little bit of a handicap if anyone's running away with it too much ;)

So, there you go, dust off your XBows, and get cracking, they've got fabulous grip on S/H, and stupendous grip on S/S. Hold your breath through that long spectacular right hander, and blast down the straight... Marvellous!

Cheers, Zo.

I’m hoping to make it for Tuesday (more than likely though but we shall see).

Gave the X-Bow a go last night on SH tyres and it’s absolutely wonderful, it’s not so much tail happy but it will bite you in the bottom if you aren’t careful with the throttle, yet to try it with SS tyres don’t want to imagine the amount of grip it will have through the corners, really looking forward to this assuming I can make it.

I'd really rather like to do this one, but I'll be in Gloucestershire, driving a Mitsubishi of some kind.
