You've probably realised by now that I'm not making it tonight.
No, we're waiting :D

So I did make a minor cock-up on the sheet - nothing major, but it looks like 4th place would be unduly rewarded compared to 3rd place (although we were using the new, improved ET Fuffle, so it didn't make a giant difference). I also seem to have put the data in for Red Bull Ring Short instead of Red Bull Ring, so we had a 7-lap race that should have been 5-laps tops. *belm*

Final ranking after four races was:
1 - @Famine - 23
2 - @Sparkz_360 - 19
3 - @Venari - 17
4 - @Zolon32 - 17 (countback)
5 - @JockeP22 - 13
6 - @buybon355 - 11

Next cars would have been:
bb - Subaru WRX STI Type S
Famine - Ford Mustang Mach 1
Jocke - Renault Sport Megane RS Trophy
Sparks - Ford Focus ST
Venari - Ford Mustang Mach 1
Zolon - Ford Focus ST

In case you're interested, the primary ranking factor in the ET Fuffle is "mean gap to mean race time" (G2M) - how far away each of your race times are, on average, to the mean of each race's overall time. Positive values are faster, negative values are slower. That ranking looked like this today:

bb - -1.2%
Famine - +0.2%
Jocke - -1.0%
Sparks - +0.5%
Venari - +0.8%
Zolon - +0.5%

Venari's result is skewed by a huge 22 second victory at Sainte-Croix - had he been 20s slower, his G2M would have been -0.2%, and that would have changed both his car and Zolon's car for race 4; the sheet is trying to slow him down more than his points ranking should.

I'm still going to have to look at how the sheet calculates races 2 and 3, as they commonly have the largest swings - that seems to be why Venari was in a faster car (3.5% deficit in race 2), but I'm broadly fine with what it did today.

I'm sure you'll get there Famine. Good handicapping is the best way to decent racing in my opinion.
Generally it takes four races for the old Kerfuffle to get its eye in. By six we'd probably all have been on the same bit of road throughout everything - with the odd lollygagger or rabbit - but we only got four in because we started late 'cos internet and some incredible belmer made race two three laps too long. I think race five would have been close; looking at how it assigned cars, it was already adjusting to @Venari's slow second and fast third races. It's way, way smarter than I am in that regard, and I have no idea how...

I have had an absolutely insane idea to set the initial conditions so that the ET Fuffle is on point immediately, rather than making it work out what's going on over four races. That will require some fun hours with a pen and paper, and a VLOOKUP function...

I like this Kerfuffling business and I learned a few things after the latest
kerfuffle this week.

1. I need to be better prepared next time because I thought I had all the cars in
Famine's list, but it turned out I was missing some of them.

2. I have come to accept the fact that I will never win a race if I'm in the lead and
Famine's chasing me. That has been the case three times the last two weeks and
I've cracked under the pressure of seeing Famine in my mirrors each time, and Famine's
grabbed the win on every occasion.👍

3. How does it work to be able to hear the mics? Last time I had mics working was back with the PS3.
It would be better to hear the mics than to have the host have to text me.

The lobby was a bit shakey in the beginning and I don't know if all this was due to lag or not
but it looked like it, and it looked funny to me. First incident is with Colin and Andrew:

And the final race of the evening, a nice one:

Solved!

Probably solved!

So long as you have cars 10-20, you'll probably be fine. If you're slow, you might end up in 21-25. If you're quick you might end up in 5-9. You'll need to be catastrophically slow or outrageously fast (by comparison) to end up outside those ranges.

10-20 is currently:

Volkswagen Golf VII GTI
Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
Dodge Challenger R/T
Toyota 86 GRMN
Ford Mustang Mach 1
Ford Focus ST
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible (C3)
Renault Sport Megane RS Trophy
Toyota Supra RZ
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD)
Subaru WRX STI Type S

And as you can see from last night, we didn't go outside 12-20. Seems we're a well-matched unit :D

You'll need to be in the party.

For some reason, GT Sport does not accept voice chat. You can only communicate within a party, which is a PS4 function (go to the XMB, look for the thing that looks like headphones and mic). Odder still, the party is limited to just eight people, so if we have a roomful, there will always be some people who won't be able to hear.

I tend to set up a party at about 8.00-8.15pm before a RR lobby at 8.30pm.

The lobby was a bit shakey in the beginning and I don't know if all this was due to lag or not
but it looked like it, and it looked funny to me. First incident is with Colin and Andrew:
Yes, BB couldn't see me and I didn't have the start timer. We both restarted and all was well. The thing at the end of the race was BB trying to get Venari's slipstream, the door-slamming bastard...

... although since I'd destroyed him earlier in the race by a rude re-entry and a T-bone at 100R (after Venari hit me off the track, the ass-ramming bastard), it was probably fair enough

Are you guys racing any other nights in the week (in an organised fashion), or is it just Tuesday's?

Tuesdays only as far as I know, but I just turn up and drive. @Zolon32 is the man in command :D

I think the new AutoETKerfuffle is now sufficiently advanced that we can do it a bit more often in lean weeks (if for no other reason than people have bought ~32 cars, so they probably want to use them). I'd like to test it out again, maybe Tuesday 6th/13th, with a few more people, just to see how it behaves - especially with the newer pre-ranked starter cars and a wider mix of paces. If we can get 8-10 for an evening and crank out eight races that would be ideal. What I might do if it all succeeds is put the file in the main forums again, so everyone can do Shuffle racing in GT Sport :D

Whatever is happening, I’m away visiting Hayling Island for the week, so will not make it unfortunately. Enjoy

So fuffle or Duos tonight?
I'm pretty sure that most agreed on 30th for another first attempt at Duos, but I'm easy for either.

I've not seen @Zolon32 since last week though - and he's not been online since Wednesday...

Tuesdays with RR and I try to fit in Monday and Wednesday evenings when I can:
They're only about 60 minutes per event (including qualifying) and I've started to become friends with pCARS2 now and most of the cars in the game. It's so different compared to GT Sport though. You I have to wrap my head around completely different controls and physics three times a week. :dunce:
I couldn't even drive a nail into a piece of wood in pCARS1 let alone a racing car, so it's nice to be able to be competitive in
2.

If we can get 8-10 for an evening and crank out eight races that would be ideal.
I'm up for that. I believe I'm still a few cars short of having each one from the list, but I'll try and purchase them all.
I think I only have two million credits though or thereabouts.

So fuffle or Duos tonight?
I'm good to go for either one.
I'm starting to suspect that the possible (but highly likely) scenario we've all been worried sick about has finally happened,
Zo has been kidnapped by aliens.

Yeah fellas... (imagine me running into the room, sweating and out of breath...) It's the start of Duos tonight, sorry I've been out of touch.

On that subject, as you know, for the first race the grid positions will be randomised, with each team balanced front to back.

@Sparkz_360 @Sutsagrd @buybon355 @AndreasR @JockeP22 @daan @Venari @Famine which team member do you nominate to be ahead of the other please?

@Harsk100 you will be in the middle of the grid since your team mate is away.

Cheers, Zo.

Ok, thanks Zolon. Can I use the KTM today?

Something has come up for tonight and I won't be able to race. Sorry @JockeP22

Perhaps it'd be better to remove me from the duos.

CarDuffle it seems.

@Zolon32 Not that it really matters in the long run, but you're sort of on the wrong thread for the Duos. Which is confusing things a little. :)

Zo has been kidnapped by aliens
I think it might actually be the reverse in that Zolon has got a few aliens chained up in his garage. From the planets Deyannis and Cupalli probably Zo. ;)

Oh, go on then Harsk… By that I mean, yes you can.

Something has come up for tonight and I won't be able to race. Sorry @JockeP22

I can make it today 👍
That's unfortunate Daan, I was getting used to having you back with us. Can you team up with Jocke Aaroh?

I nominate @Sparkz_360 to go ahead in team SAS. I think I’m in the KTM and Sparks is in the AMG.
Thanks Suts.

You're both there or thereabouts chaps, I was being held by some secret government agency who suspected that I was an alien. It seems they got me and Dusty mixed up

@Aaroh I've just thought last weekend the clocks in Europe went back one hour. The UK is now back on GMT. I'm not sure if yours have also altered and if it will affect you for racing. If it helps it's 7 o'clock here at the moment. 1 1/2 hours before the race.
