Rage: Kerb Flips

At least it CAN roll online.
Once you know the Kerb stay away.
Like the poster above stated, stiff ARB's will become unstable over bumps Kerbs etc.

Ask kobiyashi after his incident at Singapore. He launched his car on an excessive kerb.

I think it is fine, and adds some strategy to tuning. I have cars tuned for maximum grip and lateral G's but I know to stay away from the curbs due to stiff suspension and bars. Even braking hard will jar my screen especially on bumpy roads.

On the other hand, I also have cars tuned to absorb curbs which gives me an advantage when attacking curbs, but I sacrifice a bit of handling.

I think the game fairly accurately depicts the curb flips. Some tunes will flip on a curb, while another tune will just walk right over it.

I like it. For a few seconds it makes me feel like a Saudi Prince in one of those videos.

This happens all too often with my Elan...just the other day after winning a race on Infineon NASCAR the computer rolled my car. Because its so light you have to chance what curbs you can attack for instance the entire first section on the Amalfi track is pretty flat out

Coincidentally, just today I drove my M3 around the Nordschleife just to know how the car feels like for the first time. Yeah, felt good but before even I start my lap, I attacked one of the curb which I thought I attacked it normally - sent my car doing 2 wheels and if I didn't counter steer it I would've rolled it

It just feels weird everytime I attack a curb because it will just set the car off... Should there be a fix? Welll, maybe because now it's almost impossible for me to attack the curbs like I do in GT5.

Soften the anti roll bars a bit, take the stiffness down a bit and probably turn the bump stiffness down too

That'd work hopefully but at the same time Turn 10 has got to take a look at this too though because this thing shouldn't be happening on almost all the curbs :P

Owh, thanks for the tips mate 👍

Coincidentally, I've been to the Nordschleife and drove it in a rental car. I wouldn't recommend attacking those curbs at speed. They're taller than they look. :)

I dont have an issue with it. Hit the curb wrong, you are going to bounce. Some are higher than others. Most are put in place to stop racers from cutting or going over them, in real life. Some you can, some you cant.

There is nothing to "fix".

I agree, there's a downside to setting one's suspension setup so extremely fine-tuned for handling after all. Cars aren't meant to have that stiff of suspensions, combine that with speed, and you'll get unexpected results when a tire is forced up in the air.

As with FM3, i get to post my favourite BTCC clip ever......... enjoy.......

Its one of the best bits of Forza, just cause it doesnt happen in GT5, doesnt mean it does not happen in real life... lol

aka curb in the U.S. :D And I am at about 200 races, can't remember ever rolling over. But I have seen the AI do it into a wall. Most recently with a Speed 12 that totally missed the turn on Swiss Alps and hit the railing and flipped on his side. And somehow, just before I came around on the next lap, just before I got to where he flipped, he righted himself and was back in the race. Guess the stewards pushed him over, lol.

I (accidentally) got my little Datsun on 2 wheels last night, while being pursued by some persistant taggers... :scared:

That made me laugh lol

While it can happen IRL yet it's very rare. Forza goes overboard with the flipping as the tires that stay on the pavement are not effected at all by the fact the other side is being lifted up. (even if the tires are already max out)
It's the same thing with breaking windshields. Some games goes overboard since IRL windshield are designed to take a hard blow as you wouldn't want flying glass in every wreak.

p.s By the way it's not impossible to flip a car in GT5 by tuning the car. Cars are normally by default set up to resist flipping.

Do you watch BTCC or the V8Supercar races? Its pretty comman for cars to go up on 2 wheels. Not as huge as the car in that clip, but it happens quite a bit.

The reason you dont see it often like the clip above, its usually because the driver is trying to aviod doing that.

Its not overboard at all.

I think the super glue sand is a bigger issue.

Yeah, I went a little wide on the esses part of the Infenion Raceway into the kitty litter. From what I remember, I was travelling at around 150km/h but as I went into the kitty litter somehow it stopped immediately and travelling very slowly just to get back to the track....

Also if anybody noticed, if you ran wide on the 2nd last corner of the Hockenheim circuit where there is a drag strip - it's like you're driving on an ice! That really shouldn't happen right? I don't even think a drag strip being that slippery.

Do you have any idea what said effect would be?

The tyres that are still on the ground would get a vast increase in downward pressure which also equals a vast increase in grip. Massive amount more grip on a car already on 2 wheels with a high centre of gravity plus lots of turning angle = roll.

If you know what you're doing, it's very easy to avoid it happening in FM4 regardless of your suspension setup. (obviously excluding roll over tunes)
