Rally Tracks

If that's the case, we can confirm the Toscana (?) Rallye then.

Can we get all the pics of the WRC cars posted ITT, because I think we should be able to confirm a few more tracks...

Oh, yeah, Toscana Rally is confirmed since we saw the E3 Trailer and people on this forums identified the backgrounds as Tuscany, and also there's a platform where the Focus WRC is seen that reads "Rally Toscana".

I'll try to look for more pics, but I don't think we've seen more tracks like this.

I'm beggining to think that rather than an indication of other tracks it is just the normal livery of the cars.
That's what Polyphony did in GRAN TURISMO 4 - the rally cars often have plates for "Grand Canyon Rally" and "Yosemite Rally" as a part of their actual design. But I don't think PD would include them if they weren't in the game.

Subic International Raceway (what in heck is this?)

Do you have any pics showing this?

That is undoubtedly the Tokyo R246 logo, can clearly see the text on it on the corner of the bonnet.

I don't get how it's labeled with "Rally." What does that mean? A rally course in Tokyo R246?

And yes, the one on the Citroen's hood looks like it's randomly placed. Anyhow, there shouldn't be a Tokyo R246 logo in any of those cars, so surely it has been added by PD.

The logo on the citroen is on the same place as in real live.

The pictures of the rally cars must have been made during the rally of Japan, I don't think there will be a rally Japan (would be great if it is).

So what real life course is rally Japan?
There is a Rally Japan, it's a part of the WRC. It's run out of Sapporo on Hokkaido and it's mostly muddy and gravelly forest roads. Polyphony seem to be aiming for a tarmac rally, a snow rally, a gravel rally and a mud rally. It probably won't be on real-life stages, but it should be a fairly accurate re-creation of the terrain.

Does it mean that stickers will change, depending on the track? probably.

So the sticker on the front indicates the track you are racing on and the WRC sticker on the side only changes when driving on dirt, or driving on the real WRC stages, since the Suzuki has the rally Japan logo on the side.

The Subaru Impreza has the Rally Japan sticker aswell, while driving on gravel or sand:

We have no way of knowing

Be great if that could put some fast gravel stages like the thoasand lakes or Rally New Zealand.
If the locations are real but the actual stages are original, the Polyphony will probably make all manner of variation in the circuits.

This also gives a hint (IMO) about the number of tracks we will get

I dont think will have real rally stages, i think that wrc licence it's only for wrc cars.
I hope at least to have some "fake rallies" stage copied from the real landscapes of wrc championship ( but we saw toscana rally.. it has nothing to do with wrc) However i'm sure i'll be very disappointed by rally in gt5.

when you compare the language used for features on both gtpsp and gt5.

gtpsp 35 courses, 60 layouts.

gt5 - Over 20 Locations.
- Over 70 Variations.

for me its just a way of describing the location... i.e locale.

when you watch the christmas day asian gt trailer showing madrid and rome. both places were clearly represented by a global map.

also in gt5p there is the global map system widget which displays weather.

id say location = locales. ie global location.

so over 20 global locations. with 70 track variations within that.
so say uk might have 8 tracks.

silverstone gp various variations (3), london + reverse, top gear track and runway, brands hatch = 8.

and gt fantasy tracks will fall into a real world location.

When did that ever get confirmed ?

I think it's nothing but the dream of an annoying Filipino that keeps adding that and Manila to the GT courses Wiki-page.

Tarmac rally? So we could have...touges?

But cool if they could put in super special stages ( two cars racing had to head on there own track) .

Especially cool if they replecated the Wembley Race of Champions track from a couple of years back (when Carl Edwards beat Schuey!)

Eiger is one of my favourite track, but to me the one in GT5P isn't very fun. I thought it was too short. I am looking forward to play a really dirty eiger rally track.

I have high hopes for WRC in GT5. If it has less than 4-5 tracks I will be very upset. However, I am sure PD will do a good job of it.

but gtpsp actually has 45 courses and then different variations.

Believe that if you want, but I think you will be dissapointed.

A sony spokesman has already confirmed that location = track and not a country for examople Daytona Speedway = 1 location and the variations are different track layouts at that venue.

I'm starting to think that the track editor might just be for rally. For normal circuits it would definitely be too complicated, but for rally it's really possible to just give users a relatively large area of terrain an design a layout, put some trees and other stuff, and you are done. They could give us three or four templates (rally events) and there we have our track editor. I've seen the light! :P
