Let me first state that I am a programmer. I make my living writing code so I'm not just talking out of my ass.

WHERE ARE 🤬 PRIVATE ROOMS? Do you realize that the amount of code it takes to "match" players and do this random junk is much more complicated than a simple freaking private room system? I mean really... why do you think we had server lists long before we had "match-making" in multi-player games? Because its freaking SIMPLE. Its like one of the most basic things you could ever write...

PD is completely dragging their feet, and its really bothering me. I'm so sick of the puntfest online that we have at the moment that its really putting me off of GT completely.

PD: Please stop tweaking the modeling on the latest freaking car you are working on, spend a freaking week and give us private rooms already. WTF is seriously your damn holdup?

No, Jdigital has a good point, he has ust gone about it in the wrong way. we should have had private rooms ages ago, why PD chose to hold off on that one I don't know. Sure they will be in GT5 but why not in prologue, it should be a fundamental online feature but they chose to leave it.

My first guess would be the online for gt5 is a bit diffrent than what we got in prologue, so it might not be as straight forward as you guys think, and also they might simply have deemed it not worth the time, especially if they are concentrating on finishing gt5 for a christmas release!

I do understand where he is coming from,it's just that i don't really care about that right now.If it isn't in GT5 then i will complain like everyone else is doing,then would be the time to moan.
I'm just grateful that at least PD gave me a game to enjoy(even though now it is getting a bit boring) and i am not having to wait till GT5 to play a PD game on my PS3.

PD promises Private rooms for FULL game.. GT5P had its share of time, Private rooms would add gameplay hours by giving us private rooms. As well we would test it out the whole stability of private racing before full games comes out.

SO PD.. where are private rooms?

By the way its not like PD has to stop the PRODUCTION for a private room patch, I bet they are all working in groups on separate projects. There is a team for Online stuff, so they should really put the damn patch in! That is all GT fans want for now. Wait is just killing us, extend the life of Prologue by simple patch with Private rooms and Filters for cars, PP, course, and rules.

I'll say what I've said for a while now - please let PD drop Prologue now and focus on getting GT5 out, I'd rather have GT5 out sooner with a finished online system than regular updates and patches to Prologue's online.
I don't see why some of you get so frustrated over this though, getting yourself all pent up about it isn't going to make it happen any faster.

PD and Sony are taking huge risk if they wont test 'some' features in Prolo, before release... imagine amount of whinging if GT5's online structure still sucks, and penalty-system is just same as we have now... or race-qualify's, voice-chat, tyre-wear, damage-modelling, and fuel-economics are somehow ruined. Many game-magazines will whack GT5 then, cause so many other companies has done things so much better.

I'm very scared that GT5 aint worth of all this hype. I'm glad that I found new passion for these long months.

That seems to be true, so you'll have to wait for the real thing if you plan on private rooms.

If they don't give us something like private rooms, I'm probably only gonna be a little 🤬, it doesn't exactly, mean EVERYTHING to GT, it's all about the DRIVING!

Exacly. We do need to test it

Imagine if Prologue never existed. And GT5 would be a release. Look at Physics engine.. remeber Prologue Spec I and it's physics engine, it was nothing really new over GT4, it was, but not huge leap. Now with Spec III, tire modeling, and etc, it feels much more realistic.
Imagine GT5 full game ship with SPEC I physics engine.. it would SUCK!

Now Online, what if Prologue never had online? and GT5 was first game to have online.. Remember SPEC I with DL issues, LAG issues? GT5 would have LOW review because of DL issues and LAG issues.
Now that we tested out Online, in SPEC III, DL speeds are improved, There are no significant LAG issues, Last time I raced it was 6 cars, No more JUMPING and other stuff, sure still some lag here and there but better then before. So yeah.

In order for successful HUGE game as GT5, Private rooms should be in Prologue to have best experience in full game.

I think you are exaggerating how useful testing their system would be, really the only testing in the sense of public release that is needed is server and general lag testing. You don't need private rooms to do this.....and I believe they have plenty of data on this already.

Testing their online lobby features can be done in-house, as it has been done with all their other game features and they seem to get that right most of the time.

Its really nothing to get all worried or angry about.

Waiting for GT5 is like some kind of Zen exercise.

There's absolutely no functional or business logic to the way PD goes about things IMO, but that's the way KY likes to do things & we're stuck with it. While it's completely maddening for us, the GT consumer, you have to admire KY's single-minded focus on turning out his creation.

Let's just hope it turns out to be worth the wait...

My guess, is that Sony told PD not to worry about private rooms - all of that would be included in Home. I agree it wouldn't be difficult, but let's consider Sony the parent and PD the child. When your parents told you not to do something .... hopefully you get the point.

Your best bet is to hop in the chat and find someone to race on odd time slots - to me, that's been the closest thing to having private rooms. In the last few nights, I've had races with just me, GTP_CWR, and GTP_drama_kyd whenever we wanted - on the odd case that someone else did show up, they were long gone before the first lap was even complete.

And YO 👍 for representin Flo Rida my homey - there's more Floridians at GTP than you can image.

if its such a big deal spend 35bucks and go race Ferrari Challenge. i find way more slow people on race tires rather than punters in pro physics. It is SOOOO boring racing people who can keep up for 1/2lap.

flat shifting should have never been taken off
and finally just a few words every month maybe a pic or 2 about what the Eff is going on over there. I mean why all this secrecy no one else makes driving games like them, so showing a few photos is only going to help them.

PD you need to start learning about how lack of news, and lack of information is VERY bad for business.

and PD learn how good it is to give some info/interviews, if you gave some info you would realize how much it is good for business

I can feel you Pal. I'm also tired about all this moaning about lacks in GT, specially about rammers etc etc... but, like someone said long time ago, all this moaning can also make PD/Sony to react and give us better game.

In the world, there would be still some dictatures more, if people would not complain.

In my life, I've been running three different companies. I can say that it's never a pleasure to have complaints if you respect your company, and try all you can to being in highest standards... but if no-one complain, you can easily miss some things what are annoying customers, and they dont come again because that.

One good example from my recent business is Champaign-glasses... girls often use somekind of water-proof lips-stick, and in low light I could not see it before someone said to me. After that I always handwash them and check against light. I could give a long list about things what have been better after getting honest feedback from customers, so it's not always only bad thing to say what is annoying in product.

If someone complains about prize of pint, I tell to him that prize is right, but youre in wrong place compared to your wallet.

So if critizism is constructive, based to the facts, and you maybe have solution too... I think it's only good to say it, cause PD certainly reads these sites, and if they are even littlebit clever, they think about how they could make things right.

I think they have better things to do than read millions of rant posts saying basically the same thing. I think they realise what we want and have done for some time, they're just putting it all into GT5 rather than Prologue.

Also, moaning isn't necessarily positive all of the time, people are always going to moan and complain no matter what, I think Polyphony have done a great job so far and they've barely ever listened to anyone else. Why should that change now? I'd rather have PD as a company who makes great games but doesn't actively talk to the community than as a company who does the opposite. And, frankly, looking at other developers attempts at intereacting with the community, I can see why they don't. Anything they say gets taken out of context and thrown back at them, especially around hot topics like release dates and damage - they were better off saying nothing at all.

Calling PD retards isn't going to get far anyway.

As for whoever said Sony may be telling PD not to put private rooms in yet....then PD are making a massive mistake, like the last time they listened to Sony. I doubt this is the reason although I agree they are probably working on some Home features which may be delaying it (and making it more worthwhile in GT5 rather than in Prologue).

I'm not trying to do the cliche bitch-n-moan post but I think you guys are over complicating the complexity of private rooms. At this point, I'd write it for them free of charge and I guarantee it'd be ready in a week, two weeks at most. Absolutely no reason for the delay.

Also: Nice to meet you guys and can't wait to race you all. I've had a few races with GTP_ tagged people and they are always great. I don't wear the GTP_ tag yet but I probably will once I get a little more active online.

Online is really just no fun at the moment because I'd say that 90% of my online races have found me punted off the track at the first turn

I'm with you JD, I'm extremely disappointed in PD for the lack of private lobbies, especialy when the game was advertised on TV they made a big deal about "Race with up to 15 friends online".......................no you can't, even if you syncronise watches there'll always be a random element of who gets in and who comes alomg to ruin the party. That's the main reason why I gave up on GT5P 3 months ago and since have been having an absolute ball with RACE Pro. Yeah some aspects of the online on RP are not great at the moment until the patch is released, but at least the private lobbies are working fine and the comms work.

You can't make a direct comparison to RP with GT5P as they are completely different games but I can say I enjoy RP much more than Ferrari Challenge and enjoy Ferrari Challenge much more than GT.

In my list of the main 4 racing games that I play and enjoy GT5P definately comes last.

I know people have the right to complain(and boy do they use it) i am just saying all we need to do is tell PD what isn't right with the game like the SL55 incorrect rev counter,stuff like that and just hope that they read it and give us news about the release date or info about GT5 that's it.

The 1st time i used the net to check out a PD game was GT4 just the news before the game was launched and i was happy now all i read is people complaining about things wrong with PROLOGUE and it's a bit depressing.

I don't mind someone starting a thread to list issue's such as the SL's rev counter and such,but so many people are so bored now that they would rather b**** and moan on a new thread.

To JDigital i'm not talking about your thread in general,it's just that there seems to be a new moan thread every week or they add their moan to another thread.
Maybe PD are keeping private rooms for GT5,has anyone thought of that and thats why i am not going to worry about it now,if they bring it sooner, then just think of it as a bonus.

I do not think PD is taking TOO much time.. well it's long time, but we all know they will surprise us with new features, a polished game, and HUGE library of cars and tracks. Oh yeah maybe even damage possibly.

What I am disappointed at PD is that they do not share too much information with the fans. They do not post any status on how much they are done, any new TECH info that they figure out in making GT5 look of feel much realistic. It is not the time of making the game that we should be impatient with, its the lack of info PD never really offers until last minute.

Private rooms are not only for friends. It's a password protected server. The only limitation is the people you gave the password to.

SO GTPlanet can create a Private room, send in E-Mail Passwords for the event, and people with password would sing in that particular private server. That how it suppose to be done.
