Didn't someone post a video not long ago of this car crashing on the last lap of Laguna-Seca?

Lol from the ALMS series.. the fight between the Porsche and 'Vette, yeah.. don't think it was a C5-R, looked newer. That made me sad :(

That was a C6-R, not a C5-R.

Seen this car 4-5 times in the UCD so far, of course I bought it the first time it came up. I've known Andy Pilgrim (one of the drivers of #64) for the past 12 years. 👍

Don't know why it's rare or why it's more expensive than the Oreca Vipers. Considering the C5-R's got destroyed by the Vipers 3 straight years before Dodge pulled funding. Great cars but the Factory funded Orecas had there number. they are both two of my all time fav GT1 cars. I loved there battles, though largely one sided, over the 99-01 Le Mans. Wish they were both premium. C5-R murdered everything after the Oreca Vipers left though. Both cars deserved a better showing as they were both extremely dominant GT1 cars for many years especially the C5-C6R's, post Oreca Vipers.

In GT5 #91 Oreca Viper is a beast and with the turbo can win any series save FGT if you can drive. #51 Oreca Viper is a lot slower for some reason even though it makes same power as #91. I can't wait to get the C5-R now. Wish they had the authentic C6R but we a pretty close representation with the Z06 and ZR1 RM's.

So much for Standard cars being inferior. I've been looking for that damn Viper for months and haven't seen it. Should have traded for it when I could...

i scored a 0 mile viper from the ucd also have the vette but dont like it that much to bad i cant get rid of it now.

It is hard to find in the UCD and usually does not show up until after day 1300. Was easier to find before the trading cap limits so it is a lot rarer now than before trading restrictions as you are depending on the UCD or a birthday / ticket 1000 to produce the car.

Awesome car

First I saw was on Race Day 54 on my second account, I had been searching for ages, snapped it up, and gifted to my main account before the trading credit cap :)

I have an '00 vette so I HAD to have this car in every GT? that it was offered.
I've got 2 of 'em....and I've seen it come up in the UCD 2 other times. It's pretty rare.
The C6 zr1 race modified is a MUCH better race car though.

A car I DON'T have yet is the black GT40 LM Test car...I've only seen it come up in the UCD once and I was broke at the time.

i still remember watching this on tv for the first time back in the 09 season, incredable race with a incerdable ending.

Those few laps were the essence of racing. This is why Ive loved Le Mans series for so long. I wish the vettes stayed in GT1 but this was incredible as at least in GT2 they have competition. Love the C6R and the Flying Lizzard Porsches.

I wish PD would capture the sound of these vettes and port them in game. Or it would be nice if we could attach sound files to cars. Id change the Vettes in game sound right away. Wonder why PD didnt use authentic vette V8 sound. Cant be copywrite issue. I cant take the Vette RM's seriously anymore after seeing this again with the sound of that v8 fresh in my head lol

There is nothing unrealistic about boosting race car power. They're more than likely underpowered in "stock" form.

Why does everyone like the ZR1 RM? The Z06 is better by 100 lbs and it can range in hp from 550-650+, which is a more realistic number for a GT1. Unless you're racing with 700+ hp races against the slower prototype cars, the ZR1 RM is a useless car to me.

I know there is two, but i was trying to single it out, it was just in my mind at the time.

I've only seen it twice in the UCD and snatched it both times. Great GT car, strong and handles great. In fact I've done up a RM ZR-1 in similar colors for a modern update, turned out nice 👍

The black Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car is Premium and is available from the New Car Dealership in the Gran Turismo Garage for 3.6M Cr. :)

Dang it, I just had one in the UCD and didn't buy it, mainly because I did the demo and didn't really like the sound (yeah, the sound). It's alright, though, because I have the Oreca Viper and they're pretty close in terms of performance..

Destroyed? Sure the Vipers won all through 1999, it was Team Corvette's first year racing & developing a brand new car & race engine (originally a 6.0 liter, later upgraded in 2000 to a 7.0 liter). The Viper GTS-R started racing in 1996. Three seasons of racing development over your rivals is huge.

The Viper's Daytona 2000 Rolex 24 hour race margin of victory over the C5-R was less than 31 seconds. I was at the race & saw more than that wasted on slow pit stops. The C5-R also beat the Viper at the GP of Texas & Road Atlanta's Petit Le Mans.

For 2001 things got bad for the Viper, with the C5-R taking wins at the Daytona Rolex 24, GP of Texas, Le Mans, Sears Point, Portland, Mosport, Mid Ohio & the Road Atlanta's Petit Le Mans. While the Viper won Sebring & Laguna Seca.

Not sure I'd call that destroyed. The 2001 race results might be an indicator of why Dodge pulled their funding for the Viper race program. I was disapointed Dodge never tried to come back with the newer generation Viper Competition Coupe.

Don't think I've seen it in the UCD, unless it popped in shortly after I started playing (on Release Day).
Eight-hundred seventy-five total cars, it's the only Standard Chevy left for my collection - and I WANT IT!

Peace...

I want no longer.
It just showed up in my UCD, and now has a nice, quiet little home in my garage. Can't wait to take it for a spin!

Peace...

It appears more than once! I got mine around 1600 game days although I don't think that has any correlation to when others will find it. After I bought it appears all the time hehe.. typical ;)

WalkerInTx I won't go in to the shenanigans that both BMW and Chevy did racing engines that were not homologated. Porsche made a big deal about that but Dodge didn't. The C5R's didn't really have a chance until they added the 7 liter engine which was against the rules if memory serves as no C5 Corvette could be bought with a 7 liter motor at the dealership. Also the Vipers were heavily restricted to make them eligible for the GT1 class and yet still dominated Le Mans and most of the other series.

Chevy cheated with the 7 liter engine but the Vettes definitely became a force to be reckoned with. you are right about the fate of the Viper in 2001. Lots of mechanical problems and crashes will ruin anyones season. Dodge pulled out because of money not because of the Vettes lol. Have you noticed how many times Chrysler has been sold?

I really wish dodge didnt pull factory funded Vipers. The battles with the Vettes were epic. I throughly enjoyed those years of Le Mans. I love both cars and really don't care which one was dominant but a case can be made for the Orecas dominance when they both raced each other. I don't like cheaters and didnt think it was right to allow the vette to have a non homolgized engine while the Viper continued to be heavily restricted. Sounds more like politics than racing. Same thing happened later years with BMW being allowed to use a non homologized V8 to finally compete with Porsche.

i saw this last night for first time since i had the game. Makes me wonder if PD are slowly releasing certain cars into OCD week by week becasue befor ei always used to get teh same cars day in, day out but since last patch i've noticed a lot more cars i've not had pop up before

It's not cheating if the rulemakers allowed it, & the 7.0 was approved by Grand Am, the ALMS & FIA. When I asked about that years ago, I was told that the rules allowed the 7.0 engine based on the fact that the next generation Corvette would have one. And the fact that Chevy would make the C5-R engine block available for purchase at any GM parts counter.

The Viper group could have done the same thing since the upcoming new car also had a bigger engine, but they didn't, they quit racing instead.

I think BMW got their V8 in using the same "we'll have one in the next generation car" rule that Chevy did.

Definitely some epic battles though, the Vipers were a serious force & you knew there would be a tough fight for the win.

WalkerInTx I get what you are saying about the engines etc. But that's why I said it was politics. The rules clearly state the car engines have to be based on current production engine. To let both BMW and Chevy skirt that rule to me cheapens the game. What's the point of rules if you will break them. Also Dodge could not have done the same thing as the Gen III viper with the bigger engine would not have been in production until 2 years later. It seems for the sake of ratings and competition sanctioning organizations will bastardize there own rules when it suits them or maybe money under the table etc. It's technically cheating in my book but, as you say if they allow it, what ya gonna do lol.

It's water under the bridge now as they say and to tell you the truth back then I enjoyed the GT1 class more than LMP and Formula 1. With the Vettes in GT2 now along with Ferrari, Porsche etc I'm also enjoying GT2 alot. Just wish BMW would come back in LMP class again. Doubt we will ever see Vipers in Le Mans again.

C5r is cool. I was hella happy when i got it. but dissapointed it wasnt as fast as the viper, ford gt's or the other vette race cars.
