Here's an idea I have to increase the number of nominations in the queue: allow two cars per person in the queue (like we did for Thanksgiving 2014) until the number of cars in the nomination queue go up to 20.

If I'm still here after the two year mark in September I might try something new to boost interest.

Fact of the matter is, the wall just doesn't attract as much attention in general since we've gone through 1100 cars. Nominations are down along with vote numbers and I believe that if I hadn't increased the time between poll threads, the list would be down to a single car at any given time with the same half-a-dozen members contributing. If doubling has a limited impact then I'd rather wrap things up and give the wall an extended break, unless someone else really wants to take charge during this increasingly less-active spell.

2016+ Koenigsegg Regera
exclusief-topgear-koenigsegg-regera-20.jpg

Body Style:
2-door coupe
Engine: 5.0L twin turbocharged V8 + 3 electric motors
Power: 1,500hp combined
Torque: 1,475 ft lbs
Weight: 1,470kg
Transmission: Single-speed direct drive
Drivetrain: Mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive
Additional Information: Swedish for "To Reign", the Koenigsegg Regera combines an 1,100hp V8 with 700hp worth of electric motor power. Differing max power peaks mean total combined power stands at 1,500hp rather than 1,800hp. The Regera's party trick lies with it's radical Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) system, completely removing the traditional gearbox and replaces it with a complicated hydraulic clutch-slip mechanism for more efficient power delivery whilst reducing energy losses compared to other transmissions. The Regera is billed as a more luxurious alternative to the hardcore Agera. Only 80 will be made, and all are sold out.

Body Style: 2-door coupe
Engine: 1.8 liter twin-turbo I4
Power: 249 hp
Torque: 236 ft-lbs
Weight: 1080 kg
Transmission: 7-speed dual clutch automatic
Drivetrain: Mid-engine, rear-wheel drive
Additional Information:
The Alpine A110 is a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car introduced by French car manufacturer Alpine at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017. Deliveries are expected to begin in late 2017 for Continental European markets, and in 2018 for the UK and Japan. Both in name and design, the new A110 harks back to the original Alpine A110 produced from 1961 to 1977.

Based on an all-aluminium construction, the A110 is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged 16-valve inline-four engine mated to 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Developed by Renault-Nissan and reworked by Alpine engineers, the engine has an output of 249 hp (185 kW) and 236 ft-lb (320 Nm) of torque. According to Alpine, the A110 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.5 seconds, and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

1964-1966 Ferrari 275 GTS

1966+Ferrari+275+GTS+by+Pininfarina.jpg

Body Style:
2-door convertible / spider
Engine: 3.3L n/a V12
Power: 260hp
Torque: 217ft lbs
Weight: 1,152kg / 2,540lb
Transmission: 5-speed transaxle manual
Drivetrain: Front-engined, rear-wheel drive
Additional Information: Built by Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina for the US market, the 275 GTS was presented alongside the 275 GTB at the 1964 Paris Salon, marking the return of an open top model to the range since production of the 250 GT California stopped in 1963. Only 14 of the total 200 that were made are right-hand drive.

1997-2006 Land Rover Freelander Coupe

Body Style: 3-door hatchback coupe, 2-door convertible
Engine: 1.8L I4, 2.0L BMW Diesel I4, 2.0 L-Series Diesel I4, 2.5L V6
Power: 95-174hp
Torque: 154-177 lb-ft
Weight: 1380-1525 kg
Transmission: 5-speed automatic, 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: front engine, front-wheel drive, front engine, all-wheel drive
Additional Info: Was built in both England and Thailand, but was originally planned to be constructed in Finland. This was Land Rover's first entry to the compact SUV market; it's primary competitors were the Jeep Wrangler, Suzuki Escudo, Isuzu Amigo, and Toyota RAV4. From 1997-2002, it was the best-selling AWD vehicle in Europe. The bulk of the parts used on the Freelander came from the Austin Maestro. Oddly enough, the Freelander was also intended to be badged as a Hyundai for Asian markets, but this never happened. Some Freelanders were sold in Australia, America and Canada. The Freelander featured unibody construction. The V6 model got a 0-60 time of 11.1 seconds, and in it's slowest spec it achieved a time of 14.6 seconds. Unlike other Land Rover vehicles sold at the time, this generation of the Freelander was not a luxury vehicle.

Actually, I should get a vote going on this rather than pull the trigger on what I had planned.

So, two options:
-Implement double nominations now in the hope that it'll boost activity
-Put the CW on ice until the new year and see if interest arises in 2018

Double nominations, obviously. We only have three nominations in the queue and if nothing changes, the # of nominations will stay this low. My philosophy is: more nominations = more frequent polls = more activity.

I fail to see how halting the CW for three months will benefit. People will quickly forget that it existed, and honestly, I can't imagine too many people will be upset if we get rid of it. The C&G sub-forum is only getting deader by the minute, and there could be even less nominations next year if nothing changes.

I know this isn't a discussion thread, but I'd say wait until 2018, if not just be done with it altogether. Over 1000 cars have been polled already, so there's not many that people are going to want to put up, besides new ones.

Honestly, I think it makes more sense to scrap the cool wall for good instead of wait three months then start it again.

Double nominations for a week and then go through the remaining queued nominations. If no one bites, then scrap it for the time being.

I was thinking more like 6-12 months, if not indefinitely.

I also don't see myself curating beyond this year, so anyone taking over or altering the format *cough*racecarsonly*cough* can do whatever they feel is best.

People will quickly forget that it existed

It's not the possibility of it being forgotten that I see as a problem. Especially when it's been revived in the past with even more success than it had prior to its lengthy break.

As @GranTurismo916 touched upon, we've covered so many cars over the years that people simply don't want to put in the time to compile info on something old or obscure for the sake of an interesting nomination, or discuss X variation of a car that's already been discussed dozens of times before.

Double nominations for a week and then go through the remaining queued nominations. If no one bites, then scrap it for the time being.

I'm willing to give this a go. Starting tomorrow, ending on the 9th. Any cars left in the queue will be polled every other day from that point onward.
