Anyone here like 1911's?
Guy below you don't care for it, but it's one of the most popular handgun designs ever..... I certainly love it!
Vat? Glorious Russian iron sights is not good enough for you? You think decadent capitalist optics vill help you, comrade? Nyet. Magnification is the opiate of the masses.
I heard that AK's are actually super accurate rifles. If it wasn't for the canted front sights & lack of optics, we'd be all dead, Zed!

I like them, I just don't trust the design to use in a serious situation. Also the price is a huge turnoff. Every time I catch myself drooling over some $4,000 custom 1911 I remember that I could buy an 870, 10/22, Glock 19, AR15, long range bolt gun, and all the goodies for the price of a single handgun. :dunce:

Also Russian ammo lovingly packed by the best peasants wasn't exactly match grade.

The way I would put it is that AK's are far more accurate than given credit for. They are more than accurate enough for combat and plinking.

Most 1911's cost about quarter of that, but I get you. 👍 I still look around for more modern used guns like P220 or .45 Glocks sometimes. Glock 23, too.

It's all thanks to the dummies who makes all those silly jokes about them....... sorry rage racer :P

Without getting into any debates, where are you guys on this?

At first, I thought they were banning firearm related articles from the website. I had no idea people were selling/buying guns on Facebook. Me, if they were banning gun related posts, I'd boycott Facebook. If they were banning gun sales, I thought they never even allowed that in the first place. *shrug*

No, they're banning ALL firearm related companies and products. So I understood. The article is misleading saying it's only blocking sales of firearms. They're going to ban those pages because of 'sales' which means buying them in shops, too. It's advertising for guns and that's what anti-gun liberal douchebags want to have stopped. But, no actual selling is going on, but may have happened, but such activity would be illegal in most states.

Well the federal government finally reversed the 7 roun capacity limit in NY and set it to 10 so you can now buy gun that come with that capacity. At least that's some sort of hope.

What a damn shame, I'm sure all the gun manufacturers were rushing to get the "7-round" magazines to the market. I can respect wanting to improve gun control, but these politicians currently leading this charge always come up with the dumbest changes that will do very little to nothing. :dunce:

Well, the 2 leading candidates plan to reverse the entire act so let's just hope and pray at this point.

So what happened? Under what law was it ruled unconstitutional? Link? (Genuinely curious.)

I overheard my father talking to my grandfather about it, and my dad is literally all over it (reading up on it, videos all the time etc) so I know what he's saying has some truth to it. Not sure exactly what happened, but from what I heard, the feds basically said that's bull:censored: and reverted it.

Check out the Guns thread. I just skimmed thru there, but FK posted a link just little while ago. 👍

Man, thats a cool AK. :dopey:

This thing is called AKAR-DA. A conversion of a .223 Izhmash Saiga.

Looks like AR/K-47.

Love AK's, but I can't believe how clumsy it is to mount optics on (most of)these rifles, even today.
The AK-74M (and the AK-10X series based on it) has a scope mount (dovetail joint) on the left side of the reciever.

Like this - PSO scope, just like the one used on SVD.

The Spetsnaz doesn't always think so. ;)

It did have "AR" in the name afterall. <<< dumb joke.

That side mount was what I was referring to, though the one you posted looks more sturdy than the one's I've seen in the past. Awesome pics, as always. 👍

I saw this gun last night in a online ad....... I had it in my possession little after 9am this morning(He happened to be driving right past my work):

I've been looking around, but I never see a 'compact' I like & I can get a great deal on. I saw this clean used USP for $750, we settled for $675 + two bricks of .22LR. It's another full-size handgun, but oh well. :D

It worked out great. I paid less than $15 a brick(black friday 2012) for those, and I didn't have to drive anywhere & meet some stranger in a strange place, I don't own a rape whistle.

Thanks guys...... I guess I could say that "it worked out great" if the gun actually fire at the range.

I took the Hogue grip off for now. It feels fine without it. *shrug*

I hope I can hit the range this weekend. 👍
MD handgun license
What is this world coming to(says the Japanese guy lol).

From what I gather, you should not dry fire this gun. Sucks. I guess it's time to look for some .45 snapcaps.
If HK had wanted elite operators to have rubbery, finger-fitting grips they would have provided them. You made the right choice.
It's very similar to the Hogue I have on my shotgun. I don't really mind it, but this pistol's pretty good sized & I do not need added bulk!

I'm now off to youtube to see about takedown. :D

Edit: I just finished light cleaning & lubing the gun. Thankfully, take down process is more similar to Glock than the 1911(Apparently Browning inspired/based design). Lucky!

I guess this is worth posting. It arrived at my FFL yesterday. Please excuse the poor quality pictures. I cannot take good pictures indoors with my phone. I will get more and hopefully better ones sometime later.

The lighting in my room is just awful for taking a decent picture with my phone. The phone does pretty well outdoors where there is plenty of available light. I will try and figure something out to get some better ones.
