Like this? :sly: (My buddy at work has shot one of those, and said it wasn't much fun, I think they are cool though, nothing like dropping a bear with a hand gun).

A .357 would be a cool gun, my
Uncle had one but I've never shot it. A .44 would be cool too, if I got a revolver it would be one of those.
A .38 wouldn't be bad. My last experience with a .38 was awesome. No recoil whatsoever.

I really want one of these just to have for fun:

That's a Kel-Tec PMR 30. It shoots .22WMR, it come with 2 clips, and each clip holds 30. It's supposed to have super low recoil. They are kind of hard to find new though, everywhere I've been searching, they are out of stock. They are only $430 or so. I don't think I'd rely on it strictly as a self defense gun, would be a blast to shoot targets with though.

I still say "rims", but I stopped saying clips awhile back.

I didn't get to go shoot, but I'm going to try the laser bore sighter before I try again next weekend.

Red dot looks great where it is, but the scope, I lose bit of eye relief at this position. If I take off the flip-up backup sight at the very back of the picatinny rail & install the scope where the backup sight is now, it's optimal for the scope.

As it stands, scope seems fully usable where it's at + I prefer to keep the flip-up sight, so I'm going to try sighting it in & shooting it like this first. I have more pics on here if anybody's interested.
I can't go wrong with a 1911, which I've always wanted one. I've also been looking at the FN Five-seveN(people either love that gun or hate it, I think it's cool, I also know it's harder to get ammo for etc). I've also been looking at Heckler and Koch, I like some of there models too.

I have a Kimber 1911 Custom Target II & HK USP in .45... and the gun I want is a S&W .357 Magnum. Are we on the same page or what? Yeah, .45ACP is my fav, but I like 9mm & I think .357 Magnum is just badass. Good luck with this! 👍

I wasn't really impressed with the gun show, it wasn't nearly as big as advertised, maybe 200 tables at the most. A lot of the guns were in pretty rough shape, and the ones that were in good/newer condition, they wanted full price for. There wasn't many deals. It was still ok though, only $6 so I can't complain to much. There was one guy at a table that had several M1 Garands for sale, they looked in rough shape and he wanted over 2k a piece for each of them.

I am not a big fan of gun shows for buying things. The deals are going to be limited. However, if you are in the market to potentially buy something online, then gun shows can be a good option to see and handle things. YMMV.

I've finally ordered some ammo online, my first order was from ammoliquidator.com, they have some really great prices, but after I ordered I read that it's a really sketchy operation. I ordered last Wednesday, and I still haven't gotten a shipping notification yet. I'll give them a few more days, then email them.

Tonight I ordered a bigger amount of ammo from SGAmmo.com. Thanks to @Brett for the heads up on that one, every gun forum or search I've done on that place, has nothing but great things to say about it. I'm not at all worried about the shipment showing up and being right.

I need to make a big online order. The problem I have though is I need a bulk order of three calibers and do not want to spend that much money at once.

Also I've been thinking about a handgun. I don't think I'll really C&C much, as I don't really go anywhere that's needed. If I worked up in St. Louis, I'd definitely would. I've been looking at several models and calibers. The consensus I get, is if I'm not going to C&C, I can't go wrong with a 1911, which I've always wanted one. I've also been looking at the FN Five-seveN(people either love that gun or hate it, I think it's cool, I also know it's harder to get ammo for etc). I've also been looking at Heckler and Koch, I like some of there models too. I would like to end up with a .45 and a 9 millimeter. It will be awhile before I decide though.

I do not really have any experience with a 1911. I want one, but I also do not want to spend a fortune on one either. Five Sevens are interesting, though pricey, both in cost and ammunition. I have never shot one, but would like to.

I am really interesting in the upcoming CZ P10C. I am ready for them to start hitting shelves and reviewers get their hands on them. The price looks to be awesome and I have been wanting to buy something from CZ for quite some time. I really need to just pick up a 75 and a P07 or P09.

I shot one on video:

It's a really easy gun to shoot, even though it's chambered for .45. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Edit: Note that this was my second time at a gun range.

I plan on buying one at some point. I have not decided on how much I want to spend on one. The sky is the limit when it comes to cost and 1911s.

I know I've talked about this before in this thread but a .357 magnum revolver will also shoot .38 Special. But not the other way around. So if I were to but a revolver it'd be a .357 for versatility. .38 special is cheaper than .357 mag so you could shoot .38 for fun and keep .357 for personal defense.

Which works perfectly.

There's entirely way too many different gun manufacturers that make 1911's. I've been browsing them the past few days, and it's almost overwhelming. Has anyone here had experience with a STI Tactical DS or SS? Those guns look pretty neat, but are pricey. It's basically their take on the 1911, and you can get it in several calibers (.45acp, 9 mm, 10mm, .40). The DS are double stacked magazines. I've read a lot of good things about them, but I've read some haters as well, saying if you're going to spend that much on a 1911, you're better off spending more and getting a Wilson Combat 1911. That's a lot of money for a handgun.

On a side note, I got sidetracked and started looking at Holland and Holland rifles, there's no word to describe those. 275k for a Holland and Holland Royal Double rifle that shoots a 1000 grain .700 nitro express bullet. They say it will drop a charging elephant with a headshot , and that's going through 18" of skull. A box of 5 of those .700 express bullets,, are around $300. They are absolutely beautiful guns though, and they make shotguns and different caliber rifles too, for an outrageous price.

I am in the same boat with a 1911. However, I cannot see myself with a Wilson Combat any time in the near future. The prices are just too much.

The more I read on 1911's, the more I'm leaning towards an HK45 or HK45c. @a6m5 can maybe fill me in more on his, but the more I read they are every bit the shooter that mid to high range 1911's are, but a lot less finicky/picky with ammo, less maintenance involved, overall more reliable.

You'll find 1911 fanboys say it's 1911 all the way, and Heckler and Koch fanboys say the HK45 is better, but I've been looking for people that own both. Most of those that I've seen in forums that own both(including Wilson Combat 1911's), said they would take the HK45 if they had to pick, especially dealing with any type of inclimate weather. There's apparently way more upkeep on a 1911.

I have shot one magazine through a HK45. I really liked the thing based on one magazine, though that does not really say much at all. I like my VP9 if that helps at all (it probably does not).

You might look into a more budget 1911 to start out with and then step up to something bigger when you have a better idea on what you want. It is probably what I will end up doing once I get a 1911.

However, now I have shifted my focused to the CZ 75 and all of it variants.

I've read and heard a lot of great things about that gun too. I would probably get one of those before a Glock.

Depends on if you want a striker or hammer fired gun. I have thought multiple times about picking up a Glock 17 or 19, but every time I pick one up to look at it, I remember why I have never bought one. They just do not feel great in my hands. I really should just buy one and give it a go for a while.

I would like to still be able to look whatever way it is I'm walking, instead of being twisted 180 degrees from the waist..

I liked my cousins Glock, it was really fun and easy to shoot with really not any recoil , I don't like the no safety thing though. I know there's different theories on it, how a safety could cost you if you don't deactivate it etc, but I like having a safety.

Safety or not, it boils down to practice.

Lmao!!!

Edit: profanity on a guy's shirt in the first video, do not watch if you are a kid. 👍

Just for fun. Although there was a girl who got killed in Missouri on a S&W 500 fail, she shot herself on the recoil and died.

No worries.

Is it just me, or does almost everyone in here have Premium?
Everyone I see that communicates on a regular basis does, or since I've been following the thread at least.

I finally emailed ammoliquidator this evening, and they emailed me right back with a shipping invoice, so I guess they forgot to ship, but it's on it's way now. I will probably use them again, because they have such a huge selection of ammo, and they have some of the best prices on the internet. The experience with SGAmmo has been great, I'll definitely use them again. Both shipments are due to arrive Thursday, so I have around 700 shotgun shells arriving by UPS on Thursday. :)

I like both? @Zenith used to tell us that 1911 are kind of outdated handguns. Capacity of course is lower(7, 8 round mags) & they are pain to take apart compared to guns like Glocks, HKs. Not that my opinion should really count on accuracy, but I'll just say that I'm more accurate with the HK USP than my Kimber 1911. I really do like how both guns shoot though. Glock 21(also .45ACP), recoil was way more noticeable. With the USP & Kimber, recoil's nothing to me. 100% pleasurable to shoot, all day long.

One of the major deals with handguns(or really any guns) for me are reliability? Kimber had bit of issue with the old magazine it came with(bought used). Bought new mags, also changed recoil springs for heck of it & it's been perfectly reliable since. My first USP(also used) was perfect until what I believed to be misloaded factory ammo blew it apart. Replacement USP, I've shot it only once, but it's performed flawlessly also.

I think HKs would be more practical selection, because they are indeed more modern & easier to maintain? I wouldn't talk you out of either style though. I would recommend handling both, shoot them if you can, then decide. Hope this helps. 👍
