Oh man, I shot my new Swiss K11 for the first time today and it turns out to be a total buddy-gun. I didn't even bore-check the sights and I was already only 5'' to the right at 100 meters. I just tapped the front sight a little to the right with my hammer and a pin and bam, dead center.
I think I have never managed to sight in an iron-sighted rifle this fast, or even a scoped rifle.

Also, turns out it totally loves the first handload I tried in it, you could hardly ask for better results. And the action is smooth as glass, worked it really fast and it felt like manually operating a well oiled swiss watch. Not bad for a rifle made in 1921. :sly:

Almost boring. Well, almost. :P

If anyone is looking for an easy and accurate surplus rifle that packs a punch I can wholeheartedly recommend the Swiss Gewehr 1911 or Karabiner 1911.

Well, I took the first baby step. Ordered a Spike's Honey Badger stripped receiver through a local shop; has to be shipped from their California store, so a few days to wait which is fine. I am leaning towards a full upper kit, but I may spring for this if the deal is still available since it looks to have everything but said receiver.

That PSA isn't bad at all. The EPT trigger is real smooth, zero grit little to none take up nice crisp break. I've never had any issue with PSA stuff. Had a full 9mm AR15 from them, it was great!

I'm not at all familiar with building ARs, but I thought a full upper like that would cost more. Good looking AR. 👍

Those AR15 kits look fun. It's a shame everyone is targeting the ArmaliteRifle-15, as commendable as the reason is.

I thought I'd ask a fun question to encourage some discussion.

What is the strangest platform/firearm you've shot?

I think your thought is on the money since it was originally listed for around $700. My mind is going back and forth on whether or not to grab that deal now, but I would like to have an 18" barrel just because. :boggled:

For what purpose do you want an 18" barrel?

Other than just because lol

At the moment you can build a FULL AR15 for under $400. Won't be name brand anything, but will function just fine.

I'm just glad that you are moving on this. Like @Obelisk mentioned, they are unfairly coming down on AR rifles(I also read on one tweet that AK-15 is a "military grade" weapon that needed to be banned. WTF.). I almost expect another "Assault Weapons" ban by next Administration.

I just googled that lower you were talking about & noticed they have cool logos on them. Did you get the Punisher logo one? :P

I wish I had some money. I'd settle for $500~$550 ARs sold on sale around here typically(Ruger, M&P, etc.), but I've decided to save money & just get better with the guns I do have, at least for now. 👍

Honey Badger. Almost picked the Snowflake but figured that’d be a bit much.

My buddy has the Punisher one, though as well.

Speaking of the current crazy things read, I wanna know where you can just walk in and buy a rifle for $130, according to 1 person. They’d be gone in minutes. :dunce:

I liked the Punisher logo, but I did see that Honey Badger etch & it looked even better. 👍 *googles snowflake logo* It's a unicorn. Yeah, probably too political these days.

Maybe 10~15 years ago!

'tis finished:

I like the ACSS reticles so I just decided to get a Primary Arms/Holosun RDS to put on the gun. I know I said earlier that I was all about the buy once cry once, but I'm not going to cry over a <$100 red dot that I can eventually put on other things.

Also, I wish the Haley sling didn't have the pad. The actual sling material is smooth like butter and feels so good. It's the pad that chafes and chokes.

Not happy with my Troy PAR so far, I shot it at 100 meters and I just could not get it to shoot acceptable groups. :(

Just before I shot the Troy I consistently shot sub MOA groups with another rifle, so I doubt it was me, I am an experienced rifle shooter and I was having a good day. I tried two different ammo brands with two different bullet weights and they shot equally bad, about a palm sized groups at 100. While it is not a precision rifle for sure thats still unacceptable accuracy, I am getting better groups with my 100 year old straight pull K11 battle rifle with iron sights at the same distance. The scope is a Redfield which are very good scopes, the mount is a Burris 1'' which is good quality too. Screws are tight, not sure whats going on.

I am going to handload for it and see if I can improve things, but its really puzzling. I never had a rifle that shot that bad out of the box. The weird thing is, I managed to shoot exactly one good group, the rest total garbage.

I suspect either the load or maybe something in the gun is going out of alignment as you fire.

I suspect a mix of both, though.

It's such a unique design to start with + I'm guessing the rifle wasn't designed with high accuracy in mind?

If I shot a palm sized group at 100, I'd be going "not bad!", so it's really hard for me to relate with this problem...... :P

I've had this happen , ended up being a poorly machined crown. Could be a million things, but this will screw up accuracy.

LOL :P

Thing is, I know several people who own one and they shoot really really well, 1 MOA groups or less - I'm like 5 times worse with my rifle but I am at least as good of a shot as them so something is going on here....

Hm, I forgot about checking the crown, good idea. This rifle already had a problem, maybe there is more.... :scared:

Mine was real bad. Couldn't get any better than 2.5 MOA from aa bench. After getting recrowned it is now .75 MOA.

I tried to go rent a P365 today at my favorite range. I brought a ton of ammo but didn't bring my gun (because I still can't get my front sight off despite having long ago removed the rear). They actually told me that I wasn't allowed to rent a gun unless I had my regular gun -or- I had another person shooting with me. What the heck? If I was going to kill myself with one of their guns, I wouldn't have brought so much ****ing ammo. :irked: So that irked me a bit.

I found a solution though. I realized that I never actually sent in my taxes yet. So this is on its way...

I couldn't decide whether to go with a 10/22 or a Mk4, but I wound up going with the pistol since (A) that luger-angle grip feels incredible and (B) all the ranges only go to like 30 yards max. I'm actually thinking of going back to glock since I enjoyed handling that Luger grip so much. I'll have to see how it shoots. I think I'm more used to that hand position thanks to my Kendo days. It also gives me more real estate for my big hands.

How much does something like that go for? I love those Ruger's, but I've never shot one.

They look like the grip couldn't be more different from Glocks though?

It's a steeper angle, even more than Glocks. But that is as opposed to the 1911 style frame that comes on the 22/45s. Watch this video:

It pretty much goes over every reason I wanted the vanilla Mk4 tactical. Ruger should friggin pay these guys because they practically sold me the gun. Their channel is definitely worth subscribing. Anyway, I got mine for $399ish on Grabagun. That was the best price I could find. You can probably do better on a 22/45 because they're a lot more available. My local shops want like 600 bucks for the non-threaded luger-style ones so I was like yeah no.

I also wanted to pop in to say that my gun shop got those new maxpedition Entity backpacks in. They're pretty awesome. I couldn't believe how light and small they looked on the outside, but they actually are pretty roomy and functional on the inside. There are a lot of great new bags and packs coming out from pretty much every manufacturer. By NRA show at the end of May there should be a flood of awesome new gear on the market.

Having owned both a Luger style and 22/45, you cannot go wrong with a Mark IV. I really should buy a Volquartsen trigger.

I am hearing good things about the post "soft" recall P365s that are shipping. It seems that all of the issues have been resolved. I'm still going to wait a few months before getting one though to make sure.

My dad has the Mk III Hunter and the Mk IV is everything i wish the 3 was. The improvements they made make it worth every penny, especially for the disassembly, something ive never tried with the 3 but a dealer showed me in less than 60 seconds at a show.

I totally bought the wrong Ruger .22:

Performance's been somewhat inconsistent with ammo other than CCI, but it might still be breaking in(rarely shoot it).

P.S. Design inspired by Nambu. Are you kidding me.
