So do I have to state which car I am using now? sorry as this is the first organized race I have ever done.

Nope, just show up in whatever car you want, as long as you pass regulations, you're good to go. :)

Sorry, I misread your first question lol. You can choose whatever car you want and you have until the start of the race to decide. You could even qualify in one car and then decide not to use it, but then you'd forfeit your time.

Organized just means the time is set and there are car regulations. It's really not THAT organized :dopey:

No pace laps, just a brief rolling start. You can use any tires. I already sent you a friend request. Send me one if you didn't get it though.

alright, i'll accept it wednesday when we get our high speed internet. Another question, can you guys compare your times offline with mine real quick since I don't have online atm, because in time trial mode I managed to get a 1:01.767 with Racing Softs

Just to make sure, your time offline is with tire wear on, right?

oh yeah it was on, you can't turn tire wear on in time trial mode, but I tested it in race mode and still managed to get around the same time, maybe .100 slower in race mode, but still in the 1:01's

Morning all.. got some practice races in last night with ale, SK', madcow and others...

Firstly: Madcow I hope ur racing Sunday as u are a superb racer. Some real good wheel to wheel action. I'm sure at one point we were 4 wide heading towards turn 3 (just before the bridge)

I kept an eye on my lap times and they were up and down.. possibly because of us racing. But I did manage to set a 1:01:4 at one point. Pretty sure I saw a 1:00:.. at some point from someone. SK looked pretty fast too.

Nice! How many laps did you set for that practice race?

10 laps for the first race, then a couple of 6ers... the soft tyres seem to degrade pretty quick. Anymore than 20laps and ull loose a lot of time on track.

Ok. So would you say you are able to get close to 20 Laps per pit stop on soft?

Not sure about that, but I'm guessing 15 laps is pushing it on softs.

Also going to put the NSX in the "challenge yourself" category, but not for same reason as the Lexus: untuned NSX seems too unstable around High Speed Ring. If you do plan to use it, make sure you practice in an online lounge to see what it's like.

Ok perfect. Thanks alefin!

Hey guys! Looks interesting ..i'm new to GTP, long time admirer lol! I like what I see here and to be honest, I'd like to test the waters. Not sure if I can commit 100% but if there's still room I'd like to try!

I'm familiar with the basic rules and have a few hours of online racing on my resume, i'm courteous and clean and looking for something new!

Plse let me know if that works for you and if there's any other info you or I are missing.

Thks

Sorry for the late posting. I meant to get it out here sooner. Some of us were discussing on Friday that the Woodone GT-R is lacking in comparison to the other GT-R choices. All the specs are identical, but it earns a lower PP rating, with good reason. It just does not seem to offer the same kind of performance, even at the same HP, weight, downforce, torgue. Weird.

Thank you kirktreks/alefin for organizing this race! Really nice racing with everyone. I had problems with my mic so not sure if you heard me before I left the room. Looking forward to racing with RRS again soon!

Congrats c4!!! Looking forward to racing again with you too dude!

Race results are posted at the top of the thread (main post).

I noticed that SKJ did not really give us a good start. He never actually set a pace. Instead he just gradually accelerated.

>>> For future reference, POLE SITTERS, please set a consistent pace at any speed below 60 mph -- for at least a count of 10 -- so that everyone is moving in a group. Then FLOOR IT - no gradual accelerating, stealth start crap. There should be a distinct and NOTICEABLE breaking of the pace speed.

Otherwise, I think we all had our share of incidents, not naming any names (Ty), but it was a ton of fun. I hope everyone had a great time. See you next time!

yeah sorry about the pace thing, it was kinda confusing, I didn't know how long you guys wanted me to keep pace.

No problem. It was your first time.

Still, I wanted to use it as a learning opportunity. We did not set a minimum "pacing" time, but I think keeping a fixed and level speed for a count of 10 is bare minimum.

Imagine you were behind a pace car and everyone was moving together in a pack, and then the pace car pulled off and the green flag waved. That is the kind of start the pole sitter should try to simulate.

It is also a learning opportunity for the hosts. It will not be the last time that a new guy will end up on the pole. We need to figure out how to get that message across quickly and clearly.

If that is not possible, we may need a policy that first-timers are not allowed on the pole/pace position, and instead, give it to the fastest experienced driver.
