Here is a link to the last iOpener Enabled news:

The partners are going to capture high accuracy live action GPS data which can be integrated into next generation of WRC video games.

Still in the future, no mention on GT5 Data Logger, the best on the site is:

So on the long term we can imagine that many racing games on PC will be iOpener Enabled. Will the live racing technology also work on consoles? Can people see an iOpener Enabled Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo in the future?

iOpener technology can be applied on all platforms; PC, Playstation, X-Box 360, iPhone Apps, all portable devices with an internet connection... everything is possible, though it will be launched over time for it entails a sever development path. iOpener Enabled is the connecting factor between real and virtual racing, and is platform independent.

I think it's pretty solid know that iOpener is going to be implemented in the new WRC game and NOT in GT5.

Doesn't really matter actually for me.

I have been accepted as test driver on the Simbin based RTR beta.:)

Next thing I have to sign a none-divulgation agreement and can not tell you what I find of it.:grumpy::yuck:

I got the BETA key ages ago and forgot I even had it.

Played it again tonight, but had to download all the new cars. I absolutely love the new Ford GT LM car. :D

I gave my email address at the iOpener stand at the Zolder track during the CleanWeek a few weeks ago and I haven't received my beta key. They assured me that I should receive it within a week.

:odd:

It's not fair if Mad is playing I can not win, nah, nah, nah, nah

MarcoM, since he is less then half our age, he should show some respect don't you think? On the other hand guess we will remain slow and rather learn from the young champion then slow him down. Go Mad94, Go, Go ...

I have accepted the fact of life that I am usually slower than other.

I play the games to enjoy my very sparse free time. Usually this means playing single player games or meet with people in real life and then do multiplayer games.

So if I want to race on Zolder I fire up GTR evo :)

I tried the current RTR TT after a long time and my goodness, what a blast! I don't know why, but this game (albeit still in a beta state) is so very much more immersive than Prologue or even the SLS AMG on the Ring. :P

Yeah, as I said I tried it again after about 5 months of not playing and I absolutely love it. It's much the same as Race 07 and GTR Evo but I love it nonetheless. :D

^ That is exactly what I thougth when I played it last night. I love the Corvette and Ford GT. What a blast to drive in this game.

It's fun that I was not good with the Diesel powered car. The shifting is very tricky. The RPM bandwith is like 2500 - 4000 rpm. Still fun though.

Did not have enough time to get really started on it, but the code worked, I'm in, but not going yet.

How long did it take for you to receive your code?

Honestly I can not remember, I guess I waited for asking till I received my new computer, since the old one could not support the application graphically. Estimated from that 1 month. But they might do it in batches with new releases.

i heared this sooome months ago and i thouggt wow this is really hard to do but after searching a little bit about it ,i found that it is very easy
all race cars have telemetery
they take the telemeteries and put it into the game
example:if in the real lewis drives with 300 through eau rouge than the "AI"drives it on the same way...you know what i want to say ...

but there is a very big problem
if the f1 gp starts than i am playing in the same time this game and i cant watch the race lol :) it would be very good if you can download the telemeteries of a race and than you can play it after the real race (i heared that it will be possible)

i cant wait to drive in monaco hahahahahaha

The hard part for the developers of iOpener is to make sure that the real race cars ingame don't drive through you when overtaking.

kikie hehe XD
i think you dont have understand that
they take the telemetries and send it to the online game ,thats all
you drive with the real drivers but the real drivers dont drive with you XD they dont see you

if you say the real drivers shouldnt drive through you than how it should work?
the real drivers dont see you

I think it is you whom don't understand ;)

The cars of the real drivers are visible in the game. So when you are playing iOpener and you're competing in a real race, you will be driving against real race car drivers. It's normal that they don't see your virtual car driving on the race track IRL :P. But you can see the cars of the real race car drivers ingame. It's safe to say that the real race car drivers are faster than us. So, if a virtual car of a real race car driver ingame is faster than you, it will overtake you. But because a real race car driver can't see you and isn't even aware of you (because you're still playing a game) this virtual car of the real race car driver will drive through your car ingame.
It's the same principle when playing a race game with a ghost car. Sometimes the ghost car drives though your car. with iOpener, the virtual race car of the real race driver is the ghost car, so to speak. And it will drive though your car when overtaking. iOpener has to find a way to solve this problem software wise.

:)

And that's what I mean and that's still the challenge for iOpener to solve.

Actually that is not for iOpener to solve. They just provide the telemetry. In RTR the overtaking by the 'real' driver is solved by having the AI take over the car while overtaking and to make a clean pass (so not drive through you). After the car has passed you, it gets back in-sync with the actual data.

I also believe iOpener makes the virtual version of the real car move out and pass you. They asked me if I had trouble with it, but I did not , when I missed an exit of a corner the recorded car moved out and passed me on the side, where I was on the driving line.

But more serious stuff:
First time ever: Race live against the pros of the FIA WTCC at Circuit Zolder

On Sunday June 20, 2010 we give you the chance to live your dream, and become the next star in motorsport as you will race in real-time against the pros of the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

================================

I'm going into extensive training and preparation of my racing car!

Edit: Wheel works and upload of data seems OK, all ready, but still a bit slow. Man some of these corners in Zolder have difficult to define breaking points.

I've been praticing today for next Sunday's live race with Coronel's WTCC Seat Léon. Still struggeling without ABS in this game, but with the Léon it is easier to get a clean lap than with the FIA GT cars.
What I really like in this beta game, is the option to move your seat back and forth in cockpit view. Combine that with head tracking, and I'm all set. :sly:

I finally got a beta key but still no steering wheel and no gaming pc anymore. Motherboard is "kaputt".

Sorry to hear that. :guilty:

Last month they said that all who have subscribed will receive a key. Did anyone not get a key yet? Tomorrow's live races should be a blast. 👍

And a blast it was. Lapped on the first race, but second in the second race (some 9s behind Tarquini and 6s before Coronel). 👍

So, it's you against the real race car drivers and no other online participants visible?

I got the beta key directly from Bram. I was supposed to get one but I never received a beta key, so I contacted Bram.

Correct, it is only you against the iOpener Enabled live cars. In this race there were only two, so it was a bit of an empty grid. RTR is still beta and I expect it will be a while before we can race a full grid, but it will always be only you as an online driver against the live drivers.
