Yes much much better with the lowered roll bar. Good job.
Are you going to leave the bedliner out so the roll bar clears? You could even cut a little notch in the roll bar on each side where it hits the bedliner and weld a filler piece in where you cut the notch.

Not a bad looking project truck and that snorkel is pretty ingenious, why pay a bunch of money for something when you can fab it out of PVC . I've always like trucks with roll bars on them too, always looks cool. You going to put some KC Daylighters up there or something?

that's the first time I've seen someone cut down a rear rollbar. most guys I know would have jacked it up 4 inches instead!
as long as you don't get too grody with a lift kit (sounds like you're gonna be subtle about the lift), it'll look good. around here, people have absolutely no taste when they lift...they'll jack the truck a foot and a half in the air, slip 35's under, reguarless, and run around. I can see a Jeep like that, but when someone soes it to an old Hardbody or an early eighties Hulux... *rolls eyes*

AWESOME!

This is a great build to keep track of

thank you.

for now im going to cut the bases down to 1 inch and then put a piece of 3 inch pipe in between and botl them together. this way i can mount the bases to the bed and put the bedliner back in, then bolt the roll bar to the bases. when i get a beter box im not going to use the bedliner, when that time comes i will weld it together.

the snorkels that you can buy for these trucks are around $500.00, my snorkel cost me less than $100.00. the roll bar has mounts for 2 lights so i will probobly add some later.

not a huge truck or ranger fan but I always love to see a cheap project like this.

subscriced

thanks.

i dont plan on lifting it alot. im going to get 2 inch coil spacers for the front, then a 3 inch body lift. that should be plenty for 31's.

i forgot to post these pics of when i cut 4 inches off of the roll bar.

i installed the roll bar and bedliner yesterday.

first i cut the bases down to 2 inches and cut 4 pieces of 2 3/4 pipe to go inside them.

then i drilled through the bases/pipe and bolted them together, after that i bolted the bases to the bed and test fit the roll bar.

i then removed the roll bar and set the bedliner in on top of the bases. instead of trying to measure where the holes go i simply used a hammer and pounded around the 2 3/4 pipe intil i cut through the bedliner.

here is the bedliner with the roll bar on.

and here is the truck with the bedliner bolted in and the snorkel extension on.

that ranger should be able to take 31's as stock. my bone stock 4runner easily first 31's (it's allready got a 9 inch ride hight), and I could probably stuff 35's under it with minor mods, or even 45/20's

i probobly could put 31's on now, but i want the truck to sit level first. also my body mounts are shot, so its time to body lift it.

i bolted the rear mounts to the roll bar and painted them flat black, i will do the same in the front when i get a beter drill.

i also added a ranger logo to the tailgate, i saw somebody else do it and thought it looked good.

did you paint them tires on? If so how do you mask well enough to avoid getting paint on the tires? I might be doing this one a beater car soon and wanted to avoid tire removal.

Heh, It's AMAZING what a can of Rattlecan black can do to a set of wheels. Personally did the same thing with the stock Rallye wheels on the Nova, kept the center caps and trim rings silver.

i hear ya, it ended up beter than i thought it would. im going to get new chrome lugs and paint the hubs red, it will look alot beter.

i did the bucket seat mod to my truck, here is the link to where i got the idea.

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/6040tobuckets.htm

here are a couple pics of my seats before i started:

my truck was slightly diferent because my seat belt is not bolted to the seat, but everything else was pretty much the same:

here is the flip down consol removed:

and here is the bracket before and after i cut it off:

and here are the seats in the truck, i decided it would look beter with seat covers so i bought some cheap ones at walmart:

While I think that was a really cool, unique idea, bucket seats in a truck only seem right to me if it's a stick. But still, very nice execution! 👍

EDIT: You know you might be a redneck when you got empty beer bottles in your cupholder
