Aaaargh! Joe, I'm at a UNICEF fund raiser tomorrow night, sorry. I haven't done anything good for years, then when I do it interferes with racing. Let that be a lesson to me.

Sorry about the late notice, I've just been bimbling along in life without matching the two events up in my head...

Better start practising for Tuesday instead then :dunce:

Cheers, Zo. Good luck with it chaps.

Ah Tuesdays

Just a heads up to those that might be interested in keeping the GT6 flag flying.
Zolon is currently running a handicap series on Tuesday evenings using "Hot Hatches". The nippy little cars provide for amazingly close racing.

Come along and join in the friendly fun if you get a chance. You'll already know most of the drivers and the more the merrier. If we could get into Joe's double figures of participants it would be great.

So is that at Daytona or Brands Paul?
Yes

Daytona - 1:56.2 @ 100% offline. Some time to be found! If you could just remove the chicane and the first corner I'll be fine.
Brands - I'll get back to you. But the Audi did feel pretty good.

Hi, I managed a 1:56xx @ Daytona for my fastest and a load of in the wall backwards for a lot of the others. That was at 92% but I had tyre wear on fast...jeckyll/Hyde after about 6 laps. Those two chicanes are lethal if you are late on the brakes - there are no brake markers and I always find the PS3 tracks to be really hard to read for markers and such.

I fixed my G25's H gate gear shift after about 5 years of it not working (broken wires) and am using it again for the Viper - it works really well, apart from the clutch which is just lousy in its bite point/travel.
So, I'll be sans ABS and rowing the gears on Saturday... be careful out there!

I saw an old, clean, Datsun Laurel(70s) today, and I thought for an instant I was looking at an American Cougar. Anyone else noticed the similarity? I never knew the Cougar in the 70s.

Thanks for your message Zo. I hope the evening is a successful one with lots of money raised for a great charity.

Just a heads up to those that might be interested in keeping the GT6 flag flying.

If I had to recommend only one place to race on GT6, it would be with Zo. Unfortunately there's an 8-hour time difference for me otherwise I'd be there in a flash.

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the track..

As no one has commented on the tyre wear situation, we'll leave it ON for this weekend.

Used to love the old Laurel and even considered buying one many moons ago. I suppose from a distance the Cougar might appear similar, but, no, I've never really noticed the similarities before.

As an eight-year-old boy, I used to walk by 2 massive mustard volvo estates on the way to primary school. They were both owned by an elderly lady in her 70s and were always parked inches from each other. Those cars piqued my curiosity in classics alongside my dad's old Cortina 1600E which he claimed only one other car had ever overtaken. Riding alongside my dad, every set of traffic lights was like the start of an F1 race. It wasn't even a fast car by any standards but he made it seem so! That was the car I learned to drive in as a six year old, leaning over from the back, and progressing to the pilot's seat when I was 9. Oh, the stories I could tell ye...

Glad to see the "lap time window" is there or thereabouts for those who have posted here or those I've practiced with.

Zo can't manage and Fad is only 20% sure to make it.

Week 3

Race 1: time to shoot for at Brands Hatch: 1:46.2 or +/- 0.5 sec. (I'm at 86%)

Race 2: time to shoot for at Daytona Road: 1:55.4 or +/- 0.5 sec. (I'm at 86%)

NB. Please adjust your power limiter/tyres to achieve the above times for at least 3 of your practice laps.

very good racing !

Yes Ibu-san,, it's a lot of fun racing the Rockets, and as usual there's nothing between us (except 35 years).

*****WEEK 4: 29th April*****
Times To Shoot For
Race 1
: '06 Venari / Aston Martin DB9 / SH / Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
My best lap at 86% was a 1:37.9 so the time to shoot for is +/- 0.5 on 1:38.4

Race 2: '07 IfAndOr / LCC Rocket / CS / Cape Ring South
My best lap at 86% was 1:23.9 so the time to shoot for is +/- 0.5 on 1:24.4

One for you Joe. It would be neat if this is the same colour as your Dad's.

No, different colour Tom, but ironically he had the railway van next to it! Brings back a hundred memories seeing it as that was the daily runner to save petrol. We must have travelled more than 20,000 miles in various railway vans over the years. (My dad was in the railway for 50 years.) So having the BR van beside the Cortina is a little bit of synchronicity.

Race 1: '02 Tom_Ascar's Pick / SRT Viper GTS / SS / Daytona Road
Time to shoot for: 1:55.4 (I'm at 86%)

Race 2: '03 gu1tar3rich Pick / Audi TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro / SH / Brands Hatch GP
Time to shoot for: 1:46.7 (again, 86% here)

EDIT: UPDATE (200 miles tested at Brands Hatch)

Audi TT time now 1:45.8 (again, 86% here)
1'56.1 on the pad at 90% for Daytona, 1'46.8 on the pad at 89% for Brands Hatch.

That's about right for the transition to the wheel, but I'll have to fine tune by a percent or so in the practice in the lobby!

That's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks Famine.

Tom_A (as well as Zo and fad) can't manage along tonight so there'll be room for Paul and Grampa Al.

Room open after I grab a coffee:P

Hmm. Hopped on the wheel and couldn't beat 1'47.2...

The TT quattro is, it seems, one of those unusual cars where - thanks to the fact that the D-pad buttons on the controller apply a huge amount of lock very quickly - it's easier to be quicker on the pad. If you're on a wheel, when the car starts understeering, theatrically add as much lock as you can... 1'46.3

Just watched the B'atch replay. Well done Colin and Fam - a lot of concentration from you both.

I have never cared for the look of the TT, and now after watching them for 20 mins plus, I see the Austin Allegro from the front view - inspired by the "Leg-over" - oh heck.

Thanks tom. @Famine that was one of the most intense races I've ever had, no room for error at all, and having to run max pace every single lap. Extreme pressure. Reminded me of the first ever reefer Madness race we had.

I had 95% to your 91.5% which shows the limiter system is working a treat.

Great racing. I'll just gloss over the viper race, too many pirouettes to mention!

I just wish I could figure out why the Viper treats all of Daytona's infield braking points as if they were made of Teflon-coated sheet ice.

I set brakes to 6/10 to 'help'. The limited practice I did do did not get me a string of three laps without an error, it's probably a good thing I didn't race...

Well my evening started by joining a lobby to hear @reefer tell @Sutsagrd to keep his finger in,

Tell you what, my finger was cramping by the time I'd finished both races trying to "keep my finger in"!!!:scared: I was just doing what Joe wanted;)
Just to clarify...I race on the pad so I use the triggers to accelerate and brake so it was akin to keeping you foot in!!

Great close racing in both races. I made too many mistakes as usual.
Viper race- sorry to Ibu San and others who I couldn't avoid on the first lap hairpins and at the bus stop. Had a good fight with a few people but got left in their dust.

Audi was brilliant at Brands. Had a great time fighting with ibu san and slant but then made a silly error and fought hard with Richy towards the end of the race...he got me and although I had a near chance to passing I mucked it up.

Good fun. See you all next week.

Longbow, well done on a classy win at Daytona. Great drive!

And Colin fantastic win at Brands - you kept the heid and brought 'er home. Maybe that half-time Stella helped!

I'd never have chosen your combo richy but that was so good. I loved every minute of the race as well as setting the "time to shoot for" in the lead up to it. Like fad's pick last week, it just worked. The Viper too, but it doesn't like to stop does it. Think my brakes were 4/5 at Daytona and 2/5 at Brands.

At Daytona, lap 1, Famine made a great overtake into T1. No one has ever overtaken me there, not even Jammy! Great move, carried out with aplomb and took me by total surprise. Except that, I only made one other mistake the whole race. At the start of lap 2 my rear tyre looked at the grass ( I was nowhere near it, honest) and I spun. Famine followed suit with his only mistake a lap or two later. Longbow was the man - not a mistake in sight and drove like a real pro. Famine, if you and I had managed to stay on the hard stuff then I think we'd have had a cracking race. Shame our guest, @luke norris, never had any practice time as he's a top driver.

R2 was always gonna be a battle in the traffic and with less bhp than everyone else (except Ibu-san who had the same) I was always gonna be a target on the straighter sections which made my corner exit speed very important. Thanks for the taps up the track richy, I needed every bit of help I could get. But Colin and Famine were uncatchable. I'd have fancied my chances if I'd had some clear air though.

The DB9 and Rocket up next week. Can't wait!

Rocket - 92%, fastest 1m24.044, slowest clean 1m24.8xx, plenty of mishaps.

Rule 1. Stay off the kerbs.
Rule 2. You can't use full throttle through T2.
Rule 3. Stay off the kerbs at over 120mph. Seriously.
Rule 4. The last corner is a **** when you want to go as fast as you want to go (you end up in the pits) so go slower.

DB9 - 90%, fastest 1m37.7, slowest clean 1m39.0 but mostly low 1m38s.

Rule 1. Don't let Robert warm the car up; he always gets gravel in the treads of the front left Bridgestone, the frightful fellow.
Rule 2. Ensure your Range Rover 'towing vehicle' is packed with a Fortnum & Mason hamper and put at least four bottles of Veuve Cliquot in the cooler.
Rule 3. Ice is freely available at 'stores' in the western states of our former colony - do not worry about keeping one's Pimms cool. They do not, however, have any clue about tea. Buy a kettle.
Rule 4. In the countryside and especially at the seaside, you're never fully dressed without a brolly and a pair of Hunters - even in Monterey, darling.

hear reefer tell Sutsagrd to keep his finger in, and it ended with me exhausted after hanging on to buybon355's rear end for 20 minutes...

inspired by the "Leg-over"
Sounds like I missed an orgy!
I'll get my gimp suit ready for next week. I've got a special helmet too that I'll polish up. :scared:

I've watched Joe's videos, great racing guys.
Now I like watching the videos because I can get to see all the action I missed. But I also dislike watching the videos because I get to see all the action I missed. :dopey:

I can just image Ibu-san putting Venari's message into Google translate and thinking us Brits are a right weird bunch.

OK.

Ibu-san, I'll send you a message later about the best way to format a message on GTPlanet. I know it's not easy using a language you don't understand.
