Renault Megane Trophy Nürburgring Challenge?

So far I'm enjoying these races, thanks for the tips & tunes. One thing that really bothers me are people that join these events with horrible connections, so much lag screws the race up for everyone else.
 
I have had a few times were cars were violently darting back and forth, across the sand, grass, track, smoking tires, smashing into people. You would think the "driver" would log out? Nope.


I have been having a blast though, but some people just don't want to race. Reel them in for a lap, make a move down the straight and they shove you into the sand after three or four bangs. Makes me sad. lol

I did win an awesome race with a personal best of 5:53.7, the top 4 cars we all within 5:57!!!

Still trying to find my elusive 1:54 controller lap time?
 
Prime case of not on my screen, the person you see lagging will be going around the track just fine in front of their TV and probably wondering why your jumping all over the shop ;)

Its a worldwide event its inevitable that you encounter lag at some point I'm afraid :(
 
I can't even connect to the server now, played a few races this morning & did some tuning, took a break to work on the gearbox settings. I've tried multiple times & can't connect & keep getting kicked. Damn you Sony & PD.
 
I have been on a few times. Only trouble was losing a couple million credits when it went haywire once. I suddenly was by myself started the race and went in between the other cars who stayed in place. They popped up here and there while I ran all 3 laps. Then it showed me second and froze, wouldn't let me exit. Bummer.

But I got on after with no trouble.
I'm up to 4 Meganes, all slightly different set ups and colors, plus A & B suspension options. Haven't found the magic set up for me yet, I've been competitive every race, but want a 1:54 lap and 5:50 or better total time.

Saw a guy run a couple 1:53's today. Maximoto or something like that?




I also ran the 500pp dirt lap seasonal event. Love rally racing!
 
one thing that should be fixed. Is for Friends to jump into the room instead of the game letting u in but not letting u start when u have the car. Also fix the servers it takes for to long to find a room. I seem to get kicked 7/10 attempts. Might be the fact that I will 8/10 times lol

Are you using a wired connection?

PD is right not to allow friends to join IMO, you'd end up with the ability to control the race and the possibility of team based tactics!

Think of GT6 quick match as plain old match made FFA Death Match ;)
 
So, I got a bit bored earlier and decided to build a tune for this car and enter it into the fray. Spent about 3 hours on the tune before I was confident enough with it to enter QM. Here's how my 1 1/2 hours in QM went with "Big Orange." :lol:

First room: Won 8 out of 10 races. First room I have ever encountered with decent drivers.
Second room: Won 3 out of 4 races. Another room with decent drivers, very surprised I was able to find 2 rooms in a row with well behaved drivers.
Third room: Won 3 out of 3 races. My luck finally ended as far as finding rooms with decent and well behaved drivers. Got ran off the track in every race but was able to make a comeback for the win in each race. Not very good drivers in this room to say the least.

All in all, this was my first positive experience in QM after many tries. Pretty happy with how the car performed as well, think I may have a pretty decent money maker here.

That's a good point.
But honestly... I have suspected this happens anyway, though I don't know how they manage it if they can't follow each other. :odd:
The reason I say I suspect it is that occasionally, I see one backmarker pushing out the boxes on lap 1... and then the winners plow through the chicane there straight through where the boxes used to be on Lap 2 & 3. (If you don't touch the grass, you can go over the chicane where the boxes used to be without getting a penalty.)

Confession:
My spouse loaded QM today (I didn't have much (or any) time to play today)... But finally I jumped in for a couple of races.
The room was soooooo dirty. I mean it was more nutty than usual.
So to let off steam... I wasn't crashing anybody you understand.
But I behaved very naughty.
I went SHOOTING over the lawn on the left of the chicane, where you can do a big JUMP and become airborne over the track at the chicane exit. :lol: :guilty: :lol: Weeeeeeee!
(I hope at least it was entertaining for some of the jokers in the room. :sly::mischievous:)

What lap times and race times did you run? How about sharing your tune.
 
Ok, I have found a set up that's feels easy to drive(for this car) and shows promising speed. I'm getting 1:55's easier and have a new personal best of 5:52.5. I'll post it for anyone interested. I've basically tried something from all the good tunes here for something I liked....

I did go back and look at my saved laps from when I was setting up the car, the fastest was a 1'54.198 if that helps. I'm sure if I sat down and hot-lapped it for a few more laps, I could get it into the mid 1'53's possibly.
 
Rajman use pad... lol . Why so fast ? But not all tracks. Learn the car behaviour on this track that consumed lots of time for some people or maybe easy for others. Did you try to the max PP from this car to win the gold at Suzuka ? You can extract extra behaviour on this car especially the LSD. Even F1 champions do have this... Weired ? By the way Midfield track is on the way back to GT6 after 15 yrs ? This track for me is only more fun for less PP cars to race each others. Lol.

Still tweaking the setup, moved the final drive to 3:72, added more to gears 3,4 and 5. Raised front ride height and softer front sway bar. Down to a best lap of 1:55.1, and best total time of 5:51.8...Getting close!

Keep topping out at 50,000,000 credits and buys cars to keep the flow coming in. Up to 220...lol
 
Met some guy doing 1:52.xx ! Scratching my head using DS3 . Lol. Even though seeing the replay, doesn't help. One thing I doesn't like is every replay we download from online races is jerking & not smooth at all. Is it the same from you guys or maybe just my wifi ?
 
Trying to do this race is like eating a very cheap box of chocolates. You do not know what you are going to get, but it is a guarantee that it will taste like crap!
I have tried to connect all day with no success. I also had problems yesterday but was finally able to get in a room and race. First race had 5 players and I started 10th! I won the race and was immediately demoted to second place behind a DNF player.

@steve nfs : Enjoyed racing with you a couple of days ago.
 
Wauw, I'm really happy that my simple question has led so many to better results and constructive discussion :)
Haven't had much time to play since, but I did manage a few 1.56's by making minor alterations to Aussies tune.. mostly fiddling with the gears to max the acceleration and fitting the max revs for the straights..
Have been pretty disappointed about the huge lags and getting disconnected in the middle of races when I finally had a little time to play, but it seems like I'm getting back on the track saturday :D

My conclusion is that I'm simply just rusty behind the wheel after so long away from racing ;)

haha... yes, this is almost exactly my strategy too.

Another tip for getting punted into the boxes at the chicane... once you're hit & propelled forward, don't try to steer left back onto the track to go around the chicane, just stay pointed forward and try to shove your way through the boxes. If you've just been hit, and do it that way, it doesn't seem to give you a penalty.

I've seen some drivers cutting that corner deeply without penalties after the boxes has been pushed away.. So I figured that I might try that as well.. just for **** and giggles.. and I got no shortcut penalty? I actually think some are aiming for the boxes on the first lap to gain a placement or two

Yeah, TC on 0 mostly, but depending on the car and/or the track I sometimes leave it at 1-3 :)

Yes, with the Megane, TC off is best. I use TC 1 too sometimes, otherwise, on very fast cars, depends...

And I agree, the connexion issues spoil the experience too often :banghead:

I'm happy if I manage to enter a room and run several races without being disconnected. Even happier if the other people happen to be gentle(wo)men :cheers:

Was this a single fast lap or was he able to do it on a consistent basis? My fastest lap is 1:52.760 but that was a one hit wonder. My fastest laps normally are in the mid 1:53 to 1:54 range.
My replays are smooth but I am hard wired.

Oh yeah I definitely think people do it on purpose. That's why in some rooms the boxes are knocked out on the first lap.
You will get a shortcut penalty if you take it a certain way though... If you go on the grass, for example.
 
I was racing someone for the lead last night and the LEADER hit the boxes to get them out of the way himself! lol

I take that route once it's cleared, when it is. You don't get a penalty as long as you stay off the grass with your outside tires. Basically where it is painted green is fine alng with a little grass.

Racing the Mini Cooper seasonal event is fun too, one the car first try...but I want to tune it! lol

Me too, nice playing with GT members as you. I mean if the replay from online room is smooth, but the recorded replay from QM is terribly jerking. The 1:52 as you mention from my view is not consistent. Even the racing is jerking on some part of the track with my wifi to enter this world QM especially 16 racers. Yesterday, after 2 hours playing got hang !

Have any of you had someone sit and wait for you after the first few turns and try to hit you while leading? I had it happen last night. I don't know if I hit this person at the first turn or when, but he spent three laps waiting for me as I led and tried to hit me each time I passed. I made him miss all three times, but it took my lead in the 16 car field down from 11 seconds after lap two to 5 because I had to "avoid" the car on the straight right after the dogleg before the last chicane.

I've never gotten that angry or taken the beatings that personally. The bangers hit everyone, not only me. Especially the first few turns.
For example a couple races before my 1st lap time was a 2:25.6, my second a 1:55.3, the fastest lap from 13th place...lol

This happened to me for about 20 races one time. The jerk kept trying to wreck the race leader (on that same straight) every lap.
I saw the same person doing it in another room and I left immediately.
