I enjoy the RE series & RE6 is a purchase for me, just not at launch, nor at full price. This is Capcom after all, I'll wait it out.

Ok, so my question is this: Which one of you guys have already prepared:
  • energy drinks
  • head set
  • dualshock / x360 pad fully charged
  • chips / snacks or any other kind of junk food to crunch

Because we are going to kill some zombies tonight :sly:

TBH this blockbuster Hollywood style of Resi seems to have mixed up the reviewers.

Don't think this is a purchase for me at this stage.
Funny thing but revelations on 3DS is the closest to the original series we have had for a long time.
Pretty good too with expected cheesy dialogue lol.

Heck even Zombie U looks like the spiritual successor to the original survival horror.

This may make for a decent coop campaign though.

My brother went to the midnight launch and played for a couple hours. Seems to be really enjoying the game. I will pick it up tonight after work and play a little. BUt I am saving my major RE6 gametime for Thursday after work. Thats when my brother and I will be able to play together. Hopefully its enjoyable but if its not too great then I can just trade it in when I get Halo 4 next month.

It's actually the first RE I'm not dieing to try. I wasnt really impress with the demo, it was too fast-paced for me. I'll still play the game tho. I just hope the story is good, which apparently isnt the case until you unlock the Ada Mission.

It's been a while since I read such a polarized reception from critics towards this game. Some say that as a whole, it's too much of a departure from the original games, whereas others are saying it's a great game in its own right. The scores I've seen so far are extremely varied as well.

I was never going to buy RE6 on release day either, and I won't for another month or 2. Some large purchases I've made recently is another reason for me to wait a bit before buying a copy, and that goes for a few other games out soon that I'm aiming to buy.

I still haven't played the demo yet, although I downloaded it last week.

I find this quote quite staggering if I'm honest.

From Eurogamer.

one of several criticisms being the game's length. Indeed, the game's director Eiichiro Sasaki has said he is "a little worried" some fans may not make it to the end.

"Yes, [I'm] just a little worried about that. But because of that we developed this new service that ties into Resident Evil 6 called RE.net. We hope this service will really motivate people to keep playing the game.

Wow, 4.5 from gamespot, and so many complaints about the gameplay ..

"The Good
Intriguing narrative structure
Great voice acting and action-packed cutscenes draw you into the story.
The Bad
Loads of bad, overlong quick-time events
Excruciating overemphasis on mediocre set piece events
Ruins the pace by constantly ripping control from you
Poorly executed scripted events lead to unavoidable deaths."

Quoted from the gamespot review linked above. I hope this is not totally true ..

Not sure you interpreted the critique quite right though. The problems seem not have all that much to do with not being faithful to early games. The problems have to to with (like Ridox wrote above using gamespot's point of view) poor control, bad camera, Loads of bad, overlong quick-time events, poorly executed scripted events lead to unavoidable deaths and that there is excruciating overemphasis on mediocre set piece events ruins the pace by constantly ripping control from you.

Quick review.

I started playing last night with the plan to only play about 20 minutes then put time into other games. I started with the Leon campaign and invited a friend to play with me. Welllllll we put 3 straight hours in last night. The co-op is very fun. I think the game is very enjoyable and I almost crapped myself several times. Cant wait to put some more time into this game.

The Leon campaign really does have that classic RE feel to it with modern upgrades in a good way. I like the ability to walk AND shoot at the same time. Controls are a huge improvement. As for the difficulty, some areas take a few retries or trial and error but thats ok with me. Thats how the original RE was too. So far its as fun as RE5 and a lot better than Racoon City. Overall I am truly enjoying this. Looking forward to finishing the Leon campaign and check out the othe 2 campaigns. 👍

Haven't heard anything bad about Leon's campaign thus far. It's the one I'm really looking forward to as it's comparable to the original survival horror theme from past Resi games. Jake's campaign is something I want to try out afterwards with its more hands-on approach which has interested me from the very beginning, but Chris' seems like the weakest from what I've read (not counting Ada's).

Still, I can't judge them until I try it.

Right way to play and enjoy Resident Evil 6 is in this order.

After prologue, stick to 1. Leon, finish he's campaign (5 chapters). 2. Then pick Jake Muller, finish he's campaign (5 chapters). And Then Pick 3. Chris, also finish he's campaign. 4. Ada Wong as last character.

And this is why.

Playing as Leon game has Horror characteristics, and it's slowly introduce you to game play. How to use weapons, knife, how to pick ammo and heath sprays and Exp points while running.

When you finish Leon's campaign you could play either as Chris or Jake. But if you choose Jake then game keep continue what you've learn with Leon and does not stop with suspense and horror feeling. Thats due do relentless run from Ustanak. You now know how to pick ammo and health sprays while being in non stop run. And more to this you will have to fight with many other monsters along your way.

When you done with Jake campaign, you are really ready for Chris total weapon mayhem usage, grenades throwing covering fire action against bigger tougher opponents.

Playing as Ada Wong after Chris is speed run, she is so fast so quick with knife and her kicks. It's much more fun to use knife than her weapons.

I started Leons campain yesterday and had a blast.

I don't care for reviews, if I would I would have missed some awesome games already

I agree. I am really glad I dont pay much attention to reviews. I always give every game a chance and so far RE6 is very fun. I plan to put a lot more time in tonight and over the weekend.

Not as fun as Uncharted actors voices. I wish to never see those Resident Evil faces again :)

This has been more fun than I expected. Can be frustrating at times with the QTE,s but overall it has been enjoyable. The co-op puzzle solving is great too. The game is also quite long. I still havent quite finished up Leons campaign yet. I think I am just now to chapter 5 in his campaign.

^It's Crapcom, what do we expect

CAMAROBOY69
I still havent quite finished up
I'm still on the last chapiter. How people are able to complete a chapiter in an hour is beyond me. I'm probably clocking in around 8-10 hours for leons part and that is 1/4 of the game

Such fun, awesome vibe in Leon's. Awesome.

^ I think I am around 12-14 hours total on Leons campaign. So if there are 3 or 4 total campaigns and if they are all around 12 hours a piece, thats almost 48 hours to finish all the campaigns. 👍 Just a guess. Not sure if the other campaigns are this long. But Leons is much longer than I ever expected. Interrested in seeing the other 3 total campaigns eventually. Its just going to be such a busy month with all the other games that are coming out. One thing is for sure, I need to get this beat before Halo 4 comes out next month.

The co-op puzzle solving is great too.

I feel bad for the person playing Helena with me just now. :guilty: Took me a couple of minutes to figure out what I had to do, and the guy was just waiting there, lol. Even hinting on the objective, while I ran around like a fool looking for the door switch.

First two chapters in, it isn't as bad as critics said it was. It's awesome! :dopey:

Completed Leon's campaign the other day, it's been a long time since I played a Resident Evil game (Code Veronica X). Where has the horror gone from the game? Don't get me wrong it's still a good game but the memories from the original are still there, zombies and other creatures grabbing hold of you through the windows as you were going through the quiet hallways. There are other instances like this in previous games that would make you jump when encountering it for the first time, but I didn't have any experiences like this during this campaign.

Hopefully in the other campaigns there are some parts like this (better than going to the movies for the horror flicks) :sly:

Still enjoyed the campaign but even little things like creaking doors or thunder and lightning that made the first game so good are missing, capcom must of decided on making the game accessible for a younger audience even though the game is rated 18 if you guys get what I mean.

Moving on to Jakes campaign tomorrow, did the first 5 mins of it the other day but had to go out, looks more exciting than Leon's so far. From what I've seen
it looks to be more hands on than Leon's.

I have 61 hours of play and Horror is on PROfessional difficulty, game is beyond fantastic!!!

Free Resident Evil 6 DLC Confirmed

Nowgamer
No Hope and Ada Wong co-op partner to be added as part of title update.

Capcom has confirmed the first batch of DLC for Resident Evil 6 will be free.

Arriving via title update, the first DLC will be No Hope - the toughest difficulty mode for Resident Evil 6 when made available - and the addition of a co-op partner for Ada Wong's campaign.

Ada Wong's campaign will also be made available for all players from the start, rather than having to complete Leon, Chris and Jake's campaigns first.

Capcom also clarified its DLC stance, stating that on-disc DLC will be made free to all players while content that isn't on the Resi 6 disc will be paid DLC.

So, a friend of mine played this for a few hours this week. His opinion was that while it was better than Resi 5 and couldn't match Resi 4 (as many have already stated), it wasn't bad overall. He also said it wasn't very entertaining, the story was "silly" and there were far too many quick time events (I hated the few that were in 4, so I can only imagine I'd hate them even more in 6).

Still not certain about getting it either. I have a few other games that I want more than this and a limited budget too. I was exited about 6 when I first heard about it, but recently I've lost most of that initial interest. Hopefully I feel an urge to get a copy next month.

At first i finished all story all alone in off line but now playing with people online is huge fun.

Sometime when story get cross line with other characters you have 4 players fighting one boss. That's awesome especially on highest difficulty and helps a lot.

And if you register at https://www.residentevil.net/ and log in every day you'll receive points, for which you can exchange for extra weapons and some clothes.

So yeah, I finally got around to trying the demo earlier on. Surprisingly, I think even my friend liked it more than I did to be honest. I played as Leon and Jake, and while the former was decent in places, it still wasn't exciting. Controls were sound I guess, but seriously, if the demo has that many QTEs, then I'm going to have a rough time with the full game. Jake's stint looked promising at first, but it was even more of a bitch to play in my opinion. Not even going to bother trying Chris' as it's widely thought to be the weakest of the 3, plus I've already seen enough of it while watching a friend play. Some of the online modes still look alright, but not worth getting the game for. That's just me though.

At least I know I won't be wasting what little money I have on this game. It's a shame really, but at least some of you guys are finding it enjoyable. I guess this is one of those Marmite titles that you either love or hate.

Not sure you interpreted the critique quite right though. The problems seem not have all that much to do with not being faithful to early games.

Sorry, I missed your post completely until now, and I've seen a fair few that do criticise the fact that it's a departure from the older RE games. It was the same with RE5 to some extent, but most of the critics and fans compared it to RE4, and that it certainly wasn't an improvement over its predecessor.

The controls I felt were poor at first, but after playing for a while I did find them somewhat easier to use ("decent enough" is as high as my praise will go though). The camera is a real PITA and it's one of the main reasons why I thought it was a bitch to play during certain scenarios, especially combat.

The less said about QTE and set pieces, the better.
