Reverse Game Confirmed or highly probably in GT5 (or maybe not)!

They will call it Sands Of Time.

It will be listed as a new feature never before seen in a racing sim... wormholes through time.

GT: The real timespace warping simulator!

Honestly though... I think it's shaping up to be a lot of "copied forza!" being called when GT comes out... especially if livery editors are in.

Copied GRID more like

As long as with all other driving aids, you can turn it off, this will not be a problem for me.

I'd like my sense of achievement to remain as high as possible

Maybe... but in trade to that GT maybe will have other new features like a Track Editor. But I guess people are saying that Forza copied GT too with the Photomode, and basically the concept of the career game. It's like F1; everybody is copying eachother. :P

^ oh wait Grid was the first one who did rewind...

Is GT5 more for the advanced player or can beginners play too?

We do have a setting for people who are just learning how to drive. The other setting is very strict, where even an F1 driver can learn new tricks from the system. However, a lot of driver's aids will be included, such as driving lines, ABS, automatic braking, you can reverse your game and record your laps and share them with others. All those things. They were not that difficult to implement.

Auto braking and rewind? I must say I'm shocked. Never thought GT would go down that road. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just a road I never thought Kazunori cared about.

I sure hope they do something to make it less cheesy. Well let's see what happens.

EDIT: Still think it doesn't fit the game anyway.

I don't understand Polyphony Digital's strategy with this game. At Tokyo Game Show, which was supposed to be GT5's big reveal, all we get is info we already know and the major advancement of the photo mode. Everyone is disappointed.

However, after that we see interviews from small osbcure places mentioning features such as night racing, dynamic weather, track editors, rewind etc. Basically a bunch of stuff that would give any GT fan or videogames journalist a gigantic boner from how awesome it is, yet PD hides it all away.

It's just crazy.

Exactly... the whole copied thing gets ridiculous after a while... and the alternative to copying someone else is we get only one game with a great feature that everyone else then ignores to avoid being a copy cat? Sounds like consumer looses to me there... copying is good if you ask me :)

You aren't alone... there were people claiming an almost psychically intimate relationship with Kaz's thoughts that KNEW we weren't going to see features like this in GT... GT isn't going to work on appealing to casuals, GT is only for hardcore, things like this will never be in GT, KY is not that kind of person and wouldn't do that... Even better is the ones who voted "won't buy GT if rewind is in it"... I wonder if they will stick to that...

So what was all that crap some of you were spewing about knowing Kaz., and saying GT is too good to take on such features?

I hope you aren't one of the people who complained about Rewind on the Rewind thread.

Anyways, I'm starting to believe that guy mistook GT5 with Forza 3. Because it is too much of a coincidence.

EDIT: McLaren. 👍 👍 👍 I would like to see where is Earth at the moment.

It would be hilarious if somehow KY started talking about GT but thinking about Forza and so sold all of Forza's sale points... I almost think if I read it one more time there will be a line talking about tire deformation in there...

It think it's a shock to everyone actually. Devedander, the biggest rewind preacher, also thought rewind would not be in the game regardless. If I remember well.

Did you thought it would be in?

No I honestly didn't think it would be in GT5... this totally catches me by surprise too... right along with autobraking... heck even the move to put damage on all cars caught me by surprise!

The difference was I never made claims that that I know KY and I know what he thinks and I know GT and where it will go and I never claimed a GTP poll was a dfinitive source for what would happen in GT5 and I never said that things to make GT5 more accessible to casuals (ie a bigger market) would be left out to cater to the hardcores need to feel pure... I didn't think it would be in GT5 but I never tried to give flawed arguments or opinion stated as fact to prove it wouldn't be.

Basically I didn't think it would be in, but a lot of people were positive it wouldn't and listed assumptions as facts for why it wouldn't be... well it's really looking like all those who were called out for using (often flawed) opinion, speculation and rants as fact were indeed way out there.

Personally, no. But not because "it would be stupid". I thought it wouldn't be in due to Kaz placing his personal tastes ahead of the other things folks would like to see.

If the article is true to the point, it says a lot more for the other things people have been wanting.

Yeah, it must have been a shock for him (I was impressed, but not shocked). The difference between me (and possibly Devedander) to other members in this subforum, is that we are "shocked" in a good way, unlike the rest of the members who didn't wanted the feature at all.

Anyways, it's just a feature guys. It doesn't hurt the game at all.

Even if the article is telling the truth (the interview happened), we still have to know what KY meant by "you can reverse your game". That sounds like Rewind to me alright, but that doesn't mean it is. If the article would have said "you can rewind your game", then I would be 100% sure he meant Rewind.

We will have to wait to know, though.

He sad that we will have a lot of Le mans prototypes in GT5!!!! Can wait to drive Toyota GT one... Now I want to hear that McLaren F1 LM is confirmed for GT5!!!!👍

Knowing KY, I'll believe it when I see it. ;) As long as you can turn it off, I guess I'm fine with it; after all I don't use any of the other assists' either.

I find it really funny when people say they know KY, what do you sit down and have a beer with him on a regular bases? You people make me laugh.

Since they ware in gt4/psp they are in gt5.

As for the rewind... no i don't think so...

You may have said that unintentionally, but people, please remember there's no turn off to the feature, at least in Forza 3 (I have no idea of GRID). You can choose not to use it. Which in my opinion, it's better. You never know when you may change your mind.

I was joking. ;) What I meant was that he says a lot of things, so you should take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Actually I hope they implement the rewind system like it was in GRID, where you had a certain number of rewinds based on your selected difficulty level. You could also turn off the rewind completely in that game if you wanted.

Guys.. What he meant, is

you can reverse your game and record your laps and share them with others.

reverse by watching replays, your own replays, then you can record them for YOUTUBE for others to see. the translator guy was not 100% down with American spoken language.

Have you played Forza Motorsport 3?

I was watching the guys at our company trying it out in the office. I tried it a little bit. It's very similar in a lot of aspects to Gran Turismo. Some base components of the game are very different from Gran Turismo. It's a little bit different from what a simulator is. You can feel it when you drive it.

Kaz: So whats Forza 3 like then?
Coder: Looks like ass, plays ok though.
Kaz: Any features worth looking at in there?
Coder: Auto brakes and rewind.
Kaz: GTFO my office!
Coder: Wait, do you know one eyed, one armed Joe from the canteen?
Kaz: The one who's a little 'slow'?
Coder: Yeah! He just won his 1st race
Kaz: You're sh**ting me?

I think you can turn it off. You can configure your own button schemes inGT5P so why not in GT5?

I think someone put up a HUGE post (even by my standards) detailing all this including a picture of KY and saying "Look at that face, that is not the face of someone who would put rewind in a game" (or something along those lines)... others who said things like "I know it won't be in there because I dont' want it in there and KY and I think the same"... takes all kinds :)

After being deceived by the GT2 cover, I agree. :D

In your opinion. Don't come in here pushing that you know what he meant. I see "automatic braking" in that interview as well. It doesn't get much more simple than that to know he's referring to a feature that brakes for you.
