We tried to get some races going in the rFactor(1) thread, but no one would commit. I am down for one, even if it is random races in different mods amongst friends. I can only commit to weekends though, travel all week :/

I suspect PD crawls the internet to read the occasional forum post.
So? Is this a good way to interact with your customers?
Like with any company, you don't want some random employee popping up on the forums representing the company and yelling at fans.
In fact ISI dn't have some random employees, they have spokesmen. And they are not yelling at all, it's clear you don't know anything about them. They are not like the average PR marketing idiot, they know what they are talking about and most of times they can give useful answers on the matter.
Plus, by not having a central fan site, you give other sites the opportunity to shine equally.
Fan sites are just fan sites. They should focus on news, organizing online events, appreciation threads and stuff like this. They can't sobstitute a certain company in any way. Oh and it's not like if ISI has their own feedback forum, Other rF forums don't even exist. There are lots of them: rFactorcentral for instance, and almost every sim racing site has an rFactor section.

Sure, extreme fans might attempt to poke holes in your logic but that is much more preferable to just posting your idea in some blog or something and not having anyone at all give you feedback.
From now I don't even bother wasting time in GT5 section anymore, even if someone agree with me nothing can change, it's really just a waste of time. And time is money.
I am not sure why people want to talk to PD? What exactly would you tell them?
That's the kind of ansewer that simply prove my whole point. I don't need to give you any reason. The answer is because I want to. We live in the social era and other companies like ISI, SimBin and SMS offer this service so I wanna be able to talk with someone at PD as well, period.
They would probably get flooded with thousands of conflicting ideas.
People are just people, they are not developers, I don't need to persuade people about anything, I just need to talk wih someone from the Staff, then they can judge by themselves if something may work or not. Tim Wheatly and Max Angelo use their own logic, they don't need rfactor's fanboys opinion at all.
Furthermore if you wanna keeps things organized you don't have to give people the right to open therads everywhere in the forum. You just let them open somewhere in certain sections and this is what ISI and other companies are doing.

Yeah, I think that if we could've gotten a server up It would've been a different story...
I've registered to run with this guys on Thursdays, you guys should give it a shot! Pretty nice group to run with, I do an iRacing SR8 league with them too!

Notice how the head(camera) moves arround on the cockpit.

Well, yes and no.

Unlike the headache/nausea inducing GT5 effect, the horizon is mostly steady, as our head/eyes adjust in real life, the car moves around you. This is what Kaz misses in GT5 where the effect is that of a camera mounted on a hard surface of the car, transmitting the road/car vibration to the image as a whole.

Yeah I would do rfactor w/GTP again.... I just keep forgetting to check this thread.

This time I know a lot of these tracks much better :D

Sometimes I question Kaz's motorsports experience...

How is the AI in rFactor?

It varies from mod to mod, tracks affect it as well. The better mods/tracks give you extremely competitive racing, you can adjust the AI strength and aggression.

Edit: This may give you and idea, though the AI isn't always this dirty hehe

For the Enduracers Mod is plain Psychopathic alien killer fast, the best thing is that you can adjust the level of agression and how fast they are. GT5's AI seems like a bunch of lost boyscouts crying for momy when compared to this crazy AI guys!

Do you all think it would be worth it to get rFactor, or should I hold out for rF2?

Hum...There is so much excellent quality content for rFactor(1), I don't see how ~$20 isn't worth it. If you do get it, just focus on the very best mods and tracks, you will enjoy it.

rFactor 2 Open Beta will be out in mid/late January,I'm not holding my breath yet, I personally may need a new PC for it.

Definitely agreed! I'm hoping my PC will be able to handle rFactor 2!

I will need a PC, but can't buy one. I'll have to use my dads I think. But I always have trouble downloading the mods!

Yeah it can be adjusted in the options or definitely be able to edit it otherwise using notepad or something. It is supposed to be mod-able. It looks cool but exaggerated in that video

G Force Simulation? On Rf2?

I mean the camera shake in that open wheel video.

So I went in search for the Spec requirements and found these:

virtuar.net
MINIMUM:

CPU: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 or 2.4 GHz AMD Athlon x2
Memory: 2 GB
Video Card: nVidia 8600 GT or ATI/AMD 3850
Video Memory: 256MB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
DirectX: 9.0c
Storage: 4 GB

RECOMMENDED:

CPU: 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or 3.0 GHz AMD Athlon II x2 or better
Memory: 4 GB+
Video Card: nVidia 250 GTS or ATI/AMD 4870 or better
Video Memory: 512MB+
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista 64bit, Windows 7 64bit
Storage: 4 GB+

Note: 2008 C++ Runtimes SP1 required (included with installer).

And here's my computer's specs (That I found anyway):

OS: Windows 7
CPU: Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4500 @ 2.30GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB
Video Card: Intel GMA 4500M

I'm curious to if that would be sufficient.

Very unlikely and if it does it will most likely will not be an enjoyable experience and by the way you put your wifi card down as your video card ;). I think your video card is an: Intel X4500M HD .

:dunce: I officially don't know what I'm talking about. Of course it won't matter much if what you say is true as it'll be something else I won't be able to enjoy on this computer:indiff:

Your processor is maybe on the borderline of being playable. It is your onboard Intel graphics that will really kill any chance of getting a good enough frame rate if the minimum requirements are accurate.

If you pick up a Ivy bridge laptop in the future then you should be able to play it pretty well even with onboard graphics and it should not cost much plus you will have great battery life and a really fast laptop.

Build (or buy if you absolutely must) a proper gaming PC, RACECAR. You'll be glad you did.
