Formula cars are small. The thing is that prototypes are stupidly small, I mean to the "the cockpit bubble isn't all that much bigger than the driver's helmet" extent. Watch any real race with them and GT3 cars side by side, you know a Ferrari or Porsche is little more than waist high but they look massive next to the prototypes.

That's a very good point. Didn't think of it that way.

I managed to do it before seeing your response. I thought the fuel would last so I went all out from the start, using the overtake on the straights and that was a mistake 😂. At the end of laps 8 I had 0.9 left in the tank, so I had to go FM6 and short shift to prevent having to pit. Finished the race with 0.1 left in the tank and 11 seconds to P2. Definitely a fun experiment.

Yeah, short shifting from lap 1 is a must. You don't even have to use the fuel map, just remember doing that and keep off the Overtake button. The Super Formula makes up so much time through the middle sector with its downforce. Remember that this is the same car that you easily take the Chicane of Death at Dragon Trail flat out.

Also, mediums will work just fine.

I'm late to the party this week, reason being things went a bit different :) and took some extra time.

Races 1 - 4 were quite standard.
Gallo and Beauvois did what they always do but it didn't bother me as I had picked ( partly more than ) competitive cars and everything was done in one sweep : 4 victories including 4 bonuses.
Used my 475 PP engine-swapped Skyline '70 at Tsukuba, a 370 PP Jimny that destroyed the competition and last week's Mangusta twice at Suzuka and Spa. Everything had been business as usual so far. Positive : I found some extra fun at Spa and repeated that race a couple times for my daily marathons.

Then things changed with the GV event. Don't get me wrong, I had won that race too at my first attempt using my trusty 980 hp LM55 VGT Gr.1 on RM tires. An easy win, even Wong who didn't pit could not touch me. Then I read @Fuzzi0n 's post running the race without the big turbo and decided to try that : What I found was ... that I was too slow ! Couldn't win, couldn't reach the posted lap times - nearly 2 seconds missing on average and that triggered my ambition.
Established my personal practice camp then  running the track sector by sector, comparing sector times, trying different lines, different brake- and turn in-points, different gearing etc etc ... something I hadn't done in a long long time. And it finally paid, not just for the tons of fun I had. I still can't be consistently quick but I'm really ok with what I've achieved.
