Looks nearly identical to mine, minus the case and my motherboard is going to be a UD3. That should kick most games up to wonderful FPS, and should be more future proof.

I would like some advice guys, this will be my first gaming PC build. Here is what I'm looking at:
That's a great gaming build and is in fact a typical high-end gaming build these days - 2500k, 6950/70 or GTX570/580 and 8 gigs 'o ram :)

Jav
That looks like a real solid rig ther Voltaic! I'm looking at some upgrades in the future too, motherboard and maybe another 5770 card to use crossfire. I think those are the weakspots on mine ATM...
lol. Trust me, you don't want to do that. Ever. Only reason I haven't got rid of my 5770s is because I have other priorities for my savings and as such I can't afford any big purchases like a new, faster graphics card...

Thank's for the advice, did you ever get it to work with rFactor2?
I'll be looking for something better in the future!

Nope. I think it's an issue on ISI's end as there are a lot of people on their forum with AMD cards having performance woes. It runs fine with one card disabled, but 5770s are pretty limp now so it's either everything looks like ass or 20fps. :grumpy:

Lol! Hope it gets resolved! On paper the card should do fine but in reality we are getting a different story...

I ended up buying a UD3 also, cheaper and was a combo discount with the 2600k at Microcenter. Ordered the video card and Win7 from Amazon. I also got an SSD120 a couple of weeks ago. The rest semi-built next to me :)

I'm hoping to have it running this weekend, save some defective parts, or screw ups on my part :nervous:. Thanks for the feedback, I feel better now 👍

PS; Here is the link that got me started, i7-2600k for $230 at MC, in addition to the $50 combo MB/CPU discount. You don't have to accept sharing your info, it may take ~1 hour to get the email.

This is a good example of how our heads keep our eyes steady, unlike what "some" game developers would have us go through because it's cool...for 5 seconds.

I still can't believe how some people will swear that the whole shake stuff is so realistic! I bet 90% of them have never even driven a real car in their life...

Indeed, and that (video above) is still looking through a camera.

Say Jav, or anyone else with awesome knowledge, is there a guide for n00bs like me on how to build a PeeCee? I have almost the entire thing put together, except the cables. There is no indication of +/- on any of them, the motherboard manual says to be careful. I am also having trouble with the fan connections, 4 of them all 3-pin, but the motherboard has x3-3 pin and x1-4 pin.

Sorry, this is kind of off topic, yet again it's kind of not since in here we are all geeks by definition hehe.

Fan connectors only connect in one direction so you can't put them in backwards. Fan for your CPU cooler connects to the header marked cpu_fan, fans for your case connect to cha_fan (or a similar label, my motherboard uses cha_fan) and a 3-pin fan can be used in a 4-pin connector, just connect the plug to the three left-most pins, eg [ooo]o

Got it, thank you!

Any tips on the other front panel cables? I saw a video that states most should be connected with the label (i.e. Power, HD Light, etc)facing the motherboard.

Cheers.

Front panel leads should have +/- markings on the end and your motherboard manual should outline which pins are for the positive leads and which are for the negative ones :)

The motherboard clearly labels them, as does the manual. The case cables have nothing at the end other than an elongated triangle over one of the 2 females. Surprising from this Corsair case.

Oh, I see. The case instructions doesn't indicate if that triangle means positive or negative?

The case instructions amount to a blow up of the main panels, filters, knobs, etc.. Nothing on the cables, all I can find anywhere is regarding the fan cables :ouch:

I will use a magnifying glass, if not a microscope, when I get back and make sure they are labeled.

PS; it turns out, after calling Microcenter's tech support, the only way of knowing is by identifying the side with an elongated "triangle", which is the "+". Nowhere on Corsair's website do they tell you. Otherwise they make awesome products.

Little update of the mod, if you have installed before please uninstall and overwrite the one in packages folder.

My new PC build has been finished and is working great...except, my rF1 and rF2 do not recognize my G25. Oddly, I had this issue with netKar Pro on my old PC, never could fix it. Now, netKar and CARS work fine, rF1/2 do not. I'm going nuts!

It's most likely a problem of how your USB devices are assigned their device number. Try disconnecting all USB devices except for the wheel and your mouse and see if that helps.

I have to actually do this quite often since I play flight/combat sims as well as racing sims. If I have my Saitek X52 Pro stuff connected, it screws up my controller assignments in my racing sims and games that have a limited amount of slots like rFactor and rF2 won't read my wheel/pedals/etc.

Well, all I have is the G25 and the wireless keyboard sensor on the USBs. I have tried disconnecting and moving them around, no good. This is only an issue with rF1 and rF2, netKar and CARS are fine.

One other thing, I have an SSD as my boot drive, all the SIMs are installed in a secondary drive. I'm not sure if this can affect it, I would think not.

Thanks for the feedback.

PS; I stand corrected, now the wheel and paddles work, the pedals don't.

Make sure you've mapped the controls, if you don't have the bindings right stuff won't work. There's a preset G25/G27 profile in rF2 you can use 👍

OK, one down, one to go. It was a combination of factors, the last being your suggestion on re-mapping the pedals, it worked thanks!

Now on to rF2 and solving an issue with my new build where after shutdown the PC will not restart unless I wait ~10 minutes. I suspect the power supply...otherwise it runs awesome!

PS; OK, rF2 is fixed! Thanks for the help guys.

Glad to see you got it to work!
Anyone download Putnam Park?

I got the SIMs to work, then the power supply went out (I hope that's all it is) as I was racing with you guys last night. Dropped it off at the shop, hope all will be good by Friday, Meanwhile, have fun!

Have there been any updates to this? I've been playing it now for quite a few weeks it seems, and the updater has not had a single update found yet, saying that the simulation is up to date. Seems strange for a beta build to go on for so long without a single update or change.

Also, are there any mods available for this yet? I've had a look around in the usual places and can't find anything, other than the expected work in progress threads on a few forums.

Hi guys, I'm in need of some advices. I've 3 months free to play games and sim racing is something that I definitely would want to do. Problem being I do not know as for whether it'd be worth it currently to pay the full price for the rFactor2 beta, and would it be too troublesome to set it up. Also, if it's possible to compare, i'd like to know how does the rFactor2 physics and ffb feel in comparison to iRacing and GT5?
