"Endurance, Naked, Cafe Racer, Superbike, Sportbike, Supermoto and Maxi Enduro"

I wonder if Maxi Enduro means we'll get some dirt tracks to play with adventure bikes in, or if they do what I expect them to do, and just include the bikes but with nowhere to actually use them but on race tracks.

The Ducati SuperSport is too new to have been in a game before, and it wasn't added as DLC. I'd probably only consider pre-ordering for the NR, as it'll be expensive in the game.

I spotted this lovely shot on the website a while back:

I think the modeling has come on another level.

The photogrammetry approach to environment modeling is finally spreading to other budgets, which is excellent news. This game should look very tidy indeed, as long as all the art and tech come together as a well crafted whole.

New AI is promising; new physics? Well, we shall have to see!

I had to look up "Maxi Enduro"; Adventure Bikes are big business, so it makes sense to include them. There's no mention of dirt tracks on the website, but we had mixed surfaces on Supermoto circuits in Ride 2.

It looks like we'll finally be able to remove pillion pegs :D

Why is it that every person lucky enough to play a preview of racing games can never avoid crashing a thousand times? It's like the person playing the preview above has never held a controller before.

Otherwise the game certainly looks pretty, the sounds are a little underwhelming so far though.

The visuals are great; Macau at night in the rain is very impressive!

The sound is a mixed bag. I like the fact you can hear the bikes in front of you clearly, but the mixing and environment effects are lacking: bridges are a little heavy handed, no wind noise etc. The fact that a bike behind you can't be heard in the reverb is a big miss. Also, that 500 cc Honda GP bike probably shouldn't sound like a two stroke given Honda was mainly there to prove its four strokes were superior... Still time to polish, perhaps!

Some interesting bikes featured, nice to see Benelli in the game (a marque I have a strange fascination for). The KTM with the Starlane clocks caught my eye as well; is that a bespoke model (a "racing" version) or representative of the level of customisation on offer?

It does look very good. A very far cry from my experience with Ride on the XB360 -- and I don't mean that in terms of just graphics fidelity, but in terms of the polish and care that seems to have been sunk into this game, to an extent that I did not see in videos of Ride 2, either. :)

I must say that RIDE3 is looking eally impressive so far.

I bought RIDE2 in a sale but just couldn't bother to get past the first two races. An absolute bore fest and really hard on the eyes graphics wise - headache inducing, if that makes sense.

Seems I was better off skipping that one, then. I held onto hope that this could turn into a successful franchise, but didn't quite feel it was worth it to me to help support the second title.

It's great that Milestone has decided to carry on with it; they are certainly an underdog to root for in the racing genre. I'm really looking forward to this one. :)

(Maybe Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo 2 can be next!)

It's looking really promising.

I just reinstalled Ride 2 (again) and did a quick race on Nordschleife. It's actually a better game than I remember it being (lacking the immense sense of speed of TT Isle of Man though) - I never got very far at all in the career mode when I originally bought it.

I was a fan of Milestone's early games, like the Screamer series and also Superbike 2000 & 2001 in particular. But they lost their way with cynical annual rehashes and I was keen to see what they could do once they decided to self-publish.

There's still a bit of annual rehashing going on, but there has been a promising change of direction for the studio to explore more niche ideas and start to bring the quality back up, so I'm very pleased for them!

Of their recent work, only the RIDE and MX games interested me, though, and I didn't buy them for the express reason of "supporting" them (the rehashing is probably deliberate to keep cash coming in).

RIDE 2 was overall a solid improvement, mainly let down by the progression system killing any enthusiasm. I'm not convinced by the magazines / "volumes" setup this time, but will have to see it in practice - for me, it's all about the core interactions: the handling / immersion and the menus, so it won't be a huge let down either way.

Im not thrilled. They need different game modes and bike customization. Still only caters to a certain sect of fans and riders

There are a few 300 cc bikes now, probably as a result of the SS300 class in Superbike racing. Great stuff.

There are a few bikes missing from Ride 2, and still a few missing from the first game. Weird that the list is in order of manufacturer, except for a random blob at the end. I wonder if that's some kind of internal dev distinction, since the bikes seem to be approximately listed by "PP", as in Ride 2's menus.

EDIT: it looks like racing classes grouped together, and some models say "racing modify" - some that don't are models from previous games so these might be both base models as well as having a race modify variant, as it was in Ride 2.

Buuut, we are expecting DLC...
