Thats quite good, price for PS4, if demos still available, try that first:)

Hi John, yeah I played the demo for a while when it first came out... Just the bugs that put me off, but more the fact that the dev does not appear to be giving this game the support it deserves, guess they are now tied up with the next MotoGP title re-hash!

Don't get me wrong I love MotoGP, but games like that (F1, FIFA, etc.) always make me feel like I'm being screwed over, surely they could build a solid game and then update it with DLC or patches to keep up with the current seasons (clearly this would be no good for offline people), so when something different comes along with a bag full of potential, and no real competition it becomes a real shame that the debs appear to just forget about it. :(

But back to topic, if anyone has any comments on Ride, eg are you still playing, does it hold your attention or is it too much of a grind?

To end on a brighter note, at least Kaz has not completely nailed down the coffin lid of a potential return to Tourist Trophy!
We can but hope ;)

Bought the game for PC and at first I was really in to it but I'd never played MotoGP or Tourist Trophy before so can't compare and the bikes were a new experience for me. I got to 42 hours played and haven't touched it since 24th April, I felt the career mode was a bit of a grind and most of the races were far too short to really enjoy, the endurance races for example are 8(?) laps I think and standard races 3 laps. I don't recall coming across any game-breaking bugs which haven't since been fixed, it's just smaller things left from what I can remember.

I'm glad I paid only £16 and not full price for it on PC as the game just isn't for me but I'm glad I gave it a chance as my first bike game. On the other hand one of my friends has well over 100 hours and is still enjoying the game although he's been playing bike games for quite a while now.

I'm a bit miffed there's been no support for RIDE from Milestone. First on the list (for me anyway) would be a 30fps lock

The fps on RIDE is really terrible. Not anywhere near 60 to start with, and up and down like a fiddlers elbow

There are plenty of other little niggles too. Missing handlebars on some bikes, stuff like that

I think it might be a Milestone thing to not bother once the game is released though. Wasn't there meant to be DLC coming to the game after release (and no, the Yamaha's don't count :P)?

A question for those of you that have the full game. Is there a way to turn off the controller vibration? There is no way to in the demo.

There was a season pass for RIDE?
There was supposed to be one, but I guess it never happened - besides the pre-order DLCs.

Not surprised though, considering how poorly they've managed this game so far. The communication and the initial slow release of the - what I'd like the refer to as - 'one and done' patch has left a sour taste in my mouth. I assumed that post-release support would've at least been better for their own new IP.

*shrugs*

Eurgh, apparently the other 2 DLC packs are made up of 2015 models. How very banal. What a rip if you preordered, too. You get the other pack and the one you got anyway.

Sure were the ugly red headed stepchild and no one cares enough about us to bother with fixing the game, but I'm sure they'll make it up next year when they take your $60 for the next installment! They'll promise that it'll be better.

^ Which will have the exact same problems, but with slightly improved graphics, and with the DLC that was meant to come out for the first one.

Absolutely! But just spend another $60 we promise things will be different this time. Oh by the way why don't you spend another $60 on our motogp title also, it will be sub par as well. But thanks for the $$ we'll try harder next time...... Well maybe.

Not sure anyone cares anymore, but as we approach the late-June USA release date, Amazon now lists it as August 31.

Got this during the Steam Sale for $20 and I've yet to have a problem with it, runs perfectly fine with no fps drops. Are the bugs mainly on PS4/XBONE or have I just been lucky? What bugs should I be looking out for?

Unless it releases here for a bargain price I doubt it will be a big seller. It is a niche game anyway and with their lack of interest in it I don't see why anyone else should be interested in it.

Bits of bikes missing or with no textures(like a black whole in the shape of a wheel or whatever part), oil change doesn't work so the light will stay on permanently and unless you change oil after every race it will go back to the power before you changed the oil. Frame drops at certain parts of certain tracks, parts of bikes that don't fit properly like when you change to custom wheels the wheel is too small or for the tyre so there's a gap and some bikes seem to be showing at the wrong detail level and look a bit jagged or boxy compared to the others('95 Honda Fireblade)

Just riding my invisible motorbike...

My only real wishes for this is a locked 30fps to stop the FR going all over the place and a controller sensitivity calibrator. My riding is so jerky because the initial movement on the XBO is quite pronounced.

In the absence of anything else yes, those two you mention are essential imo 👍

Oh yeah, and all the missing bike parts should be sorted. We can but dream, eh? :D

You couldn't really play it with a wheel, as you need to control both the bikes change of direction, and the attitude of the rider at the same time.
It's console/pc control only really.
I'm sure you could get it to work with a wheel, but you would be at a massive disadvantage.
It would be a lot more fun to learn to play with a controller, and have it setup the way you wanted, which is perfectly possible in RIDE.

And anyway, motorbikes just don't translate to a steering wheel.
For example, the ducatis with a lot of power in the game, tend to wheelie through first, second and even third gear out of most turns.
How would you push the front of the bike back down with a steering wheel?

:irked:👍

I'm not really a big bike guy, but I did like Tourist Trophy. I'm probably not going to be too interested in all the nuances of riding a motorcycle, so I'd probably just turn a bunch of the assists on so I wouldn't have to worry about things like wheelies, tucking, or separate front and rear brakes. I'll probably get it when it goes on sale, and I'll see if it's more fun with a pad or wheel.

Well I got this recently, and it's definitely a mixed bag.

Just working my way through the naked stuff at the moment in the "World Tour Mode", i.e. not very far, but I have sampled most of the modes and the bike "types" already. I quite like the way that (so far) the events are structured to allow you to sample the variety of bikes available for each category. If you like bikes, and like "customising" (as limited as it is: sure, remove the number plate, mirrors and indicators, but leave the pillion pegs...), then it's fun enough just digging through the dealership.

Most of the bikes I've tried have some kind of individual character to the way they ride, but what really colours the play feel is the way the controls are set up. And I have to say, they are extremely numb feeling. Erratic steering will forever spoil your lines, because it just doesn't feel right (as compared with TT which, despite its dodgy physics, did feel right). It just makes all bikes have a broadly similar interactive feel to them as a result, although the more, er, ballistic bikes are a hoot regardless.

The physics themselves seem robust and comprehensive enough (mainly gleaned from watching replays!), but the controls (and the AI rider, e.g. steering input) hide too much of it, in my opinion. I've been playing on Pro with all assists off except auto-tuck (used to give me cramp holding that button in TT). No clutch control for rev matching without a slipper, and weirdly slow gear changes even with a quickshifter installed on the bikes (and the throttle cut animation plays regardless). I've also had to play on the easiest AI setting (to get moneys for bikeses), because I couldn't get to grips with the controls; getting there slowly, though. The AI is, so far, the usual rolling road block / steamroller affair (might just be my riding...), and it tends to be a case of fastest bike wins.

The bugs are interesting. Nothing game breaking yet, but silly things like wrong bump maps and other texture / model issues, wrong garage icons for owned bikes and weird animations do take the shine off the experience. I did notice something weird with the oil changes; will have to double check what is going on there if the bug mentioned earlier isn't fixed.

The sound is horrendous: low quality, short, clearly looping samples that barely make a passable representation of the bike they are affixed to and have limited-to-no expression / variation with the throttle etc. In-race, other bikes can sometimes drown yours out, distractingly pop in and out of playback etc., so the sound engine is poorly set up, too. Once my own bike went silent (F800R, so no great loss :P). Replays are lack-lustre, sound-wise; for example not all cameras on any given track are set up for Doppler, and the reverb and general mixing are basic. The menu music is banal, sequencer-fiddling rubbish; not heard the in-race music.

Content wise, I like the small(ish) but varied range of tracks, with some nice "arcade style" countryside and city locations (although they're all very wide - must be the controls...) as well as real circuits. There are a few (many, by TT standards) "missing" bikes; there's nothing of any real vintage, for instance, but that's perhaps to be expected. It does a reasonably good job of representing the modern, sporty side of things (no tourers, though).

So, in short, get it if you like looking at pretty bikes (or just like bikes full-stop), don't mind taking the time to explore the different categories in many spread out, short races, can handle a few bugs, the low overall polish plus the awful sound and aren't bothered by antiseptic controls obscuring what might be decent physics. Oh, and if you can find it for half price or better.

I really, really want a TT2 now. :D

At first it didn't bother me too much, but I'm really missing the two strokes that are so fun in TT and stupid me has put it in the loft somewhere :-( .
