With the addition of bikes in Driveclub - hey PG, could add it to Horizon hint, hint - maybe Milestone will remember their game and add some more to it. It's really frustrating that they have the basis of a great game in place, but have half-cooked it.

A few more tracks, maybe even something open world and more classic bikes would've pushed this towards greatness. Of course, they would've helped matters with a locked 30fps, which itself would've made it a much better experience.

They need to work on the controls as well, I think. There is already enough content for people to not get around to trying because of poor controls as it is. The rendering issues I would consider a part of that, being an essential element of the core feedback loop.

And those menus! Just inexplicable loading of unnecessary fluff. It's the basics that let it down, really.

I'd love some classic bikes and narrow roads, though (but only with improved controls!). :)

So would you guys say it's worth having if I buy a used copy someday? That's what I've been thinking based on impressions. It would be the 360 version.

When I first load it up, the controls are really sloppy and I don't ride cleanly, but within a couple of laps I get the right amount of input and it's much, much smoother.

I'm not disagreeing, it shouldn't be like that in the first place.

I can be smooth too, with practice just the same as you say, but it still doesn't feel connected.

It's the way the initial turn-in is so violent, and initiated at the same speed no matter how much you want to turn. It makes it very difficult to judge how much you're turning until you're actually settled in a turn.

And then it's too easy to lose lean angle and too hard to get it back again when you inevitably have to adjust your line. Slow speed manoeuvring is atrocious, too; so sluggish in almost every case, like the AI rider struggles to balance (possibly a tyre model issue?).

The external, chase, view is a bit better on the "violence" front, but then it's too hard to tell if you've turned in at all until you're into a turn!! This lack of proportional feedback leads players to just poke the sticks until the bike is doing what they want, leading to jerky input and choppy lines.

It seems to be related to the handlebar angle ( "counter-steering"), and the rider animations. It just needs a clever "filter" (attenuating and accentuating in the right places) putting between the physical object being followed and the location of the camera, for all views.

Watching replays with that kind of input makes for horrid viewing. The poor bike never settles.

I fear if I put in TT back in the console now I've retrieved it from the loft, I'll find it hard to go back to Ride again.

My personal point of view is i think MotoGP 15 handles alot better than Ride and sounds better too.I am comparing both the PS3 versions here though.Do not know about the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions of these games.

I can not for the life of me figure out how to take pictures in this game. Can anyone help me out? I'm on Xbox 1.

Either on the pause menu, where you can select Free Camera or from a replay, you get the frame you wish to capture and then double tap the big Xbox button and Y to screenshot. Then find your pictures at XboxDVR or similar. Much quicker than using OneDrive on the console.

Thanks!

People still play this? Bought it via psn this week, PS4. EU Sale
Graphics not the best, but boy do I love that Suzuki gsx-r 1000 K5....handling and sound 👍👍
I'd play it till it wore out, if they'd only sort the choppy frame rate

Lock it to 30fps, for the sanity of gamers everywhere

X1 here

I reinstalled it recently but it's a bit hard to go back to after DriveClub Bikes (even with the small selection of bikes there, and more arcadey handling).

@RacerPaul, did not notice fps issues yet.

@Miths, yes Driveclub bikes is good but like to have sim physics now and again :)
Love the Suzuki bikes, great sound and detail!

@RacerPaul, no PS4. Played about 10 hours now, but no fps issues. Really nice ride feeling, controls feel good. That Suzuki SERT pro-circuit bike is sweet! Nice challenge with all assists off 👍👍

I haven't fired up RIDE for a while, maybe there's been a patch that helps with fps

I'll check later and get back to you 👍

I actually love this game. Got it probably like 2 weeks ago and I'm REALLY enjoying it. I never was much into bikes, but rode them on The Crew and it made me want a more realistic representation and I found this game. The graphics may not be the best and the load times suck, but I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I was always a car guy exclusively, but this is like finding a treasure with all these awesome bikes.

Yes the game surprised me a lot. Riding the faster bikes is good fun. Graphics are not the best, yet bike and rider detail look very good. Some tracks look OK too.

I've spent some of my winnings on the R7 from my preorder pack. What a wonderful machine.

I really wanted the NR, but I only had half of the 100k required.

I enjoy the game, but for whatever reason, I don't play it for hours and hours like I do with Forza.

How is the sound of the R7? Also is the '98 R1 any good? Don't have the dlc, wonder if i should buy it. Love the gsx-r's in this game, best sound by far.

The R1 is epic. I've got pics of the white/red one several pages back in this thread.

The R7 sounds good, about as good as we can expect from this game, anyway.

The original R6 is a nice ride, too. I've got it in blue and used yellow parts to mimic the wonderful Gauloises livery from the late-80s.

Will check your R1 images. Yes the R6 handles well...but the sound :( I mainly ride the gsx-r's, own all versions and the K5 sounds best I think.

I guess the R1 and R7 don't sound like the gsx-r's at all?

Ran both the R7 and original R1 at the north circuit of North Wales. Managed a quicker laptime on the R1, obviously, but the R7 was so much more controlled. The R1 is a hooligan, the R7 is a precision tool.

I ran the fastest ever lap on that track for the R7, but it's only the 329th fastest overall and I reckon I could go quicker with the slicks. Possibly get close to the mid-1:11s of my stock R1.

On a side note, anyone else feel like the game models tyre wear? The R1 set its fastest time after about the third or fourth lap, but by the end, it was impossible to keep up those speeds due to excess tyre slip and small wiggles in corner transition.
