Ridiculous Drift Cars- Anything Goes

Funny how everyone who is telling her to forget is still going on. If you want to move on, you make the first move, instead of telling someone to do so.

Please explain to me how that would work all the time? It just wouldn't because then the people would get away with what they say. I can voice my opinion on it because of free of speech just like she can say in her comment.
Oh wait crap. I forgot it's gtp there is no free of speech. Silly me.

It is not the argument that bothers me, i love a heated smart discussion myself, but the people telling her to leave it alone, yet they don't leave it alone themselves.

Was about to contribute to the argument, but I think I'm just gonna ignore all that has happened and post my Red Bull NASCAR.

Dom. This is one of those "Fun Drifting" Threads. I know drifting is a sport and its about style and angle. KDFA applies to this thread, Dom I love you like a older sister, but you do have to remember that this is a game. I personally dont use crazy looking cars and try and drift with them, but These guys do just let them have their fun. Don't be upset with me. These guys just wanna have fun! XD

Which is kind of the point. These guys their fun is drifting stupid cars. There is no point in drifting stupid cars, in my opinion, and i just stated that. That people hate me for that, i couldn't care less. I know who i am and what i can do, and i have fun in decent lobbies.
If they want my advice, it'd be: join my lobbies once in a while, see if you're cut out for the real drifting :)

Can't be real if it's a game. You can't make people play the way you want them to, as I've been told before. Selfish move on your part.

What is the point in drifting anyway?
You would be way faster without it. It also makes no sense to drive in circles for hours.
What I'm trying to say: There is no point in games. They are made to be fun, otherwise it would be work.

The point of drift is judge car control, angle, clipping points, and speed. Drifting is pointless when it comes to racing.

Besides, drift was born in mountains, with touge racing, where the lead car drifted to dificult an overtake, since the roads were so narrow. I may be talking bs here, but as far i know, that is it, and if you looked for a little of information, you would not make such a lame question.

I meant real, not referring to reality, but to a decent level of drifting. I don't care how people drift like I've said before, I just pointed out that when you meet some teams online, they're a totally different level than a lot of drifters out there.

Selfish? How selfish? Read my reply to Tomcat, and you will see what I think of drifting, and how selfish I really am.

The point in drifting is simple: Style > Speed. Which is why they judge differently then a normal race:
Angle, Line, Style. (40%, 40%, 20%), if i'm correct. Speed is only a minor part in drifting. (Speed is a part of the Style aspect). Also, this depends on what competition exactly, but as a guideline it's pretty good.

Drifting is about having fun together, not about drifting Solo, showing you're so much better than everyone else. Nor to attract attention because you are doing something very out of the ordinary.

When drifting, you need to learn to work together, not go for personal glory.

Drifting was not intended for being stylish. Read DarkAvenger's post. That sums it up. You need to step away from the D1 and FormulaD competitions for a bit.

Drifting is about having fun together, not about drifting Solo...

People can drift alone if they desire. Maybe it'll be fun, maybe it won't. But it's not a defining aspect of drifting itself.

...showing you're so much better than everyone else. Nor to attract attention because you are doing something very out of the ordinary.

Oh but I thought you said it was about style, in which case, you are to stand out, thus attracting attention.

When drifting, you need to learn to work together, not go for personal glory.

However in drifting competitions, the goal is to be glorious by means of winning, no? Working together is part of it, but there is only one to take all the glory.

Also, we've strayed a bit off-topic.

That is not the point of drifting. That is what competitions are about. The point of drifting is to have fun. You think the first time KT started drifting his first thought was how to make it a competition? I bet he had a huge smile on his face.

the origin of drifting Kunimitsu Takahashi, was the foremost creator of drifting techniques in the 1970s. He is noted for hitting the apex of a corner at high speed and then drifting through the corner, preserving a high exit speed. This earned him several championships and a legion of fans who enjoyed the spectacle of smoking tires.

how this adapts to what Keiichi did was KT was going down hills so to preserve exit speed drifting was necessary due to the low power of his ae86

Keep drifting fun. Remember that video? Comp don't mean crap, most are in it for the fame and money. The die hard drivers who run that wall are in it for the thrill. So people want to do crazy idea's whether it means making a ridiculous drift car on gt or doing something even more ridiculous irl. Remember the time drifting actually came about? everyone thought that was ridiculous too. If you want to go drift real then go find your friends to do that not bug others to do what you want.

Please go back on topic.

Drifting became popular because it's got more style than racing. Drifting is all about Style lol.

People can drift alone if they desire. Maybe it'll be fun, maybe it won't. But it's not a defining aspect of drifting itself.

Yeah they can, but drifting together is the reason for drifting. Drifting alone is done when there are no viable tandem partners or you're still in need of practice. (Or tuning a car etc.)

Oh but I thought you said it was about style, in which case, you are to stand out, thus attracting attention.

Yeah, you are to stand out by drifting, not by the amount of stupidity in car choice :)

However in drifting competitions, the goal is to be glorious by means of winning, no? Working together is part of it, but there is only one to take all the glory.
Hence i don't like drift comps.

Also, we've strayed a bit off-topic.

Maybe so, but it's just because of people turning my words around without actually reading and understanding what i'm writing. :)

People keep bringing up the fact that this whole thing is meant to be fun, and I couldn't agree more. I'm in it for that very reason but the fun of going door to door with someone of comparable or greater skill level can be diminished all but entirely when someone with a 4WD car attempts to join in (even if completely well-meaning) but CANNOT take the same lines due to the nature of the drivetrain and messes everything up. And that fun is diminished absolutely entirely when someone feels the need to intentionally disrupt it using their 4WD car (or race car with copious amounts of grip aided by downforce and tire width).

If you can use your "ridiculous" car as effectively as the others around you, go ahead. I have NOTHING against people using an Autozam or Beat, Cappuccino or whatever, when they make every attempt to not disrupt other players. Take a predictable line if you're going slow so that capable drifters can get around you.

If you feel the need to use something "ridiculous" on the other end of the spectrum, and I'm not necessarily condoning this (there's appropriat and there's blatantly inappropriate), do your best to not use the attributes of said car in a way that negatively effects those around you. If you see two people drifting together, it'll be hard to get around, so perhaps you could be patient and wait for a clean line or realize that the car you're using is unnecessary and simply switch to something more in line with what everyone else is using.

Fun lobbies where everyone is bunched together while still maintaining clean lines using the same car (an 86 GT '12 in this example) can easily be ruined by a matte black RS 6 Avant with Pasteltone pale green wheels. True story.

It's all fun, can we keep it that way?

Pure personal opinion and in no way defensible. IMO the reason for drifting is fun, expression, and creating lines. Drifting together just adds to the fun.

Yeah, you are to stand out by drifting, not by the amount of stupidity in car choice :)

Guarantee you no one thought Kumakubo was stupid when he modified an orange STI to RWD to stand out. Once again, this is just your personal opinion.

Maybe so, but it's just because of people turning my words around without actually reading and understanding what i'm writing. :)

People are arguing your opinions which you are tying to pass as fact. Big difference.

This is why Tsuchiya-san drift his car :

He is drifting for his own enjoyment, for the thrills and he loves it !!!

Enjoy the video, and less pointless debating :)

And these are some of the cars that I drift in my leisure time :

Worst thread ever imo. Promoting people to use as uncommon as possible cars when drifting makes no sense. Drifting is about tandems, and the more cars match the better tandems will be. Using cars nobody can tandem with is a horrible way to go ego-tripping imo.

Whatever. If you can drift odd cars that means you are more skilled. Sure anyone can drift a silvia or an s2000. It takes real skill to drift a hot pink van.
