Dampers in GT6 play a huge part alongside springs, the dampers setup listed each have unique handling, changing them alone will alter how the car react when braking, entering a corner and exits.

I have been using real life method to tune dampers in GT6, have a look at my latest Honda CRX Del Sol for example :)

Yeah, I tried the other way, didn't like what it did for the car. 5/5 4/4 seems to to be the better of the two setting for me as the car doesn't hit/bounce so hard on the bumps

Last run was funny, managed to do a 720 sorry my son says I did a 1080, apparently I can't count to three lol at the 1:42 mark, lost 7-8 secs in the process and still pulled off a "Clean" 7:54:xxx

Then I went to Med tires...huge difference! I took over 15+sec off of my lap, and would have been a lot more had I not been hitting all my SH's breaking and turning marks. I can see once using the SM tires a few laps I could break into the low 7:30's...and someone who knows what they're doing on this track I am sure could take it down much further.

Notes :
TODA RACING built the demo car for their line up of engine + drivetrain tune up and suspension kit. The car has 2.2 TODA Racing Stoker kit fitted along with complete internal upgrades + high lift camshaft, sports injection, updated ECU, full exhaust system, intake and exhaust manifold. The car estimated to produce roughly 280PS :D The car also fitted with Work Emotion 18 inch wheel - closest match in GT6 is BLITZ BRW Profile 08.

Since detailed power data is hard to find, I have to calculate rough estimate based on a known FD2 Civic with TODA upgrade package without stroker kit, intake and sports injection ( 7 PS increase ) has around 248PS. 280PS IMO is pretty accurate based on information from people that I consulted :)

This version is optimized for 450PP, different ride height, front damper, anti roll bar and front toe are used. Power and torque have been tweaked as well as weight for optimum balance of power/weight/torque.

Tuned and tested at Laguna Seca, Tsukuba and Street of Willow. When tested at Tsukuba the car is capable of easily hitting 1:05s lap on comfort soft. My best lap so far is at 1:04.5xx at Tsukuba on comfort soft. Very quick for 450PP FF car.

UPDATE : 1.05, new alternative setup with damper optimized for more response, ARB setup for better turn in and stability, toe out for added steering response. Brake balance set at 6/8 for better rotation.

ENJOY

One of the quickest, best handling 450PP FF car has been updated, new alternative suspension setup for even sharper handling as well as updated brake balance. Consistent 1:05s at Tsukuba on comfort soft with best lap at 1:04.5xxx ( still on stock gearbox ) :)👍

This little pocket rocket is coming soon ( 450PP, 1:05s on comfort soft at Tsukuba )

Notes :
This car is built according to a J's Racing built customer track racer back in the late 90's, the car was sold off and left Japan to live as track day car. Information for the build is very hard to find, I have to scour forums, and J's Racing sites, and finally got a user who have been close with the car owner that can give me further details on power specs for the J's Racing B18C race engine, suspension, LSD etc.

The car is one mean FF machine, the body has been gutted, reinforced and fitted with a roll cage, weighs at 1040 kg. Powerplant came from J's Racing hand built B18C racing engine producing 220PS at the wheel, the engine alone costs more than half the price of a brand new Del Sol at over a million yen

LSD uses J's Racing High Traction model with low initial torque, 55/25 cam angle and locking rate tuned for R comp Semi Slick ( S tire or Sports Medium in GT6 ). Final gear also uses J's Racing 4.7 ratio built to withstand higher power for racing. Suspension has been upgraded with newer J's Racing CRUX Engineering SPL version Racing Damper Kit, with spring rate set at 14/10 aimed at racing on the track.

For GT6 replica, I tuned and tested mainly on Tsukuba and Nurb GP/F using comfort soft tires. The power might overwhelm the street tire easily on low speed exit and tight turns, modulate the throttle if necessary.

At Tsukuba the car managed easy 1:05s flat on sports medium with 1:04 within reach or maybe even 1:03. This Del Sol has pretty tight handling overall, but still relatively easy to rotate and throw around with smooth throttle and steering. Always trail brake and slow in fast out :D

ENJOY
Interesting car but the skinny tires kills the magic. 👍

Notes :
BMW M3 GTS, with 444HP/450PS, 1530kg. The replica is built upon request, I researched BMW M forums, press releases, car reviews and consulting owners of M3 via forum.

Suspension damper settings are adapted from real life setup and KW recommended setup, use these to your preferences. Try them all, and see which one works best for given track and tire used. Personally I used winding/twisty setup. Improve Body Rigidity is optional, I suggest to install it only when you feel the car is too loose as it makes is a bit more responsive but tighter.

The replica uses comfort soft tires in order to replicate lap time accurately. The M3 GTS managed to lap Nurb GP/F in easily consistent 2:21s just like real life lap time record.

I decided to combine 6th and 7th into one, the replica uses real life 7th for 6th. Please read the notes on gear ratio section for explanation. Shift up from 5th to 6th on redline.

When tested at Nordschleife, the car managed sub 8 minutes with ease on comfort soft tire, so it should be able to replicate real life lap record easily.

Use the brakes to rotate on entry and throttle to steer the car one exit :D I have lots of enjoyment driving this replica, hopefully you will too.

ENJOY
Very good car, shame it's too heavy.

Very good car, shame it's too heavy.

The Del Sol is unique indeed, the Fit RS has similar skinny tire, but has better grip/handling overall than the del sol even when the Fit has higher torque :(

The BMW M3 GTS is a replica, but you are free to reduce the weight further to make it more competitive :)

I have Lancia Stratos at 450PP and 500PP coming as well, the 450PP version can do 1:05s at Tsukuba on comfort soft with a stock gearing

LOL< you're going to attempt to tame this savage beast :nervous: I wonder 💡 how much weight and front ballast all those lights carry

OK, so I had an extra 325,000 plus parts lying around, had to have those lights...and they work too lol....so I for now just put on the Default soft racing suspension...Took it out on Nuremberg...10+ mins, its was shameful:embarrassed: I see why it was a rally car, cause it wanted to spend time in the grass than the asphalt....now, I was using CS tires, but dam, my 70 Nova SS with SH, I got well under 8 mins. This car is tail happy, just wants to nose in and swing its ass all over the track....you have you work cut out for you on this one :banghead:

The Stratos will have real life weight distribution at 46/54, and it's very much fun to drive, not a savage beast :P

R32 is more front heavy than actual R34 (because it's 57:43)?! Didn't know that o.O

I found the information from an owner who have corner weighted R32 GTR ( fuel and driver inside ), and his was 58/42, some R32 GTR has 60/40 and 59/41, depend on the ride height ( yes this affects distribution too ) and stuff in the car ( mods and stereo ). With Mine's I decided to use 58/42 as I also read from a magazine article on a lightened R32 GTR for track days at sub 1400kg also has 58/42 and other racing sim which have the car ( Mine's ) uses 58/42. :D

Notes :
I have this Stratos since release day, used often on cruise lobby online on lesser state of tune. I decided to tune up to 450PP. The weight kept at stock level, with weight distribution fixed to replicate real life car spec ( HF Stradale ). I removed the rear spoiler and installed rally style front lights :D

Using Gr4 spec suspension, LSD and gearing. Suspension comes from Eibach Gr 4 ERS springs, Bilstein Damper with conservative 450/475 spring rate, while LSD from Gr 4 ZF plate based LSD with max lock set at 40%. For gearing, I used Gr 4 Stratos HF Rally close ratio gearset to make sure the engine stays on the sweet spot range.

With the tune, this Stratos HF Stradale is able to lap Tsukuba in easy consistent 1:05s on comfort soft even on stock gearing, with a best lap of 1:04s  The tune works on comfort soft and below if you are a throttle master ;), all sports tire and also has been tested on racing hard with good result.

Tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Bathurst, Big Willow, Nurb GP/F and Nordschleife :D The car is pretty stable, with good rotation, always brake smoothly, apply a bit of throttle when lifting the brakes to avoid excessive rotation. When the car pushes/understeer, reduce throttle - do not lift off all of a sudden, modulate at around 50%, this will make the car rotate smoothly. And lastly, do not jerk the steering when on a curve or driving at high speed, the car do not like rough steering input :)

ENJOY

Minor differences with the 450PP, the front ARB has been increased, higher rear toe in for better traction/stability. LSD initial torque has been adjusted to reflect the higher engine torque. Turbo kit has been installed, giving much higher torque and peak HP. Final gear 2.824 is highly recommended for high speed tracks like Nordschleife.

Notes :

What can I say, this CUSCO Project was started early when I got GT6, the car has seen many races. The build is extreme for an FF car, handling wise. Power upgrades are subtle, aiming for better response around corners. LSD is CUSCO 2 way Type RS, as in real life, this 2 way on FF car is brutal, finesse and certain skill set are necessary to avoid understeer, be smooth, brake early, manage weight transfer and enjoy mid corner to exit traction.

Suspension based on CUSCO DE3A Coil Over Damper KIT CN ZERO-2R, spring rate are custom taken from preset CUSCO Springs available for the Zero-2R damper : optional preset spring F : 6,7,8,9,10 and R : 4,5,6,7, The 6/7 spring set is the best I have tested that gives good balance.

Test and tuned at Mt Panorama-Bathurst in the rain, Brand Hatch GP, Tsukuba, Streets of Willow and Stowe Cicuit.

UPDATE : 1.05 version, new damper, new coilover kit with new spring rate set, new ARB, camber and toe to give the FTO excellent balance. Updated LSD initial torque to maximize the suspension and the tune works for all comfort and sports tire ( sports soft )

The CUSCO ZERO FTO GR has been updated, receiving massive handling and LSD overhaul :) A 450PP version is coming as well.

Notes :

I have built the Clio RS on 450PP and about to post the tune here, but I decided to make a lesser state tune at 420PP for the Brands Hatch Indy Super Lap.

The car uses H&R Coilover Kit with spring rate at 80N/mm front and rear. LSD is optimized for traction and response without sacrificing steering response. The original 450PP tune has over 1200kg with distribution as closest as possible to the real car which has 65/35  But for this version, the tune is focused on light weight, agility and balance around corners. It was originally tested and tuned at Tsukuba, but I found with slight changes, works pretty well at Brands Hatch Indy.

The car is capable of 54s ( GOLD ) without SRF or any other aids - ABS 0, and should be able to do 53s with a better driver. My best time has flat 21s 1st sector at around mid 54s lap. Should be a good base for those who wanted to try something different :D

ENJOY

I highly appreciate, that from time to time, or when it's necessary, you recheck your setups.

It's kinda cleaning your house. 👍

I will be updating older tunes and replicas made before 1.04 :)

Notes :
I built the spec Miata replica long ago, it's still work in progress with some settings/specs still need to be work on. This replica is fine tuned to fit the rules for tuning challenge.
The car uses Spec Miata suspension setup as close as possible to real life, the balance is good with stable rear end and pretty agile front. Care need to be taken when exiting corners, the rear can wiggle a bit, but it should pose no problem :)

I tested the car at Streets of Willow together with a friend, the car can do 1:27s lap with ease, a good run would see sub 40s 2nd sector ( at fish bowl ). Tune is sill not final :) Fit Sports Medium to get close to real life Hoosier Spec Miata R6 DOT racing tire.

UPDATE 1.05 : New Damper setup aimed at neutral balance with a little loose flavor on exit. Ride height is level now as previously was set as replica giving low front, high rear - tendency to understeer.
ARB has been adjusted to complement new damper, giving more responsive feedback.
Camber set at 0.2 all around as I like the number and the feel of it
Toe out at the front increased slightly for better steering response, and rear at neutral for better directional changes mid corner.
Brake balance set at 2 click higher at the rear to reduce the push under heavy braking.
LSD has been revised with low preload and lower locking during braking and coasting.

@Motor City Hami, Hi, I got the Spec Miata tune updated, this is not the same as the one posted on the FITT Miata Challenge, if you are interested, give it ago, make sure to read the tune notes :D It should not have understeer issue like the FITT Miata version.

Here is a part of my method to tuning cars in GT6 - this is posted at Stratos Difficult Car thread :

With spring rate set/chosen, time to tune the rest of the suspension ( Deciding the spring rate also can be done in similar method as with damper below - the higher the grip of the tire, the harder the spring, running racing tires with very soft spring is not advisable )

Damper, here is a simple step that I adapted from the method that I did in real world, start off with all at lowest value, this includes compression, extension, ARB, and zero toe as well as camber. Drive the car on the track where you can be consistent and has variety corners to highlight the car's weakness easily. I would suggest to set the LSD to 5/5/5 first.

Now, make changes to rear compression only, change to max at 10, and drive for several laps, make a note of how the car handle, go back and reduce by 2, 8 then 6 then 4 and so on, this will take time, so use shorter track if you prefer. Once you feel the rear has better traction and rides the bumps well, continue to adjusting the rear extension, set it at max, then one click higher than compression, then same as compression and 1/2 click lower. Make a note of each setting handling, choose one which gives better stability under acceleration on mid corner and exits. Also pay attention to how the car rotates when braking and turning. Now onto the front damper, with the rear setup done, do the same on the front compression, make a note of each value, how the car behaved under braking, hitting bumps, changing directions and corner entry grip. Set to the value that gives the best feel. Then do the extension, find one that gives good braking ability, less understeer/push on entry.

Now the damper is done, time for the ARB, as they are set at 1 front and back, the car will have some roll ( depend on the weight, chassis and spring rate strength ). Increase rear to max, and drive the car, notice how the rear has less roll and much more responsive, but usually becomes tight on the limit. Same steps, reduce and drive until you find a value that feels responsive but give the car good rotation. Do the same with front ARB, at max, it should be responsive but very tight when entering mid/high speed, find the spot that balance the response and entry rotation.

For camber, any value above 0.0 will reduce grip, so use that to your advantage, if you have FF car that still lack in rotation for example, use front 0.0 and rear at 0.5 or above - I don't recommend to go above 1.5, as usually it starts to hit cornering speed and the rear loses grip too easily. For the Stratos, if the front tires is too grippy, use 0.2 for a start, I don't recommend higher than 1.0 as it will be detrimental to front tire grip causing understeer and lower cornering speed.

Toe : I usually use real world alignment and there's should be no need to use high value if the spring, damper, ARB and camber sorted out. I never use more than toe in or out of 0.30. For FF car, 0.10 toe out or less is usually enough with neutral rear at 0.00. Use both toe in for Stratos - as IRL, Stratos HF Stradale owners used front toe in and neutral rear or same toe in as front ( 1mm to 2mm ), don't go too high as it will induce understeer, 0.15 to 0.19 toe in is more than enough IMO.

Notes :
I love this car, I really do !!!

For every GT6 player, this car is a must have  The 1st car that every garage owner should be proud of, the FIT RS is a beginner's car, yet it has great potential when tuned and sounds decent, just don't use stock exhaust

This 450PP build is based on J's Racing Honda FIT RS track car ( Super Taikyu ). The weight distribution is fixed to replicate real life specification at 62/38, another GT6 mistake :) Fear not, this nose heavy FF is still agile and a rocket on twisty tracks.

For suspension, J's Racing OHLINS Type S coilover is used, with 10kg/mm front and 6kg/mm rear spring rate, the coilover allows -50mm drop on the front and -60mm drop at the rear. With damper tuned for balance and response, this FIT eats corners at Tsukuba with ease.

LSD is 1.5 way with medium preload for good response when traction is needed most, and low locking rate to balance things out.

Transmission uses 6 speed custom close ratio combined with ATS Final Gear at 4.688 :D This gives the FIT awesome acceleration that keeps the engine in sweet power range of the high rpm turbo. Adjust the final if necessary when higher top speed is required.

The car was tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Brands Hatch GP + Indy, Nurb GP/F and Streets of Willow :D
The J's Racing FIT RS 450PP is capable of mid 1:05s lap at Tsukuba on comfort soft. Included below is the replay file of the test lap with the time done on 1st lap :D Take a note of how braking is done on 1st corner, smooth is fast 👍

Don't forget to try this little pocket rocket on sports medium ( R comp semi slick ) to appreciate just how wonderful a FIT can be on the track !!!

ENJOY

This is like the missing link in the evolution theory. For the first time (afaik), wrote down clearly what can be done, from the very first step. Many, many thanks! :) 👍

You're welcome :D I tried to be concise and clear at the same time. I am still learning too.

Can't wait for this. Looks like it's been upgraded from an RS with a cvt drone-box :yuck: to a Type R

Wait no more, I have updated the post :) I have also included a replay file for viewing pleasure, I enjoyed watching it :P, the 1st corner braking is epic, and guess what's the driver name ;)

ENJOY

Awesome . Love how you explain what you've done in your builds 👍. Everyone has a FIT, being the first car in the game so it's really good to have another tune out there. This little bluey is off the charts
