An early version of Ford GT40 MKI 1966 replica, using various source of data, used 1080kg weight, dry weight of real car varied from 900-1000kg, fuel tank capacity is 140L, weight distribution at 38:62.

Suspension is custom, spring rate set using lower rear rate approach with ARB set for medium stifness, camber and toe range is typical range for GT40 ( including replica/kit cars ).

LSD has pretty high lock rate with gear ratio available on wide choices of final drive and gear sets. Recommend the Kar Kraft modified Colotti Type 37 4 Speed on 3.092 final for medium speed track like Motegi Oval.
High speed track benefits from ZF 5 Speed with lower final.

Tire is Comfort Hard to replicate road car GT40 factory tire, this should be good enough for 42s lap at Motegi Oval on 4 speed Colotti with 3.092 final. Aim for 41s if you can :D

The GT40 was extensively tested at various tracks from Apricot Hill Reverse, Rome, Motegi Oval, Brands Hatch GP, Bathurst to Trial Mountain and Deep Forest.

Notes :
This is one of my hardest to make replica, I had to researched everywhere, magazines, forums, and technical docs. The real CS V3 has 200PS base engine in tech specs, but for racing use, it has FIA approved racing exhaust + catalyst and TMG Updated ECU. I decided to use only racing exhaust to get closer to the real car revlimit at 7450RPM. The tire is Pirelli DH slick, but in GT6, racing hard has too much grip, more like DM/DS slick, so I opted for sports medium ( similar to R comp semi slick ) or sports soft ( similar to DH slick IMO ) with optional to use racing hard.

Suspension of the real car is Ohlins TTX36 2 way Racing coilover with main + helper springs. To adapt these springs, I combined both to one spring rate :) The real car uses 2 rear differential option, one stock open diff with 3.727 and torsen LSD with 4.100 ( GT6 stock LSD + gearbox came with this ), I have included both, use the 3.727 transmission setup with open diff LSD setup.
Everything else are as close as possible to real car. Enjoy the drive :) This car will be great for spec endurance racing.

UPDATE : Major update to the suspension, ARB has been tweaked, camber and toe alignment has been corrected, added optional spring rate setup ( there are differing opinion on helper springs being calculated into main spring rate - both are listed, one do not and another include helper spring rate in total value ), added both rear diff offered by TMG, FD20A ( open diff with 3.727 gear ) and FD20AT ( Torsen diff with 4.100 gear - came with stock GT86 in GT6 )

UPDATE 1.15 : Fixed Toe values.

UPDATE 1.22, October 2016 : Added Alternate Damper+ARB for better compliance, easier to drive on the limit, and highly recommended to try this first. Tested at Deep Forest and Nurburgring 24H on both CM and SM tires. Nicely balanced at Deep Forest even on CM.

Not bad changes, just prefered the old ones. But with helper springs added, my word what a difference :D.

Have you tried on bumpy tracks like Deep Forest and Nurburgring ? The softer springs may work better there.

Never thought the stiffer springs suited Brands Hatch :P, I tested the softer springs on CM to SM, didn't tried SS, so your feedback is valuable.
I edited the post again to add recommendation for SS tire with stiffer springs :D
If I'm honest, neither did I :P, I went to Brands specifically because I only had the softer set-up on the car in my garage (Must have been from fanclub race once, was fully painted and numbered up.) :). I only tried the harder springs once there and what can I say...I kinda liked it :D.

Tried the softer set with SH on Nordschliefe last night. Much better than with the stiffer springs. Damper and arb changes really helped maintain stable high pace (well, high pace to me :crazy:) without being upset by the kerbs I did run over and the odd bumps this place has to offer :).
Should be a nice flexible car to have around with different settings suiting different track types :). You'd almost think that was the aim :P. :cheers:

The car was featured in Hot Version / Best Motoring ( not sure which one :lol: ) Advan Neova AD07 vs AD08 Time Attack. This replica is based on the very same car that broke the street car/tire lap record at Tsukuba ( under 1 minute ). Driven by the drift master / HKS Test Driver Nobuteru Taniguchi, the HKS CZ200S posted 59.495 time on lap 8. A testament of the excellent performance, consistency and durability of the tire. The tire used was Advan Neova AD08 ( there's a possibility the tire uses early phase "R" Orange Oil Compound which later become AD08R ) The equivalent is slightly below SM tire in GT6, as the SH tire severely lacks in straight line grip, but SM has a bit too high lateral grip, so I have to make do with SM tire and it works great.

The weight and distribution data uses HKS own test car data for the Hipermax III Sport '09 Spec. Test car weight at 1581kg with 58.1 / 41.9 distribution, reflected in the ballast position. Power set at 567HP / 575 PS with all power upgrades installed and oil change. Torque is highest possible at 482.2 ft-lb / 66.7 kgfm, slightly lower than the real car 67.5 kgfm.

Suspension uses HKS Hipermax III Sport '09 Spec, with 12/10 spring rate. The rear spring rate is not possible in GT6 :grumpy:, so I have to use slightly lower rate at 9.77 kg/mm. I have tuned the damper and ARB to help the car easier to rotate. With the visual ride height and test car ride height being front lower, the understeer effect needs to be reduced/controlled. I have provided a variety of ride height and alignment to choose from. The recommended setup is 12/9.77 + Visual Ride Height ( 70/80 ) and HTF Test Car Alignment, this is the setup that I used for the GT6 vs Real Life video :)

There is also a second set of suspension setup which uses lower spring rate package at 10/8. This is suited better for bumpy tracks. It comes with the same variety of ride height and alignment as 12/9.77

AYC has been tuned as well with base value of 88 used on the replica ( recommended range 86 - 96 ). Feel free to adjust it to your liking / driving style.

The transmission remain stock as the real car uses 6 speed manual H pattern with HKS own prototype gears ( strengthened to endure the torque/power ) and uses 6 speed SST Getrag ratio and final. The base car used might be originally a manual 5 speed Evo X or SST 6 speed Evo X and HKS did a Manual H pattern conversion. A twin plate clutch also fitted ( HKS LA Type )

Racing Brakes kit has been installed to replicate the braking power / distance of the real car which have upgraded Endless Brake Kit : Monoblock forged 6-pot calipers (f), 2-piece mini 6-pot calipers (r), Endless 2-piece E-slotted rotors (f/r), Endless brake pads all around. Brake balance set at 4/4 for good stable braking power.

I have installed a rear wing, recreating as close as possible the real car Esprit GT Carbon Wing ( fitted on the real life lap record ) The Esprit GT wing was replaced after wards with HKS own GT wing.

The HKS CZ200S replica was tuned and tested at Willow Springs, Twin Ring Motegi Road and Tsukuba ( on comfort tire and sports tire ). At Twin Ring Motegi Road and Comfort Soft ( 12/9.77 + Visual+Test Alignment ), it managed a 2:06s lap time in 1st lap, quicker than the Gallardo SL LP570-4 and Nissan GTR '07 replica on same CS tire :eek: A replay of the Motegi lap has been included.


I also have included below a replay of the lap replicating the real life record at Tsukuba. The lap in GT6 is 59.484 against real life 59.495. I drive with similar pace to real life ( I watched the real life lap and used what I saw as a reference on how Taniguchi-san attack the track + how hard he pushed the car ), and you can see that the braking, steering, shift actions are very similar. A Youtube video has also been made, credits goes to @Lewis_Hamilton_, who helped created/edited/uploaded the video on his account, view it and leave a comment or like :)

The HKS CZ200S has been updated with alternative damper/arb setup which should give much better weight transfer, transient peak grip and rotation from mid corner to exit.

The self aligning torque is one aspect that often I noticed when I watch drift Assetto Corsa videos with wheel ( more apparent to see ), counter steering looks non-intuitive as driver needs to guide the wheel, nursing it when letting go should have allowed the wheel to self centered ( high caster setup also have influence as used often on drift cars ) Even cars like RUF CTR have very pronounced self centering in real life ( Best Motoring full wet skid pad test with onboard cam ) It's one of the most important aspect to simulate as cars do not grip all the time.

Tested at various tracks from Trial Mountain, Deep Forest and Matterhorn Short. On CM, it did 28s at Matterhorn Short, comparable to the TVR Griffith 500. It lapped in 1:32s at Deep Forest on CM.

Anyone want to try it on GT6 ? with the usual wheel like G27, DFGT or T300 ?

This is possible in Battle Gear, I also have seen it in japanese youtuber drifting at Eiger with G27, I think it was GT5P or GT5, it was long time ago, the man used gloves, and racing shoes :lol:

Yuta-san did 57.375 lap on cold morning, he reached 206+kmh on back straight ( 5th gear ) and took the last turn in 4th gear. The tire should be SS in GT6. Lower front ARB to 2 for tight track like Tsukuba, it helped with turn in.

It was pretty strong, well compared to the other car's I've been driving lately. The only one I've done as many miles with recently is the 2000GT for the WRS TT (coincidently ;)) with stock settings and oil change on CS tyre. And it's way stronger than that one 👍.

Don't know if I'll be able to beat that time, but you never know. I'll give it a try :)
