RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

First things first, guys? You forgetting RKM's pet Dragon? :D

And the next thing, both RJ and Roj hate the Impreza '10, so that may be an issue. Still, it's up to them to decide if they want to or not. I might.

Really they hate this car?? :nervous: Oh I hope they will help me hehe:sly:, if no, :indiff:

Well perhaps Dragonthing doesn't mind Imprezas?
 I don't think she has a problem with them. But then, nor does RJ or Roj have that issue, they just hate the latest ones. Anyone who hates the legendary 22B just doesn't have a soul. :D

If someone are really hating the 22B are dumb. I hate the new impreza's look, my GTI looks a lot better.

 Roj and RJ call it the 'Kia Impreza'.

Anyway, I need Bunta/Roj again to tutor me on the secrets of TM. I'm hitting 1:35.05s with my 467PP Altezza, but I need to get moar from it!! Any helps? I know the gears thing, and I'm doing the "don't push it till the tyres are warm" thing as well, but I can't get it to do any better…… :(

Oh, by the way, I'm going to go make myself a Cup of Tii :D

Tuner Comments:
ImprezaAddict wanted us to tune a maxed out M3 CSL on racing soft tyres. Usually, we wouldnt publically release such a tune, but when you drive this M3 CSL, you'll soon see why we consider it to be one of our best so far.

Please do not feed the CSL. It will eat anything, even an Enzo.
I have 1 small problem with this car...the car's brakes seem pretty "weak". It just doesn't stop as well as other cars. I found that I have to brake much harder and longer than usual. More often than not, it results in oversteer. Would a higher brake balance level + front bias fix this?

2nd thing I notice, the car doesn't lose speed that much when the throttle is released. This car needs less throttle on the corners than other cars. Can somebody please confirm this? Thank you.

Come to think of it I might have limited it!Thanks for the advice. 👍

Edit; It was limited! :ouch:

Edit; Are the LSD settings stock?

Do not do not do not do not install an LSD on that car. You should have the factory LSD installed as well as the factory center diff. NOT the adjustable ones.

Review of the RX7 R400

So I came to RKM's thread to see whats new after spec 2.0 and saw they updated a few for 2.0. I had never tried the RX7 R400 yet so I decided that would be my first choice. When I was tuning it, all I could think about was how horrible the tune looked. I mean max speed 112? An odd looking LSD tune? But RKM had never disappointed before so I put my doubts aside and took my new RX7 to the Nurburgring.

That's all my "usual" setup.

As I pulled out onto the track I wasn't expecting much but I was very pleased to see it would do well over 112 mph, typo perhaps? On the back straight I got it to 177. The suspension was very nice as well, handling itself well at high speeds with very predictable, smooth oversteer.

When you set the gearing as I said to, it'll do the 0-60 dash in 1st but should be shifted into 6th as early as 150mph.

What put me off about this car was the transmission.... It felt much too long and slow. It had decent power in the mid range but there wasn't any high revving, eardrum bursting, roaring engine sound that makes racing that much more exciting. Instead I got this steady hum while the car rolled along. Also, there was no real pull, just a steady climb up the tachometer and the highest I got was third gear (fourth on the straight though).

This is what makes it sound like you didn't do the gearing right. You should set to default (so final is at 4.300), then set the Max Speed slider to 112, then set the individual gear ratios and the final drive to 2.500. When all is said and done the top speed on the top right of the transmission setting screen should read 222mph I believe. Shift at redline except for the shift from 5th to 6th, which should happen at 150mph.

This was the first tune I tested from Rotary Junkie, and I don't really think I like it all that much. Its a good car, don't get me wrong. But there's a lack of excitement while driving it. It kind of reminds me of when Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear reviewed the MP4-12C. He said (and this is a loose quote from memory) "I asked one of the engineers why it was so hard to turn off the traction control and he asked why anyone would want to do that." "To have fun, and he started thinking like he didn't understand why having no traction would be fun" Thats kind of how this car feels to me.

You're not driving it hard enough! That or your version of fun involves race tires and 9001hp while never actually pushing the car to the limit.

Edit: About the Kia Impreza...

Yep, Roj and I both hate it. It's a very fast car, it's just incredibly boring to drive and tune. You can make it listen but I have no will to redo the one I did for the February TCC (it won... Doesn't mean I like the car). Chances are it's been messed with a bit with Spec II, not gonna fix it.

Oh right!!! I just remembered you redid your RX7! I'm going to drive it again, reporting back 4-5 hours later. :D

And RJ, you seem rather irritated in the post

It's 4AM and I woke up with a headache. Give me a break. :P

Edit: Actually once I finish my touge car I'm going to finally do the Chaser ahead of your Quattro, your Quattro, and then the EvoX.

Excuses, excuses :P Mind you, you're always irritated in some form or other anyways

RJ,

Is the Indy A tune for the Indy Ovel only?

I just fitted it but noticed there wasnt any diff settings, also the gears were crazy long :/

oh and you have 5th XXXX then 5th XXXX (instead of 6th) :)

It's just the name. Named after that TXDR2 or whatever game character. It shouldn't be, knowing RJ, it's probably the tranny trick'd gearbox, right?

Just noticed as well with your tunes that you now list them in alphabetical order. I like the idea, it's good. ;)

so its not for Indy?

485bhp isnt alot to help try and get it to 284mph then :/

the 5th/6th thing is just a typo, the actual gearing tho looks like a oval set up tho

It'll never do 284mph and really won't use 6th much. There is no differential installed (as I already yelled at another person about) nor is there a center diff.

Not an oval setup at all.

oooops my bad :/

fair enough, with the 6th gear so long I thought it might be for drafting, but your right, I just tried it and it seems ok so 👍

Most of you kids these days are high on sugar by default. ;)
Hence why I was up till 4 AM yesterday. Sugar overload

Oh, RJ, I know you have a Ferrari F10 on share, any chance in seeing a tune for it in the coming weeks/months/years/decades? (select the one closest to GT6's release)
