RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

Firstly I chucked on some Racing Soft tyres cos I noticed that RKM had theirs fitted with RC soft, so to be fair I fitted it with the same to do all of the testing, both before the RKM tune and after.
Oh. Crap. It's supposed to have sports softs on it. I guess I made a typo when typing it up. My bad entirely. :dunce: It's times like these where I'm glad we get people who want to test an interesting car and help us see things that we otherwise would've missed, so thank you. 👍
Absolutley different car second time round with the RKM tune, you guys took a boring red Alfa and made it into an astounding, scary little red Alfa. Turn in is sharp and precise, scalpel like, acceleration is great, thanks to all that engine and body work it now keeps up with my RKM tuned R34 round Trial Mountain, and now with the suspension and gearbox suited to the car it not only hooks up, it grabs hold of the tarmac and gives everything else on the track a bloody nose. its like little red ridding hood, absolutley innocent looking and unassuming until she removes her red cape to reveal the two shotguns and Uzi and a fist full of grenades. It'll give anything a run for its money in the right hands. was that and Aston Martin that I just RAN OVER, I think so, cant tell, its too small in the mirror...
Thank you for the review! Even though it has the wrong tyres (again, my mistake and thank you for indirectly pointing it out), it's good to hear that it does well. 👍 I'll still take a request since you put so much work into your first review (and first post! Welcome to :gtplanet: by the way!) and it would be unfair of me to say otherwise.

I'll just fix the setup now... :embarrassed:

Thankyou for the welcome, its great to be here.

yea I thought RC Softs was a bit overkill, but I figured you guys know best, so just went with it, tried it with sports softs aswell, was quite fun, even got some sideways action, thanks to the mighty hand brake.

Im also doing a review of your DLC Challenger, will have that postd by tonight.

Will get a request through to you once ive made a decision, thinking Ginetta G4.

Looking forward to the Challenger review! Despite the DLC's popularity, not many people leave reviews for the DLC tunes. :indiff:

I've tried and failed with the Ginetta unfortunately, it's an axe murderer no matter what I do.

I would like you to tune my FTO STC after I get done with the 1000km at Suzuka Endurance race. Lap 101 right now.

Call me stupid, how do I send you a car?

I dont know your PSN?

I hear you about the Ginetta, great looking car, but man, when it goes wrong it ALL goes wrong

The name says it all "Challanger"
Challange your driving technique, challanger your driving spirit, challange your NERVE.

when i saw this I had to give it a go, Im a fan o american muscle cars, and a racing spec dodge... just try an stop me.

First thought. Love the green, looks awesome. second thought. This thing is fun and sounds great. How can RKM top this. Well......

Right the review

as per my first post, done in "Top Gear" styles

No oil changes, no driving aids, just straight outa the shop with RC Hard tyres

Speed Run

0-100 Km/h 3.664 sec
0-200 Km/h 9.692 sec
Max G-Force 0.85G
Max Speed 309 flat, Maxed out
0-400m 11.266 sec
0-1000m 19.947 sec in 6th @ 6,800 Rpm

As im sure you'll agree, these figures really speak for themselves, quick isnt the word, standing quarter in 11 seconds, on cold RC hard tyres, with wheel spin at the start. Impressed.

Now for the time trials

Trial mountain: 1:27.433 Sec
(just faster than the brera, with the wrong tyres on lol)

Laguna Seca : 1:26.485

So all in all a really quick american made sports car with green paint and some stickers thrown on. still, works well and sounds fantastic.

Now for the RKM workshop to do their business

As before, no oil change, same tyres, no driving aids

Speed test

0-100Km/h 3.660 sec (not much difference really, just more wheel spin)
0-200Km/h 8.195 sec (difference of 1.497 sec)
Max G-force 0.85G (no Change)
Max Speed 344.8Km/h in 6th @ 6,900 Rpm
0-400m 10.750 sec (difference of 0.516sec)
0-1000m 18.711 sec in 5th @ 7,200 Rpm (difference of 1.236sec)

Not really much has improved, half second on the quarter, 1 an a bit second in the quick 1km run. however, that supercharger allowed the car to really start to pull away once she got moving, just need to sort out the wheels letting go at the launch.

Time Trials

trial Mountain 1:25.433 (difference of 1.889 sec)

Laguna Seca 1:23.319 (difference of 3.166 sec)

Now thats impressive, lets remember that this is a race car, so it was already setup for the track, but with the improvements that RKM have done, its turned into something special. almost TWO seconds a lap faster on Trial Mountain and over THREE seconds faster on Laguna Seca, Real drivers would love to have that advantage on the track. Dont think the marshalls would allow the supercharger though. But horsepower aside, this thing now turns in, holds line and bites the corners, just watch the throttle coming out of said corners, cause that supercharger comes in strong above 6,000 Rpm, so watch those low gear corners, cause she'll slap you faster than a fat woman called pregnant.

Seriously fun car though, a bit nerve racking coming outa corners, but still really fun, And sounds even better than before with that blower now onboard.

RJ will probably have one of these in the future, when he gets his save rebuilt.

Thanks for another review! :D Yes, there's no point improving on its speed. It's an American muscle car, it has speed out of the box. What it does need though is a good setup, which as you saw, improves lap times by a fair bit. :D And yeah, the supercharger gives you a ton of extra torque, which makes mince meat out of the tyres.

Yep. As for the Miura, I do believe praiano63 has done one. Knowing him, it'll be a damn good tune too.

Need the SVT supplied with something else to get you back up to scratch with your game save? Or have you had enough support for now?

I need a low mileage SRT4 to defend my title...

Have you lost a game save RJ..?? If you want some lumps of metal to get your garage back up to speed, let me know. I've got buckets of the stuff gently rusting away on top of The Hill...

Yep, lost it a bit before deadline on the classic shootout.

Roj, why don't you post your GT86 drift setup?

I don't want to give people the impression that I'm a drift tuner. Also drift tuning is very difficult, not because of the tuning itself, but because everyone's drift style is different.

Yeah, that's true. Anyway, got gold in the 86 Madrid drift in the 1st try with a completely stock one. I'm 3416 points behind you
Then I pulled a 1:14.6xx at Tsukuba with it.

Build this car, as another member of my streetlegal cars. Im always positive about my streetlegals. RKM tunes always work great. This time, not so. I always looked at the Murci as an mule to drive. IT NEVER DOES WHAT U WANT.

This time it drives ok. Not super, but ok. Driving sport soft, it still understeers quite heavy and the moment is doesnt (when u hit curbs) its starts to slide. Not that that is a problem, its catchable but because its ass is so heavy it glides to much on spots you dont want it.

The tune is not my thing. If i put slicks under the thing, its ok, but the understeer gets even heavier.

nah, too bad. The SV model is way better, thats a fact. But still a good job guys.

Im going to test your Spoon S2000 race car tune next :)

a +1 for the effort

The extra weight you kept on the Murcielago has hurt it somewhat. Like you said, the heavy rear end is deciding which direction to go, instead of the front.

Edit: Just made some minor revisions to the Insightful Honda. It's a little faster, but only because the revisions has made it a little easier to drive, if it wasn't easy enough already.

I will give the Insight a go too and your Leaf Roj.

Can i request a NISMO 400R tune? (if you have one. I have one, rebuilt, so i need to break it in first. What it needs is a grippy, fast and good responding suspension/diff/controller setup. It is one of my streetlegal cars, so full weight, almost stock engine/boltons only. I have the idea that the 400r has plenty of potential, but the stock settings are not showing it. So i want a track setup from the master himself :)

So I got bored today, and decided to pick a random page from the post. Lo and behold, I came upon the Annihilator tune (the Audi TT touring car in case you guys forgot)
I remembered I had one in the garage, but it had the engine upgrade stage 3 on it. I slapped the tune on, and added racing softs and increased rear downforce to 60. It was a blast to drive, even in spec II. Just thought I'd let you guys know :D
