So, in Round One we had 19 racers applying, in this one we are down to 12. And after it is completed, we will be down to 8.

After this round is completed, we will have 6 winners. For Round 3 they will be joined again by two "lucky losers, in order to "even" - for the last time in this event - the difference in this round's race-difficulty caused by the random pairing of players.

As in Round One, after I am informed of all race results I will check the game's leaderboards to see the best laptimes (under "Lap Records") of the 6 "Round Two Losers" (RTL). Best two laptimes posted until midnight (GMT) Sunday give the respective RTL players a "ticket" to Round Three.

III - Timeframe for each pairing to do the races:
Starting next Monday March 30th, from 00:00 GMT, until Sunday April 5th, with the race result sent by PSN PM to me (PSN ID: GTP_Hun) until 23:59 GMT

IV - The Car

FERRARI F40

V - The Track

VI - Race start Rules

Immediately after both racers get control of their cars they must stop and, as quick as possible go back to the start/finish line and place their car in their respective grid spot (car in first goes to pole, car in second goes to second slot on the grid). Best option to do this is probably to use reverse gear, but that's up to the player. Practise on how to do this right is highly recommended, because it is tricky to avoid a disqualification.

After both cars are stopped and in position, the race starts when the race clock reaches 00:30, unless BOTH RACERS agree on a different time or (if both use working headsets) they want to set a "verbal" countdown (from one of them) once both are ready.

RULE ADDED: If both racers agree, they can skip this "standing start" rule and just do the race from the rolling start they get from the game. In this case, the host will set the start order setting at "random".

VII - Weather condition

DRY

- Length of race

10 MINUTES

Good Luck!

PiotrB_23... Please tell me you understand English? My last competitor and I had a bad language barrier.

Look forward to racing with you soon.

I feel a bit dissapointed because I did 1:36.3x and my time has not not been uploaded to leaderboards. I was online all the time so I guess that was one of game glitches.

Do you guys know if Mont Tremblant is real track? I find that this track really suits me.

I like this combo, I only just unlocked the F40 and the track yesterday, set a 1'42 so far but I love the flow of the track and the car feels great around it. There are a few dodgy places where you can loose loads of time if you mess up, so it should be an intense race.

Yep, it's real. I don't know why, but the "flow" of it reminds me Zandvoort and those up and down fast sections. Check this:

Edit: jjaisli beat me to it :D

Re-Edit: Agree Ardius, Mont Tremblant is one of the tracks where a simple mistake can cost you many, many seconds. Very technical, very demanding concentration-wise. Compared to it, Mugello is a lot more forgiving.

But this is Round TWO, right? Now imagine what I have in store for rounds 3, 4 and ... 5 :sly:

Thanks for a answer. Quite frankly I never heard about this circuit before.

F40 is just fantastic !! It has incredible handling and the engine is really powerful in higher revs. Overall F40 is very interesting to drive.

Your lap time has been uploaded in Time Trial. I do all my laps now in Leaderboards because many of my best lap were never uploaded in Time Trial!

Sorry everyone, but I'm going to have to withdraw from this round - I'm currently travelling & not able to race online. Maybe someone else can step forward to take my place.

I've also been debating whether or not to replace my G25 with a "half-price" out-of-warranty deal with Logitech. As I already have a GT3 RS wheel on order (supposed to ship end of April), I'm not sure whether it's worth doing this (I only paid $223 Canadian for the G25 when I bought it - at $150 + shipping the "half-price G25 woulld cost almost as much as the original purchase price). If I do, I would probably sell it after my Fanatec arrives, if anyone's interested (+ I could sell my G25 pedals - could be used with a DFP).

I'm also pretty sure my wheel could be fixed, but I have no idea how to do this - Logitech doesn't have any interest in repairs, or even offering any advice on what might be wrong. Their approach is very straightforward - just replace anything that's faulty: no repair department, no stocked parts.

I'm sorry to hear that Biggles.

At this point, there'll be no replacements so your withdrawal makes pauljw1983 winner by default. I'll update the first post.

Damn!! I guess it's way too late to enter this :(

F40 and Canada are probably my favourite things in FC!!

It is :indiff:

I left you messages everywhere before the event started, but you must have been away for a few days so I got no reply.

This, however, won't be the last event we'll have with FC, so be sure you'll get called to the next one 👍

No problem danjama. You and I can have a loser vs latecomer battle this weekend. :D

Well, mhm won his race against me:
We agreed to use a rolling start rather than a standing start.

To start off, there was a misunderstanding about the transmission rules and I was essentially screwed when we first tried racing as I had no idea I was forced to use manual. Anyway, after we sorted that out we restarted.

For the first 5 laps, I had a good race, mhm was really hounding me, trying all sorts of places to overtake me it was good fun....until the 6th lap, when on the run down to turns 3 and 4, he had caught me and was alongside going down the hill. Now, I instantly knew this wouldn't end well as this part of the track is very alike to Eau Rouge or 130R, where two cars running alongside each other is practically impossible to avoid someone going off. Well, naturally this happened as I went slightly wide on my line, mhm was already on my inside, I couldn't turn back in because he was there and thus lost a wheel on the grass and that was effectively the race decided.
Now, I'm not blaming mhm for this and I certainly don't think his win was any of less of one. However, I did feel it was a touch thoughtless to try a move down there and I don't know what would have happened if I had attempted to shove mhm over in order to stay on track.
I blame myself equally for not keeping a tighter line but I don't know what else I could have done.

Anyway, congrats to mhm on the win and I enjoyed racing before this incident so at least theres that. 👍

Ardius, there is no restriction for transmission. You are allowed to use automatic transmission.

edit: It sounds like you said he took up your space in the corner. I'm not sure if that changes since you ran off on your own but I still think you deserve your side of the track.

Yes, I know, but mhm had restricted it to manuals only, but he later switched it back after I asked.

Its not so much he took the space I needed, its hard to explain. With this corner, you run wide in the corner anyway, but as he was following me, he also ran wide along with me. As I approached the edge of the track, the normal thing would be to lift off and turn in more to avoid losing a wheel on the grass. However, as he had followed me into the corner and was affectively alongside me, I couldn't do this and was forced to leave the track. He couldn't have given me more room either because I don't think he realised I had run out of track or that he was affectively running me off. Its just the way that corner flows that causes this which is why I feel its a bit thoughtless to even try moves down there. Surely the best thing to do in this corner is to slow and follow, but in the end thats racing, he saw a gap, made his decision and stuck with his move I can't argue with that.

All I ask is for it to be avoided if possible.

Zedux and I had our race. It was a see-saw battle. First I had the lead, then he took the lead, then I took it back, then he took it, then .... well we'll forget about the rest. It wasn't pretty. I went off in areas that I usually don't go off. It wasn't until the last few laps that I was getting lap times that were decent for me. Good luck to the remaining competitors.

Hmm... I'm trying to picture this.

Remember, that unlike in GT5P, you CAN bump & rub with a car alongside you ( only problem being the frame rate issue), but that corner sequence is probably the most unforgiving in FC.

If you were ahead at the end of the previous lap then, I would say that you should have protected the inside line going into that deadly downhill corner, forcing HIM to take the outside line & risk running off. Once you let him inside, you were cooked & could only back off.

Well, it's difficult to coment not seeing exactly how it happened but in general, if you leave the best line in a way that allows someone else to occupy it, trying to keep side by side is made at your own risk. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyway Ardius, from our posts I see that there's no dispute about end result so i'll update the first post accordingly.

Zathra5, we all have (at least I do) these races, where, as one day jjaisli simply put it to me ... we simply "don't wanna talk about it". Don't get mad at yourself, that's just the way it is. Anyway, Zedux is a formidable racer so giving him a good fight for a while is something not many can be proud of. I'll also update the first post with your race result.

hi ardius
a little comment on our race.
for starters i made a mistake setting the transmision to manual.that was what i thourght it should be.my mistake.we had a restart.ardius in front as we diden't do standing start.as i know it's hard to overtake at mont tremblant i stayd behind and close hoping he made a mistake.we ran close for 5-6 laps with only 0,5-1,5 sec apart.then i managed to get along side him at the start/finish line, and after playing this track several times i know it's a tricky place to overtake.i had the inside and on the first righthander turn i stayd on the curb,as there's no way i could see where he were.he went wide and of the track.good racing and ardius was a tough driver to overtake.hope i can race him again.

Just a reminder: tomorrow night is the deadline. I'll do my own race with GTP_Graffen tomorrow evening, I hope Energiya and Fairplay_plz, and also PiotrB and host killer have their races already scheduled!

Cheers, thanks for the kind words, it was purely a racing incident and thats how I see it, your move was fair and the corner was effectively yours already at that point.

Oh, and no worries about the transmission, I was more pissed because I thought someone had changed the rules without telling me,

Yes, essentially, though its difficult to make that corner any tighter without losing some speed, I had approached the corner normally but hadn't anticipated him managing to keep on my inside. Having already committed to the corner on my usual line, its difficult to alter line quickly especially because he was already in a position where I was unable to turn back in.
I disagree its any different to GT5P, and I'm fully aware we can rub bumpers safely, we did several times during the race as we battled. Its just this corner sequence is one you need to be very careful with and have to plan ahead.

I think with more practice racing here, making moves down here would be possible and it wouldn't happen the same way again but its difficult to practice for all situations and anyway, in the end it was just a racing incident and I'd rather it be treated that way as I mean no negative thoughts on mhm's driving.
