Real fine work there gentlemen! PH, way to go! Your times are looking good. ;)

Duke, I'm glad your here man, don't know if Fury is gonna show for this one, so consider yourself filling the second spot. :D 👍

I've had a few e-mails with Fury and he says he's working on it. I've not had any response on how he's doing, though. I've taken care of everything on my end for him to run, now it's up to him.

On another note, I was able to get Boom's replays to Duke on Friday, so he had the weekend to learn from them.

This is not the way to start a week out...

AO

Yeah, I'm here, but the 9boards rules are taking all the joy out of this. It's incredibly frustrating to know that I'm totally at the mercy of the AI, and that I can't retaliate. And then to screw a good run because I brush the right rear against the wall after Turn Three...

I'm pretty happy with my handling setup but maybe I'll try the Gear Trick like you did. Anything that will help me dig out of the hole after the turns will make it easier.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get another session or two in, and to get my time down. Any hints on how to STAY ahead of the AI?

Don't be afraid to do some blocking on them. If they hit you in the rear that's within the rules.
Also, out-braking the AI is pretty easy, use it to your advantage.

Keep up the good work gent's! 👍

I thought we weren't supposed to get bump drafted?

Yeah, I out-brake the AI all the time; that's the problem. I have to run way too tight an inside line to avoid butt-banging the lot of them 100 feet earlier than I normally brake. Tha means my turn in is messed up b/c I'm not where I want to be.

I'm just venting. This would just be a lot more fun if the rules weren't so stupidly arbitrary.

If they hit you in the ass, it's OK. You just cant slam into AI cars to brake, or use them to make direction changes.

Knowing that would have helped me considerably at Round 8. I threw out many runs because of getting tailgated into a fender bender.

I think a sticky at GTN of hte existing rules would have helped...That's the second rule I didn't know of...

*Deep sigh*

Yeah, see my post over at GTB# indicating how I feel about this whole sordid affair.
:(

If you got smashed in the rear and that smashed you into the car ahead of you, then a restart would have been necessary. I had that happen to me a few times. I restarted every time. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
But if you were to get bumped in the back and it didn't cause you to hit a wall, then it's perfectly acceptable.

Yeah, I agree, but we had a sticky here that explained alot of the AI rules.

I'm so freaking tired of getting dry-humped by the godforsaken AI on theis course that I could spit. I feel like an extra on Oz.

This has to be the most annoying race I've ever run. The Pennzoil GTR is like my best friend in comparison to these assbangers.

I'm gonna FedEx you a jar of Vasoline Duke. :D That way the AI will slide up there nice and easy for ya!

Yeah, who the hell in there right mind could have ever concocted a race such as this? :embarrassed:

They should be strung up for sure. ;)

Hiya all...going to attempt to find an improvement tonight after dinner but if one of you PAL guys/gals could give me a verdict on my 4:46.352 to be sure it would be appriciated. Thanks Drew ;)

Bah. I put in about my limit last night. I've got two runs:

5':00.853" which is clean within the limits of my detection.
4':57.034" which has a lot of AI bumping, and three wall contacts caused by AI, including a nudge of the lefthand wall following the last chicane on the last lap, caused by the Camaro rearending me at the entrance to that turn, pushing me through with too much speed. The contact was 1-2 seconds before the wall touch but still caused by it.

You guys make the call - I can FedEx this card to AO today so he can post it for review Thursday morning; or you can just submit whichever you deem appropriate (assuming of course that Fury doesn't come through).

Please let me know ASAP if you want me to send Alex the card today. Thanks!

I know the times are not great. I may take one last crack on Wednesday night, but I'm not sure if I'll get a chance or not at this point. Sorry guys.

Hey Duke, I'll post up some settings for you to try when I get home tonight. I found them to be better than the ones that I had used previously. With my old settings I was running free run laps at 1'32.5 and with the new settings I was able to run into the 1'31's only after 5 laps. So I found them to work good for me.

Hey good news: I just received Der Alta's memory card via UPS. After restarting the race many times due to illegal contact w/ the wall and other AI cars, I finally was able to manage a clean run:

Lap 1: 1'40.996
Lap 2: 1'33.269
Lap 3: 1'32.683
Total: 4'46.948

This run was completely wall free. There were 2 very minor incidents of AI contact caused by , in which I just barely scraped the side of the Vertigo and GT-One while on the outside of the first turn on both laps 1 & 2. These incidents, however, should be deemed acceptable.

I used Prancing Horse's latest posted settings and noticed how I was almost 2 seconds slower on the first lap, about the same on the 2nd lap, and a bit quicker on the last lap. I also was pitted against the same exact field: Vertigo, GT40, Camaro, GT-One, and R390. Prancing, mind sharing any tips for getting a quicker first lap?

I am thrilled with my current run but I'll try to improve on it tomorrow after school. neon duke, hang in there man. Keep at it just in case something drastic happens where I can't send in my time. boom, I'm looking forward to trying out your settings once you post them.

Nice looking thyme there Fury!

So your gonna be here for this one? I'll get my settings up to you here soon. I'm still stuck at work right now but I should be home about 01:30 MST. Don't know if your gonna be around at that time but they will be waiting for you when you return.

Cheers.

Seems Fury has done a time! Duke what can I say? I'll start by saying thankyou for taking the time out to run this evil, sadistic race of Booms!it's much appreciated:tup:

Now Fury has confirmed he has a run I will submit it for him before the deadline. Thankyou again Duke for helping us out at short notice

No problem! I'm glad to help, and I'm glad Fury has a good time to post.

I'll have to try Boom's settings but it seems awfully stiff. I don't know how he fights the understeer that way; maybe it is not as bad as I predict. Even discounting his skill he's 4 seconds faster than I am in free run. Unfortunately those seconds mean the difference between staying in front of the AI and getting caught.

EDIT to settings posted above:

Springs: 10/17

And yes Duke, thanks again for being here for the team, it is greatly appreciated! :)

Going to submit Fury's time now, as I'm off out today,so just in case I'll send it in now 👍 good luck to both of you in this race and thank god it's all over with eh! :D

Thanks Kelly, appreciate you giving it the thumbs up...just like to be sure before I submit. ;)
Well I tried my hardest over the last day or so and should have had a 4:44 time but just couldn't keep it clean, expecting to get a real arse kicking too 'cause if I left 2-3 seconds behind the fast guys will have found it and more.
Also...my apologies for not being online over the last couple of days, but its been a pretty hectic time at work with 30-36 degree days over here with it...I was just to tired to do the work, family & race thing and be online.
Fury...nice job man and Duke thanks for putting in such a big effort...I'm sure the team appreciated it greatly 👍

Last word....I HATE THIS F"N RACE!! :banghead:

Drew , my 👍 is my opinion I don't know about the reviewers who like to video record every single frame and play it back slow motion  Only thing from your race that they could possibly get you on in all honesty is the AI contact in the first bend
nixweiss.gif
for me it's fine though! and if anyone says anything I'll be on them like a fly on shit ;)

Yeah..that contact worried me a bit too...but man this was a hard race to get right. To be honest...if they give me the thumbs down I don't really give a $hit...tried my best thats all I can do. Thanks for the support though! ;)

That's the spirit! 👍

If you do get a

I'll just say " thats fine, Drew don't give a $hit anyway!"
