Run out of gas?

So if the tires become red (or for that matter, unable to use effectively anymore) while racing in B-Spec mode, then the driver pits in by himself?

Yes, B-Spec Bob pits in automatically according to tire tempurature (he never checks the gas gauge). However, Bob shows an incredible lack of foresight. He could be racing the 'Burg, and drive right past the pit-stop, even though his tires are clearly in the orange, then turn on his pit-lamp just a few turns past the pit (completely ignoring the fact that he still has 12 miles to go)

Bob has ran outta gas on the 'Ring enduro a couple of times. He drives right past the pits, and then turns on the pit lamp! Friggin' idiot!

I think it MAY have to do with how far you rev your engine:
if you take it all the way to the rev limter, then you are more likely to run out of fuel.
this happened to me at the Fuji endurence with the pesci C60
redlining a V-10 is not the best way to conserve fuel....

When My fuel drops down to 16/80 or 24/80 like on test course, I steer the car in to the entrance of pit road before I get on the Main Straight.

And when you run out of gas, then you go around at 50mph until you reach a pit? If that was true, I'd rather kill myself....what a waste of time, 50mph....*shaking my head*
Then don't run out it's not hard to keep a full tank.

yeah, I will try to keep a full tank, if I'm there!! I'm saying, if you leave it for, say, 24 hours of 'Ring, and the tires become red, then does the driver pits himself in when necessary. Thats the question. If I was there all the time, watching for 8 boring hours, then I will, of course, keep a full tank!

In fairness to Bob, he will attempt to pit for tyres and/or fuel when required. The problem is: at the Ring, pit lane is near the end of a very high speed straight. Therefore, if the tyres have gone away, Bob may skid past the entrance of pit lane, bash the armco for a while, then give up & continue the next lap. Chances are, he will make the pit lane entrance next time around, (slow him right down if you are there to moniter this).
Luckily the AI have a similar problem, so things tend to balance out.

Yes he pits when necessary...yeesh...as for fuel...he'll be fuelled to the top each time.

OK, I sorted out the fuel problems. Thats out.

But I have another (I fear its unrelated to this forum) question.

I was doing the Nurburgring 4hours on B-Spec. I set it to X3 speed so that it would end in 1.5 hours.

After about 20 minutes, I came by the TV and checked its status. The tires and the fuel are all top condition (the driver pitted in by himself.) But that's not the problem. What surprised me was that, even though I left it in the Race Monitor mode, after the driver pitted in, it reverted back to Live Mode. I mean, if this was the case, then it wouldn't be fast forwarded because its in Live Mode, and you would have to come by every so often to put it back into Race Monitor mode, and forward it by 3 times! Is the game supposed to be this way? I mean, what an inconvenience...so you can't really "leave it" there by itself and expect it to do a 24 hour race in 8 hours...I have to come by and put it back into Race Monitor mode after every time Bob pits in, is this correct??

Well, yeah, it sucks though. plan it out and let it run for days, I leave mine on for days on end and nothing happens to your ps2

i dunno... i have the slim one......................oh! i can leave the console in the fridge!....mmmh nah, better use a fan and pray.

yes, having to keep an eye on B-spec pitting is rather annoying, but it is meant to be that way. It is after all 'Director's Mode', not 'Go get me a new car Bob! Mode'. PD intended for you to at least interact on some level with your B-spec driver. :odd: I hate it, You hate it, we all hate it. One can only hope that PD gives us the 'save game' feature during endurance pitstops we've all been asking for in the next version of GT.

I've only run out once, on purpose to see if I could...

took a nice big dodge RAM to do it too. I've never run out during a real race because my tires are always gone first anyway so I just pull a full pit.

So did you end up driving at 50MPH until you pitted in?
Luckily I never did run out completely during a race but I came close on a number of occasions (only in the 24hour Nurburgring) then I smartened up. Not that I had anything to worry about since I was about an hour ahead of second place less than midway through the race.

:irked: :banghead: B-Spec Bob missed the pit in the final lap of Nurburgring 4h!! Luckily it was the last lap, the tires were frekkin blood red for the whole lap!! He missed it a lap earlier too! I'd say, the driver isn't too smart. He was powersliding all along the turns and ending up at the barrier!

Bob starts with a B. Bob is as random of a name as John Smith. Bob is shorter to type than Brendan, Benjamin, etc. Bob is easy to say - one syllable. Bob is retarded. lol

Mine is Prolly the worst example of running out of gas...While i was doing the ring 24hour....Someone came to the door when i was on the back straight with 2 hours left in the race so i paused the game....By the time i resumed a couple hours later I lost my train of thought. I went straight past the Pits and ran out of gas after about the 3rd corner. 50mph round the ring is pretty dull ill tell you....I think i was driving the SUbaru super touring. Cant remember the lap time but everyone in the field un-lapped them selves at least once!

Hapul
Does less fuel increase lap speed? and
If you sit on the line revving it like a hoon, will you run out?

I used a cheat once that stopped the A.I. and they layed on the gas the whole time. I B-speced the game and everytime I drove past them their motors were winding. They eventually ran out of gas twoards the end of the race.

Thats what I thought I saw, so don't assume this is true.:dunce:
