Navy Intercepts Russian Bombers

Yahoo.com
U.S. fighter planes intercepted two Russian bombers, including one that buzzed an American aircraft carrier in the western Pacific during the weekend, The Associated Press has learned. A U.S. military official says that one Russian Tupolev 95 flew directly over the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz twice, at a low altitude of about 2,000 feet, while another bomber circled about 58 miles out. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity because the reports on the flights were classified as secret.
Cold War II Anyone?

Yeah a couple of months back the Russians kept flying over the North Sea in an attempt to coax us out.

Though addmittadley, that's pretty ballsy flying over a US carrier.

propeller powered???... still looks snazzy though!

When other people engage in provocative dangerous acts, it's always healthy to blame yourself.

 He said Cold War II. Russia is clearly out of line, but we also aren't exactly humble around the world.

Perhaps wouldn't have prompted Russia to exercise a show of force. They're still angry at us over these missile defense systems and over our antagonism towards Iran and the interests they have in that country.

My point is that maybe if we took a better diplomatic initiative with them, they wouldn't be so riled up. What they do is all ultimately on them, though. I just don't think Cold War II would ever happen if we settled down and humbly worked things out.

Why the hell do they have the right to get angry at us over missile defense systems or difficulties with a belligerent Iran??

If they're angry at us over that, then placating to them is not something that we should consider.

That's almost perfect Omnis. For a minute I really thought you were onto something and then I realized... The Russians never gave up, this is just the second set of the performance known as "cold war: live around the world."
As with any set break, the act comes back onto the stage after an exhausting first set performance and proceeds to put up everything they've got just so the fans will get excited again. Once the set break buzz dies back down we'll be smack in the middle of something along the lines of the first time around only with different tracks.
Eventually there will be a final set break with a short third set. After that I'd expect an encore.

All in all, the cold war performance never ended... The Russians just couldn't keep up for a little while and had to sit out. To think they ever gave up desires to engage in the cold war is simply foolish.
I suppose I could be wrong, just as I'm probably wrong about Puttin being ex-KGB. :indiff:
