"Trump is a Russian" is trending on that there social media, and that amuses me, because Robert Rankin established in his Brentford Trilogy novels that "Russian" was Brentford Rhyming Slang...
Robert Rankin
'Russian Front' - errr

So here we are:

Who knows where we will end up?
@Biggles, this is where we are: The US (and its minion Israel) now votes in the UN General Assembly with Russia, Belarus and North Korea.

The "free world", as we old folks used to call the western democracies back in the cold war era, is just a memory. Its natural leader (the USA) have turned.

Where we will end up I'm not sure. But I hope european states and european peoples are ready and willing to arm themselves to the teeth and make Europe a stronghold against the colluded plotting being made by powers to its East and West. Tall order I know but until the majority of american citizens regain common sense in their electoral choices, the US cant be trusted and is in fact an allied of Russia and therefore a global (and even mortal) danger for european states and democracies. Starting with the ones placed in the East and North, but we all (including the peaceful easygoing litle Shire to the southwest where I live) will be affected sooner or later.

It's becoming quite obvious that we need to invest heavily in the military.

Ukraine's parliament votes unanimously for Zelensky to remain as President until martial law has ended.
Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has passed a resolution extending the mandate of President Volodymyr Zelensky until martial law is lifted, Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak wrote on Tuesday.

Some 286 deputies voted in support of the resolution, with no abstentions or votes against, Zheleznyak said.

The resolution confirmed that it was currently impossible to hold free and fair elections in Ukraine because of the war, for which it held Vladimir Putin liable, adding that the Verkhovna Rada declared on behalf of the Ukrainian people that presidential elections would be held as soon as a “comprehensive, fair and sustainable peace” was ensured.

LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION BEING SILENCED! REEEEEEEEEEEE! DICTATOR!

Give it a day or 2, and you'll be hearing this from someone a little more orange on the news all week.

This is not the way. It was not what Biden, or basically any president before Trump would have signed up for, and for good reason.

Agreed.
Though it does line up with Trump's persona of, what's in it for me.

Let's watch how that orange asswipe will still backstab Zelensky and the Ukrainians after the deal has been signed.

The problem now for many nations is that they have wound down their own military industry so much over decades that most defence spending is just money shipped overseas and piling more and more onto the trade deficit. UK for example spends about £54bn on defence per year but the UK defence sector only has a revenue of about £12bn.

Defence spending is far more palatable if it's spent at home where it creates jobs and tax revenue at home also.

It's all the fault to countries that decided to be Murrican little dogs, they prefered to buy us weapons instead of being fully european and buy better equipments...
Only UK and France kept a good military industry, all the rest broke down, and first Germany that decided to betray all the european interest than buying only us military. The last decisions beetween german-french weapons that went down because of the german part is obvious, they end up buying foreign things.

France and UK, and Italy is a smaller level were right to keep military industry.
Be dependant of USA is a fool spirit, and dependand of Russia aswell, Europe is powerfull enough to defend ourself, we don't need NATO

Sorry to say, but that is what all US presidents were most probably doing - or at least the lobbies behind them since 60' or 70'.
Unfortunatelly that is the shady side of US being uncle Sam in charge of Free world.
Don't get me wrong - I am with the free world, but Zelensky was in my guess put against the wall by Trump to expose that.

Mining resources offered to US were Zelensky's part of the roadmap to negotiations with Russia.
Tramp bullying Zelensky and quite support to Ukraine was part of roadmap of Tramp to White House (now seems also as part of his debts or interests due to Putin/Kreml).
When Trump hooked up with Putin, Zelensky most likely played All in - showing what is the real price, and real reason of US being involved in the conflicts and beaing a Peace maker.
Same applies to Taiwan, Iraq, Izrael, Middle East, African Countries - you name it - wherever US troops were sent.
