I've got silver several times. In fact, I get into second place before the end of the 4th lap. But I can't catch that first-place car! I've been within three seconds a couple of times but thrown it all away when passing.

Apart from needing to vent frustration I'm just wondering if the way you drive affects the lead car at all? I see there are different sets of cars, one set I'm 10th by Spoon, another set I need to take them on the main straight. Does the difficulty of getting gold vary? I'll get there in the end with enough persistence and my Ford GT tune is working well although a little understeery.

No ones got back to you which is slightly weird, but it's probably because this is a common problem people have with S7/10 myself included at a time. It's just about perseverance keep at it you will eventually do it, trust me keep looking at where you can make up the time what sectors you need to nail to really make it work. If you need to take you're car to the arcade mode check a few of the top ghosts out from the time attacks and see where you're going wrong.

Good luck

Thanks, pretty much what I've been doing. Appreciate the reply and encouragement. I know I'll do it, many other missions have seemed impossible at some point.

Try this tune:

The 749pp setup.

That got me my first win. It's very easy to drive, keep the throttle partly on through the corners to keep your cornering speed up, as it has immense downforce.

Also, try and get a lineup where the front two cars are Blitz Skylines, that way they will hold up the Corvettes, GTs and S2000s so you'll most likely pass the leaders on the 4th lap.

Or you could try the modified tune I posted here (The one in the quote box):

All credit to LDP tuning shop for the original tune :)

That meant another easy win.

And lastly, practice. The first lap is probably the most important, you have to nail it. Getting past the C1 Corvettes cleanly is vital, they have a habbit of getting in your way, cutting off the apex and running out wide every corner.

Once you can get those clean, consistent laps in, you will wonder how you managed not to beat this race.

Thanks s2k2k3. I've managed a few laps in the 2.01 bracket so I can't be far off! Just been drifting so I'll get back to S10 shortly.

Glad to see people give you some tunes, make sure you're doing it on professional physics as well then the frustration will actually be worth it. Let us know how you get on!

Standard? Pffft! I've never played the game on Standard, turned everything off first time I drove a car. Right now I've drifted back to drifting...S10 will be back on the agenda once I get the Elise above 11,000 at Eiger which shouldn't take long!

I'm very late into this game I know so it's good to see there's still a few people that look in here. Can't wait to start GT5, I should hopefully find it a lot easier than GT5P now I've got some idea what I'm doing!

With all this encouragement I'll give S10 another crack this weekend. In the meantime, another Top Gear to watch and some sideways action...

The gentlemen at Lions Den Performance have made an excellent tune highlighted in a post in this very thread.

The Viper Tune will eat that track up. All I did was adjust the Final Drive for more acceleration, and it took me only one try.👍

So I thought I'd give the advice here a try. Selected the Viper...except it wasn't the proper Viper. Ah-ha, a car not yet in my garage. Fortunately I have a bountiful stock of credits so I procured a orange monster from Dodge (trivia -- did you know that Dodge was formed by two brothers and were initially parts suppliers to Henry Ford and made a lot of money out of Ford's Model T growth, only to become disenchanted and strike out on their own?)

Anyway...to the tune. Slotted in the numbers and off we go

Initially it was disappointing. Using my Ford GT tune I can catch the 16th car and take it just before it enters the first bend. This one was nowhere close.

However....by Dunlop I'm back to where I normally would be with the GT. Except I've not had to wrestle the car around the corners, it's been remarkably docile. With the GT through Dunlop I'm worried about running wide...the Viper just tracks nicely to the inside. The 200R curve is a breeze compared to the GT which needs all the track width and then some. This would be the advantages of running some downforce as opposed to pure power. 130R no longer requires anywhere near as much braking either, thanks again to the magic of aerodynamics. The right-hander after the chicane? Mash the throttle, no need for the oversteer histronics I'm used to.

My first run spun out -- it is possible to be tooo harsh on the throttle -- but not before I'd run a low 2.02 and there's plenty more where that came from.

I see gold not far off....but I'll need to get back to my GT tune just for the challenge of it!

cheers all

Had another crack at it just now. Ran an easy bronze, and managed consistent laps in the 2.xx bracket. Then for gold. Taking the advice here I went flat-out for the first lap. Hyper-aggressive, braking late, thinking how early could I get on the throttle and then getting on it just a bit earlier, trusting the car to grip. Traffic...knife through butter, no prisoners. Took a few restarts but eventually I nailed the first two laps and then I'm 5th....with the next few cars not far in front. They didn't last long and on lap 3 I'm in first place. Gold!

Of course, there's still more than two laps to complete.

You never saw anyone drive so conservatively.

Total Jeykll and Hyde transformation, a textbook easy, easy drive kissing apexes, cautiously late on the throttle. I'm keeping an eye on that little blue time and the first mark was -0.105 just after I passed into 130R. Over the s/f line and it's 1.7. Next mark was around 2.8, and I kept it nice and smooth for the rest of the two laps finishing around 3 seconds ahead lapping very comfortably in the 2.02 range.

So thanks for the help.

The tune worked very well, except I slightly lengthened third gear as I was running out of revs around Dunlop and there'd be no point changing to 4th.

S7 beckons, but I don't see it as a problem. Just got to remember which way Fuji curves and I'll be all good there too.

Great to hear you've finally done it 👍 There are a lot of fast tunes out there, but because this one (The Lion's Den Performance 749pp Viper) is fast and easy to drive, it makes it probably the best S10 tune out there in my opinion. (That was the car you did it in right?)

All your practice will have payed off too, driving 750pp cars on R1 tires is not that easy :)

S7 is easier, but the Viper lacks straightline speed compared to the Amuse S2000, Ford GT Spec II and the Corvette/Tuned. I'd use the tune s2k2k3 linked you to above (The Corvette one) :) I think that is what I used.

I ran the Viper on Fuji for a couple of attempts...getting the braking into Turn 1 is always tricky. It is a little slow on the straights, so I went back to my own Ford GT tune. That has no problem on the straights and may be quicker overall than the Viper although it is a lot more difficult to drive. However, I'm not really doing consistent laps in either as I'm re-learning the circuit so it's hard to compare. Both cars need different gear ratios compared to Suzuka.

I really don't like Fuji and I worked out why. It's the slow series of bends before the straight, a couple of them are blind particularly the last one before the straight which is so important, I look right but the screen doesn't extend that far. At Suzuka you can see every apex, even pretty much the hairpin. That and the fact I don't feel it flows as nicely

Anyway S7 will be golden soon. That'll leave me 7 non-gold across 57 events.

I've always despised Fuji for the same reason, those last couple of corners are very annoying, blind turn and late apex FTL. They trick you into putting the power on too early and then you end up on the runoff and you end up getting a penalty.

I hope so too, but if you turn your head too far you'll be looking at the wall next to the TV....clearly we need a three-screen setup but that would negate the need for the eye. So unless the TV moves on some form of track left and right I'm not convinced about it. Still, I'm sure it'll be effective to some extent.

I wonder if laptimes will fall with 3D and tracking? I expect not, but they may be easier to achieve.

I didn't do S10 on pro because I don't have a wheel, but when I got gold on standard I got lucky. 1st and 2nd (both tuned Z06) place on lap 4 collided at Casio and I had no trouble winning after that. :D

I did go back later and race it again to see if I could win it without the AI screwing up and I did.

That S10 video is interesting. The laps are, IMHO, slow. 2.07-2.10, and the driver got that close to 1st? I had to run 2.01s to do that. The outlap was very slow too. Could that be an earlier Spec when S10 maybe wasn't as hard? I know that driving that slow would not have seen me into a gold, even with the two strokes of luck this one had.

BTW cleared S7 gold quite easily in the Ford GT, P1 on lap 3. No downforce but monstrous on the straights and I manage to keep up on the tight stuff. Tall second gear helps, no point making it low and never being able to use the power.

I have been working on S-10 now for some time and can't even get Bronze. I got this game in June so actually I'm disapointed that I got this far. Is the game over after the S-10. I was just beginning to enjoy it and this forum was very helpful with all the tunning suggestions.

John

There's a difference between completing the game and the game being over. If your objective is to say "I completed GT5P" then yes, once you finish S10 it's complete, unless you want to do the 17 dealer races (see FAQ).

However, for most of us and certainly me who is a car person not a game person, the game only begins with the completion of S10. There's so much more...online events, drifting, time trials with top 100 places on the web, and if you're having trouble completing S10 bronze then chances are you can go back and try to complete the lower events to gold level. Then there's tuning to explore.

As for S10, follow the advice here. It works. The Mine's is also a good car for S10.

Think you are correct, it was an older Spec. Think my driving has got a wee bit quicker and a big bit smoother.

Suppose i sholud go back and try it again.
