Whats this?
Hi all,

I encountered a strange thing...

If you take a look at the world rankings of pad users...

See here:
http://gtdb.net/?tt/pad

...you will find most of the japanese drivers in the Top-rankings
(rank 63. and up)

So could it be that the japanese Version is somehow different from the other countries versions ?

Could it be the Japanese Version has any advantage for pad-users ?

Could this advantage be a linear throttle distribution?

Can someone who has a Japanese Account please check the throttle distribution for the pad ?

Regards

The japanese must also have a special version for wheel-users because there are 5 of them in the world top 10
:sly:

Now seriously... :)
The database only has 250 entries from each country.
The last pad japanese is 249th on the japansese ranking and 63rd on the pad world ranking
After the last japanese pad user on position 63 there just aren't any more japanese to pull from the database. They're good, it's just as simple as that!

Unfortunately for most, Takeuchi and a lot of the Japanese are just bloody good.

The only variation might be that some use screens with varying differences in graphics quality which would give you an advantage in consistency.

Would like to know if anyone is using three screens as this would give you the same visibilty advantage as the chase cam view in places.

Absolutely not, the versions will be identical, even for legal reasons as its a world competition...

Yeah? I thought it's Europe only for Academy and NA for tickets to Indy race...

However having played a lot against Japanese players, I'd agree, they're just bloody good. (not only on GT... )
:dunce:

That makes sense. Thank you Gaviao.. I was really wondering about that...

How did that answer your question? :odd:

It's been obvious from the get go, that they're just more talented/skilled GT drivers...unless you question/think that their version of the game gives them some particular advantage, which was your point in making this thread

Only advantage i found was, having a faster ghost somehow improves your lap time.

On the tuned car i have 1'35'878 on my practice account (japenha2007, japanese) and 1'36'042 on my GTP account. I believe a lot of guys on the japanese board are benefiting from Takeuchi's blistering ghosts.

I know we have fast ghosts everywhere, but if my friends are anything to go by, a faster ghost definately helps.

However, we have Prologue since december of 2007. We already knew japanese players are the fastest, followed by the europeans with the americans in third.

No question they are talented.. and obviously take the time trial serious.

But when I looked at the global-pad-leaderboard I noticed there are 41 Japanese drivers within the Top 60 rankings and none of them placed worse than 60.

Logically there must be a reason for this.

Gaviao_pt's explained why. And I believe he is right.

If noone had given an explanation I would have believed it is because of any other reason which also could have been a difference in versions leading to some advantage/disadvantage.

You, Mr. timeattack, may take it for granted that everything is equal and chances for everyone are equal. But I prefer to prove it.
Does this make sense to you, Mr. timeattack ?

Would you please accept the fact that I actually do ask questions in this forum which are based on my own considerations and which are obviously different from yours ?

Thank you, Mr. timeattack.

I still don't see how Gaviao's (no disrespect intended) post did anything except already state what was obviously known (to you), yet this was enough to convince you to give up your questioning :odd:

Just for you, I fired up the Japanese demo on my JP account and tried it out using the pad. As far as I can tell, the game plays exactly the same when using a 6-axis as with my US version. I also noted the throttle linearity issue on both versions of the game. Maybe that will better answer your question 👍

So, in Japan there are 41 guys that use controllers?
Is that what you 2 are saying?

I was amazed how fast that Takeuchi guy is. I can't even keep up with his ghost. Anyway i notice in Japan version that there's a backfire sound in 370Z tuned when you rev it at certain RPM. Maybe there's an anti lag system in japan version of 370z that we didn't know.

Out of the first 250, 41 are using pads. The rest we don't know.

What you are leaving out is that Japan is, on average, faster than everyone else.

If it was every time on the PSN, instead of the top 250 from each country, 63rd through 250th would be littered with Japanese on the controller board.

Of course.
Probably two thirds of them, just like in the first 60 positions

Thank you for clearing this up timeattack07gt and also for your effort.

You are right, I already knew that the global leaderbords consists out of the 250 fastest of each country but I did not take into consideration this leads to a somehow distorted (overall) result.

This is what Gaviao has indicated.

As a result to your answers, myself and perhaps some others now can assume that the versions are indeed equal.

This will not prevent from further questions I probably raise.. :)

I personally think that Takeuchi should be invited to a final and given a shot at GT Academy. If they want a driver then go get one and including him is highly likely to be a good idea.
