I'm importing the Exynos version :) That exclusivity!
Heard the Snapdragon one has a little lag in the menu.

I can pm you a reputable dealer that I've used before if you want, they service NZ too. Unlocked/No branding. $1000/$1150/$1250 for 16GB/32GB/64GB Exynos version NZ price.

I'm seriously thinking about getting an HTC One. Is there any more info on the Samsung camera and speaker system?

and speaker system?

From what i'm seeing, the HTC One's speakers win out against the S4.

The only thing I'm missing on these smartphones are simple buttons on the side to scroll to the next or previous song if your music player is active. I mean, the iPod classic had it, why not a smartphone? I hate how I need to unlock the phone and then operate the screen just to go to the next song. How hard can it be?

No, I mean the physics. How big are the pixels? The HTC One has 2 micron pixels, whereas the rest of the pack (and I'm assuming the GS4 as well) uses 1.1 micron pixels crammed into that unnecessarily-huge-13-megapixel sensor. That's 4 square microns vs. 1.21 square microns of light-gathering ability. Coupled with better optics, that makes the HTC's camera-- for all practical purposes-- the most superior offering on the market. I don't use my phone to make giant wall murals. I do, however, use my phone camera in low light situations. In fact, I'm using it in those situations most of the time, and the media that comes out of that phone will almost always be downsized to 1080.

Now, the only thing wrong with the HTC One as far as I can tell is that it (and this whole generation of phones) can't capture 1080p video at 60fps. I wonder if the GS4 octacore can do that. I'd hope so, since that'd be its only leg up on the competition.

My iphone 5 would still beat the S4 since it has more apps, utilises it processor more effectively so runs faster and is easier to use.

There are some apps that allow you to change tracks through some trickery of the volume and power buttons, from what I recall. There are also plenty of music apps that have lockscreen controls. Another option is headphones that have controls on them.

Part of the reason for moving away from extra buttons is they just require more space and considerations in the housing, while not being universally desired.

The One is all right from what I've seen, though images in bright light feel a bit too contrasty to me while not quite being sharp. But I'm a bit picky given the nature of my dSLR, which mind you, cannot record at 60fps in any resolution :P

Really? Well I'm from NZ and I am keen on the Exynos 5 Octa, since it has Power & efficiency on board. 👍

Let me know more about it thanks!

Nope, I'm afraid that the Exynos 5 Octa can't do that either. S5 perhaps?

He he, it's nice that users want to compare their current smartphones with the next big thing! Afterall, the GS4 beats all. 👍

Because CPU performance benchmarks dictate real world performance and value.

Turn down the Samsung fanboy-ism here just a bit and have some actual discussion on the phone, rather than praising it as some sort of God send. Also quite curious to see how those 8 cores hold up for battery tests.

Lol he got banned fast

Contributing at it's finest.

I mean your post, not his, in case that sarcasm wasn't clear.

What was that?

He's being a steward of the Samsung GS4 thread. Don't call him a fanboy because of his enthusiasm.

What was that?

The truth?

It would be easier to have a conversation with you on this phone, and about Samsung in general, if you don't endlessly speak of how the S3 and now the S4 are the most amazing devices ever.

Or that several members in here have commented on how it seems like you work for Samsung?

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

I suspect not.

We may be talking about smartphones like this is the de facto thread for all of them, but that's because it's the only thread here on the newest crop. It still is the GS4's thread. I don't see the problem with putting relevant marketing materials in the thread, even if the person doing it may be nutswinging like a spider monkey in the cirque du soleil.

In other words, don't be a dick.

Eh, I'm not really trying to be. I actually haven't minded the relevant information bits as well, though some of the links and chain posts have been a bit... superfluous (looking at the wallpaper post) It is just a bit stifling to conversation when the most active member in a thread keeps posting along these lines:
He he, it's nice that users want to compare their current smartphones with the next big thing! Afterall, the GS4 beats all. 👍

Honestly, I was hoping he'd have battery figures and more information on the color balance tools and results when I questioned them. Or that he isn't really selling people on the phone with the over the top Samsung enthusiasm. More than likely, I should have lowered my expectations when he just kind of said "nope, it is best" or that he is taking a brand that labels their flagship "life companion."

Yeah. I'll just wait for the Anandtech review in the mean time.

A lot of that hidden innovation is standard on most phones these days. I'd have to double check on the Barometer and Humidity for other devices, but most the rest is pretty normal. I'd say it is almost insulting to suggest people looking at phones in this range aren't aware of the gyro or accelerometer.

But is there more information or any trials with the color balance utility? Or some heavy testing with the camera?

Neat sensors, but does it have optical image stabilization? I think it only does EIS (electronic). Can the infrared be used for anything more useful like transmitting to IR receivers, etc?
