You're probably right. P2P is notoriously unreliable for anything but music. 99% of the remaining files are fakes.. either renamed files, or a million lines of code that includes nothing but the number "0".

Short answer.. if you're looking for GTASA on P2P... you'd be better of waiting until Tuesday and buying it, because you'll never get it on P2P before then.

Well I've been to numerous sites saying that it is pirated...but has rockstar officially said it was? Also there are already codes for San Andreas....kinda weird, how a game that hasn't come out yet, has codes...released on websites.:odd:

Ive been reading back through these posts, yeah ive been away for a day. And some of you are shockers, the fact that you searched for the game "SHANNON" and found a site is exactly what these people want and that guy that was gonna download it cause he could'nt wait like 5 days jeez!, im not getting it till the 29th and i still would'nt download it.
I wish people would'nt pirate games, if you think about it R* is one of the coolest game companies out if not the coolest, imagine if they turned around and said "oh no were sick of piracy were not gonna relese SA', i know that would never happen but if piracy gets much worse these companies could be forced to stop developements due to lack of revenue.
I bet this was sum ****in! little foreign **** workin on a shipping line that thought he'd be a smart ass!
Sorry i get angry sometimes he he.

That was emad, and he doesn't have alot of the requirements to get the pirated copy. He's not getting it.

Also, I get pleasure in the fact of what Jedi2016 stated:

There are three things necessary in order to make use of this: Access to the game online (not as common as the company would lead you to believe), a DVD-burner, and a mod-chipped PS2. Many gamers may have one or two of these, but very few have all three. The number of downloads will probably be less than 1% compared to sales next week. And at this late date, the only ones who will probably bother with it are the ones who wouldn't have bought the game anyway.
I thought this anyway. If you think about it, it's a very valid point. Then you must think of all the people out there with Dial-Up.

They done this too late. It won't work as well as the piraters planned.

I dont know if they would have planed it. I think it was just the timming of when the copy was stolen to when it was ripped, worked in R*'s favour in a way being so close to release that no one will be bothered to download it.

Well, yeah. That's true. I didn't mean planned in that way, I meant planned as in they would have expected it to be downloaded by everyone, hoping everyone would go crazy trying to get this game.

Well, the fine is pretty large. $20,000. I want to know whether that's for the perpetrators, or the people that download the game?

So if they get caught, either way they're gonna have to pay. And there are alot of die hard GTA Fans out there, and if they caught the slightest hint of who it is, those GTA instincts will kick in.

To tell the truth, I really don't like the fact that SO many people out there are downloading the game with the intention to never pay for it. On the other hand, I don't see what's wrong with the few people who are downloading it only so they can have it a few days before the stores will start carrying it

Either way, anyone downloading the game will have a buttload of trouble getting it to run since dual layer dvds are next to impossible to find. For those ignorant people actually downloading it not knowing what they're getting into, I laugh at you for wasting so much of your bandwidth grabbing a high demand file off of a torrent which will take no less than 24 hours to complete downloading... only to find out that you can't play it.

Yeah. I have a Dual Layer DVD Writer, but there's no Dual Layer DVDs anywhere near here. It's also a 16x Writer, but the fastest speed out is 8x, and they're even had to find.

We picked it up real cheap though. Plus, I know I won't regret it in the future.

Amen. I really laugh at the people downloading it.

It is possible to transfer it to the HDD and play it with HDLoader. But like everyone else, I'm going to support Rockstar and buy the game. 👍 I hate pirateers! 👎

You could probably get a PS2 Emulator, but I certainly hope people will have the pateince to wait a few days. 4 days in the US, christ!

I find it funny, everyone here is saying they hate piraters etc. But I guarantee every damn one of you have downloaded a **** load of muic. Apart from the sentimental connection we have with R* how is that any different? I think you should stop going off at the people who are downloading that and start thinking about what you're doing first.

The only song I've ever downloaded was "Camel Toe" from Bob and Tom show, and only because I thought it was well made, funny, and wanted my wife to hear it.

Thats it....

Yeah. Some people don't download, believe it or not. I know a few, but I bet you most of the people here do. I didn't actually say it's wrong to download, I just said that it's bad timing on the Pirators' behalves, and that I wouldn't normally care about this, except that I am a big fan of Rockstar Games. I didn't say that I hate downloading or anything. That would be hypocritical.

Even though I'm heavily into the pirating thing I'm not downloading GTA:SA as I really want to own a hardcopy of this. :) Oh and emad, it actually comes down to a single layer disc in filesize and it has worked, however there is speculation if anything has been 'ripped' so to speak off the game...just want to say this again, THIS IS A GAME WORTH BUYING! :D

Oh ok, thanks..sorry about that, never go to that site.:)

No that happens alot. But for Cheatplanet, they never EVER release the cheats before the game comes out. There is a space where the cheats will go, but will
put on when the game is released. Knowing my stupid cheating self, I'll probably end up cheating to see what the tank looks like know and that.

Also, I am very proud of this, that running in a tank is very very difficult. I heard it will be no where near as easy as it used to be. 👍

Did you post that in the wrong thread McLaren F1GTR? :odd:

Also, there's a bit of news on the Piracy. It's just a rumour though, but it could be legit.

From Gamespot:
RUMOR: The pirated versions of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas originated from a complex heist.

Source: A GameSpot reader.

The official story: " We don't comment on rumors."--Rockstar spokesperson.

What we heard: Yesterday, GameSpot was contacted by an anonymous reader who claimed to have first-hand knowledge about the theft of the original Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas discs. According to the reader, 14 finished copies of the game--which included the manual, cover, and game disc--were stolen by a group of workers from a manufacturing plant in New Jersey. The reader was also very careful to cover his or her tracks: rather than send a traceable e-mail, he or she used GameSpot's general contact page, which retains no information about the sender.

Bogus or not bogus?: Who knows? Hell of tale, though.

----------------

Too hard to tell whether this is real or not.

That makes sense, Jimmy.. the story about the stolen discs. Especially considering the time frame, less than a week before release. Plus a few days for the rip to happen from those discs.. they couldn't have been stolen more than ten days prior to release, there's plenty of copies out there. So this is no different from any other downloadable PS2 game, except it's a bit early. Whoopdy-doo.

It makes sense to me too. I suspected that it was workers that stole the game, as they usually have the game under tight-lock. If this is true, I suspect Rockstar would have their suspicions.

God I'd hate to be the guy if he gets found.

Believe it or not, my local market has GTA:SA available from Monday, and there charging £35 for it. Should I call the PO-lice?

From Blake (he's currently sitting next to me): It's a market...everything's illegal in a market.

How do you know they will? How was it confirmed?

I know markets are dodgy, but he usually dabbles in XXX material and crap DVD's. He said his "friend" has obtained a download of it. Asked me if I wanted a copy, and I politely said "No thanks".

Pity you didn't make that a bet.

Funny rule about copyright in the UK. It is perfectly legal to download music from the internet without paying - from things like KaZaA and the like - PROVIDED:

1. You own an original copy of the music you are downloading.
2. The music you are downloading is identical to that on the original you own (so no sneaky downloads of longer "Live" versions when you have a shorter or studio-recorded version)

Any tape/CD/record/other recording medium you own is not your property - you have bought the rights to listen to that music privately, NOT the object it comes on. Reading the small print you can see that the publishers "Reserve the right to retake possession of the disk at any time".

I have no sentimental connection with any publishers - PD don't give a rat's ass about me, and neither do Rockstar. Why would I care about them? That said downloading things you have no intent of paying for is wrong AND illegal. Phrases like "Rockstar worked really hard on this" are dumb, since every game manufacturer works hard on their games - even if it just seems like they're being lazy and re-releasing another FIFA game with different player names.

I do not own a single pirated game for my PC, PS2s or PlayStation. I do have several copied games for the Amiga A1200 but since I didn't acquire them until after the death of the machine and the games were out of production, this is neither wrong nor illegal.
